Doug was so mad about getting clapped by Lair he decided Character Roulette should end prematurely
Character Roulette was better
Holy shit I thought this was character roulette wow we’re back
What's character roulette? I have no memory of such a series
@@orceus213 what happened during the week? Did Doug and community decide to treat character roulette like Scrubs, the TV-series?
I think the negotiations for additional crafts should be a permanent part of the series
So, the Crusher Run thing sent me on a 6 hour long rabbit hole, the amount of misinformation in these comments is insane but... there's kinda a good reason for that.
The correct answer is incredibly unsatisfying: "We don't know."
This isn't a TCG vs OCG thing in both the CG's the answer is the same, we don't know if a face up continuous trap effect is a trigger effect (SS1) or a trigger-like fast effect (SS2).
The perfect rulebook's page 124 states that the effect is SS2:
* The effects of face-up Continuous Traps that activate are of Spell Speed 2. As a result, they can be activated in a chain to the activation of cards or effects in most cases.
If we take that as the correct ruling then MD works correctly and Joseph is wrong about chain-blocking.
However most judges I've talked to about it say something similar to the following:
* Trigger(-like) effects of continuous trap cards are spell speed 1 (trigger effects) if they are activated when the trap is already face-up on the field and spell speed 2 (fast effects) if they met their trigger condition while the card is face down and is being activated as a part of the card's activation.
If we take that as the correct ruling Joseph is right and MD is bugged. But as I've never received any additional, official proof apart from their word, I can't really accept that answer...
So yeah... I'm sorry for such an underwhelming conclusion and sorry to everyone that's claiming they know how it works when even Konami themselves apparently doesn't...
1. Master Duel is the closest thing we have to an actual official ruling database we actually have. Outside of well established known rulings that don't work in master duel the established way they do in the TCG/OCG, we have to assume that the game is correct and not bugged. For something as esoteric as this, we can only assume the game is correct because we don't have any official source that says otherwise.
2. Quite often, when multiple trigger effects meet there conditions at the same time, master duel will just choose which one to trigger instead of allowing you to choose which one to make chainlink 1. I think this has something to do with the auto chain toggle, but I don't really know. I think this might be involved in why that part of the video went the way it did.
@@GeneralNickles Yeah, no. The closest thing to a rulings database we have... Is the rulings database. And I've seen more than a handful of different rulings that MD gets wrong compared to the DB.
As for weird trigger interactions, could you give me a repeatable example of one that you think works wrong? There might just be something you're missing. Keep in mind that in the OCG private triggers have the same activation priority as fast effects.
@@TwistedBOLT the rulings database you're referring to isn't official. It's fan made and fan maintained. There is no official rulings database.
@@TwistedBOLT as for weird chain triggers, the only one that comes to mind is traptrix sera.
If during the course of a single chain you activate a normal trap and a traptrix monster effect (thus triggering both of sera's effects at effectively the same time) then Master Duel seems to just randomly decide which one to allow you to activate first, then lets you chain the second to it. (After passing priority. You can't chain block with it.)
It doesn't let you decide which one you want to activate first.
@@GeneralNickles The ruling database you're thinking of is the English translation of the official OCG ruling database maintained by YGORG. I was referring to the official database, in Japanese, maintained by Konami.
I wonder if this episode changed everything...
Sadly, no one told us, so we'll never know
This is how it’s always been. We’re back as we have been in weeks prior!
Is it lethal No it isn't then lethal me fast make me lose & end my stress! 😂
I've learned that doug could literally post an 8 hour long video of him spinning a wheel then make a wise crack about what it landed on and I'd watch it in its entirety.
Im so wheel pilled
I’ve never seen the term wheel pilled before but I’ve also never felt so well described by a term
I was yelling all along the first duel: "activate stealth attack the continuous trap, it would solve all of your problems!!"
So mad right now.
Yep. However, a player has to be careful with that as you cannot banish on activation. Typically best to activate it before your opponent can act.
yeah, both games could have been way quicker with Dzeef having no chance at all xD
I usually never mind people misplay or doing weird line but Doug spent both duel doing everything but using SSA make me crazy
Man, if only there was a way to keep the whale on the battlefield at the end of the battle phase... If only
he really had 2/3rds of umi control up and not using it
Doug really was trying his absolute best to throw this one. You need to establish Sea Stealth Attack as quickly as possible every time. Still fun to watch him "flounder" about with the quick plays.
