8:45 - Agree so much with this line of thought. Hypocrisy is often talked about as something to combat or how hypocrisy is this internal state. And it is. But to act like it exists in a vacuum and has no impact on what people in the church start to believe because of different thoughts or behaviors is also dangerous.
I define hypocrisy as holding others to a standard of accountability, creed, doctrine, and transparency, while holding a lesser standard for yourself. To put it in context, a hypocrite is not someone who is following Christ, but is still working to overcome a sin struggle. God's grace and mercy is covering them, while Christ is perfecting them. Instead, a