Funnily enough, he said he liked playing the deck & tried building it afterwards. Maybe, one day, he'll change everything.
I built the actual deck afterwards and I've been playing it off stream a lot and wow did I mess up in this video lmao you live and you learn
"Once again Doug snatches defeat from the jaws of victory" is a phrase for a reason.
He tried but couldn't. The deck was too strong @@grugthink
@@quackduckquack Half of me think he does this unconsciously and the other half thinks he does this on purpose so he can up the win rate of Fabled, comparatively to other decks.
Ah yes, Water vs Industry, a classic matchup!
I mean it's not wrong
The amount of monsters Doug let die off the Sea Stealth 2 when he could have just banished them instead was unbelievable, it almost had to be intentional
When I opened the video and Joseph spun his wheel, I was wondering who from GX used a Machina Deck, and then I realized, this is not Character Roulette... YOU SCAMMED ME? Just like the title says. Haha
Glad I wasn't the only one that managed to get all the way to the wheel spin before actually reading the title of the video.
@@Syrinfox Nah, both of ya'll are in good company cause I didn't catch it either lol
We live in an era when our fingers are faster than our addicted brains.
Crusher run is a Trap, so it’s Spell Speed 2, so it will always trigger after all SS1 trigger effects have activated. Similar to how Droll can activate after the SS1 trigger effects and other fast effects.
Droll is a quick eff not a trigger though
@@flashghost exactly
Trigger-like effects of Traps can activate on SS1. The issue is what classifies as Trigger-like or Fast effect. Plus the ruling on Continuous Traps being face-up or face-down when effects meet their triggers.
🎉🎉 It’s back 🎉🎉 the best weekly show
if only Dough would read the stealth attack trap once just ONCE
He's really obsessed with a single spot removal. Also it's so frustrating how he could use it to avoid the sea stealth 2 destruction to just get free monsters
Bro did NOT say "From you 2000 years ago" so casually... like im crying now
plot twist: next week is character roulette 5DS and they are just gonna pretend GX finished already.
It was a 4kids reference the whole time
The danger! tsuchinucho neck pillow goes hard
A pillow should go soft
The machina trap is NOT a trigger. It is a quick effect. That's why you can't chain block
Is this the longest episode where Doug refused to read a card? Because I have never said "Please just use the SINGLE card that fixes your problems" so many times.
I wasnt surprised that dzeeff won when the packs were chosen. Rescue Ace and Machina don't necessarily synergize well and their good cards are all at a high rarity. meanwhile dzeefs n/r cards such as sea stealth and torrential are amazing in sealed
its probably the strongest pack for n/r.
I mean, he also flat out cheated by crafting a key card missing from the pack with A Legendary Ocean. Doesn't really matter what rarity it is when it is a card that's so crucial to the strategy that every deck runs the full 3 copies.
That was the stealthiest Sea Stealth Attack I've ever see 🤣😭
So many monsters lost that could have lived. So many negates and attack directlies not taken. So many attack protections missed.
I'm so happy this show is back 😍
Super excited to see the OG wheel make a return appearance! But what happened to Character Roulette...? We weren't done with GX yet, is it just... on hiatus, or something? I hope it's not gone, it's one of my favourite series in all of Yugitube!
Come on man, read the sea stealth trap! it places Umi from grave face up on your field! Even the sea stealth 2 that you just put in the grave because it is considered umi while in the grave or field, the trap protects your serpent from being destroyed by battle and can dodge effects until end phase. 24:10 you're killing me!
I didn't realize SS2 was umi in GY 😅👌
@@Dzeeff it's a subtle effect but it makes a huge difference in gameplay since you can then bring it back
@@Dzeeff The trap would have made Karyu-shin unkillable, saved monsters from dying at the end of the battle phase dodging the SS2 effect, and get rid of all the machina monsters just by attacking them with Karyu-shin.
The only thing the trap wouldn't have done is breakfast, but would have resolved EVERY major problem in the duel,
Also, you can banish monster special summoned by Sea Stealth 2 before it got destroy at the end of battle phase. You will get that monster back at the end phase which generate a lot of adventage.
Sea Stealth Attack is everything in this deck
@@Dzeeffone of these days douglas you will read your cards BEFORE you play them
Idk if you noticed this, but these pack spins must have been predetermined. I mean, it’s the classic matchup - Water vs Industry!
Edit: You did notice it
I do love how chat is screaming at Doug to use SSA to dodge the pop
I'm pretty sure you can activate jellyfish in the damage step, because while it does negate effects and not activations, it also changes attack/defense, and you can activate those effects in damage
Ready for the reason why it still can't despite that? The attack gain is optional so it still cannot activate in the damage step.
I'm so glad the best wheel series is finally back; best news I could've received today
"What you gonna do ? Summon Citadel on me ?" - Man about to get Citadel summoned on him
Sea stealth attack set up in game 1 would have helped you out loads more.. it activates the umi from grave sent by jellyfish when you summon ocean dragon lord. When you use the effect to banish until end of turn it protects all face up spells/traps from destruction effects and also when you use sea stealth 2's battle phase effect you can banish your monster to dodge it being destroyed at end of battle. Helps you maintain board presence.
water vs industry,,, truly one of the classic rivalries of all time
doug costantly avoiding chat's actuak help
Tbf a good chunk of the time they miss stuff just as much as him
He focused only on the people that can't read that tell him to do impossible plays, and misses the people suggesting actual good plays. Such is the life of a streamer with an active chat.
I mean he SHOULD. I don't come here to watch chat play. Though that could be a fun series lol.
I actually know the Crusher Run ruling! Citadel, being a city, and Jellyfish, being a jellyfish, are actually able to move much faster than a Crusher running at full speed. Jellyfish and citadels are well known for their mobility, after all.
its kind of upsetting to see doug giving his chat shit for not reading despite them being right because he just wont read sea stealth 1
Usually they're adding two extra words cause the original post missed them and they're crucial, given how this episode went I'm sure we could agree that understanding them is hard at the best of times and harder when you're just not reading the whole thing
Crusher Run is not a trigger effect, it's an activation requirement so it happens after trigger effects.
As an Umi Control player, i am disappointed in Doug. So simple, so effective, so consistent, so bricky
And when the world needed it most…. Master roulette returns
The worst trade deal in history
Desperate times call for desperate measures
To be fair, A Legendary Ocean was a total cheat of a craft since it is not in the pack.
crush cards zooming onto doug when he spittles saying fish is so funny
this was good, I enjoyed screaming at Doug to read the trap.
My dumbass was like "Oh I didn't know machina was a legacy support deck. Who in GX had that?"
"Oh, I guess they put Mako Tsunami back on the wheel. I don't remember when he was in GX."
Then I saw purrely on the wheel and realized what I was watching lmao
Fwiw there was a one off GX character who was the captain of a submarine and who used an Umi deck with A Legendary Ocean and Daedalus as his ace monster.
Doug just straight up nerfed himself by never activating the trap
I love that Master Roulette is back! I missed this!
Greatest thing that has ever happened to me. Was having such a subpar day but this changed the game.
You could say it CHANGED EVERYTHING
You could say DOUG DID WHAT?
Can't believe This episode is named from you 2000 years ago and the first master roulette episode was named for you 2000 from now! 😮
Just wait until Doug realizes you can get around the sea stealth 2 destruction effect by banishing the monster you summon with sea stealth 1 attack and making your spell traps invincible as well 😳
Loving the random AoT references.
33:50 ocg has a different ruling on how mandatory effects pass priority than the tcg I believe, it prevents chain blocking simultaneous effects because mandatory effect triggers, then priority passes, then optional effect triggers its pretty dumb
(feel free to call me out if I'm totally missing the ruling here lol)
(I wasn't paying a lot of attention tbh)
Thats not right, ocg has the same rules for simultaneous effects going on the chain (SEGOC), with the one exception being trigger effects in hand being treated as spell speed 2.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS ROULETTE, I LOVE THE TRADE OFFER SERIES (i keep saying this but please keep up cheating and trying to do trade offers and stuff, its so funny)
6:16 yup. It was my first experience with erratas. My friend was telling me the card changed effects and i didnt believe him. I was so mad.
straight back into the trade offers lets go!!!
Second back weekly Dzeff show is BACK BABY!!!
I’m sad but also happy that they used the clip of the kid who died.
Of course Peeps is in the chat when machines are being played
Would of been a faster game if doug used sea stealth attack ever
I like the bargaining to fix the holes in your deck.
Master Roulette is objectively better than Character Roulette, thank God this is back.
Not even a minute in and did Doug reference attack on titan?
Industry will rise again, from fetid puddles left behind by the evil water. Mark my words
16:36 makes sense
water puts out the fire
fire burns down industry
industry uses up all the water.
This changes everything (about my weekend)! I missed OG roulette
Also I have no idea how that ruling worked I hope that helps
Doug, put the Crystron pack in the wheel.
I thought that intro was gonna segway into a Helix Sleep Ad😂
Im gonna need the Sphweel every episode now
Doug must’ve been too frustrated with trying to learn the anime lore
Just drowning in the umi , homie didn't know how to swim at all
I will finally see them play mikanko one of these weeks. As it's my current favourite dexk
Are we gonna finish character roulette?
My God, my fav series is back. It's refreshing not to see Red Eyes for a while.
0:53 we have to get to the sea eren!!
This man had the out to fortress the Whole damn game 😂😂, read the sea stealth attack that you have set smh 😂
FINALLY peak is back AND mbt is using my favorite card machina citadel
Man I play Umi Controll and this frustrated me so much, activate Sea Stealth attack so when you use the effect of SSA2 to revive a monster from the GY at the end of combat you can bounce the revived monster with SSA thus preventing it from exploding when you leave the battle phase.
Ah Neo Daedelaus, you are so fun in GOAT in the Water Reasoning Gate deck.
So much hand ripping
Why no sea stealth attack for so long?
I literally watched this entire video and at the end I wondered, what gx character was the machina deck? Only to realize AFTER restarting the video to find out 😂😂😂 I just didn’t pay attention past yup wheel
It took me far too long to realise that this wasn't character roulette
with how this went you might as well have given mbt 3 urs in exchange for 3 rares lmao
Peak has returned!
I think the crusher run thing is just that it works the same way torrential tribute works
Doug playing Umi Control? Hell yeah!
Sea Stealth Attack? PLEASE read it. It's such a goated card to use in conjunction with Sea Stealth II.. also protects your backrow and Kairyu because of the battle pop effect
"I got two assholes, buddy." - Doug "FABLED!" Dzeef; 2024.
Ngl i was hoping we would see the Crystal Beast pack with the new cards before Character Roulette ended :/
was anyone else hyperventilating when douglas hovered over the set button on jellyfish
"How would you pronounce this guy?" As if MBT can ever pronounce cards correctly
Doug activating fish sonar before activating sea stealth 2 😢
Anyone else yelling at the screen for Doug to get the effing Trap every turn???
THE ORIGINAL ROULETTE HATH RETURNED! ALL THE NEW PACK ADDITIONS HAS LEAD TO A NEW MINI WHEEL SERIES RETURN!
We're so back, this changes everything
I still want mbt’s tsuchinoko head rest
Dougie needed to grab sea stealth attack. It plays umi from the grave and can protect his monsters/banish the whale to keep it from being destroyed at the end of the battle phase
Machina names did feel like amalgam words to me initially.
I said Un-class-spare, completely oblivious to spar-ray, and re-savenger like it’s scavenger without a c.
33:30 can someone send this to coder?
I was in Josephs chat during this, and I still have zero idea how they convinced him to not craft turbulence. He was worried he cant easily earch it, but like, Impulse summons it, he could have summoned it literally game 1 turn 1, whats doug going to do, remove it from the field with his Umi deck? Now you just immediately set 4 and win. Fortress is a decent card, but Turbulence is a game winning card with ways to see it (if a lot less than a constructed deck)
Peak content is back!
Doug not activating ss immediately to keep monsters off of ss2 and save the high levels from battle, and choosing fury over ss was agonizing, literally doubled the length of game two for no reason.
Doug, every time I see you search any card except Sea Stealth Attack, I just want to punch my screen. Then, when you have the card and not activate it, I just want to punch the screen again. Why? Sea Stealth Attack needs to already be face up to activate its effect of protecting backrow by tagging out a monster, and also, Kairyu-shin would have killed the machina many turns ago with sea stealth attack. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
The sneck pillow is so cute.
I love Doug but this was genuinely painful to watch. I get that he's never used this deck before but it's SSA is like the core piece of the deck that ties everything together, alongside Kairyu-Shin itself. Seeing him just turn after turn refuse to search or activate SSA was pretty frustrating, even if it is just a friendly duel at the end of the day.
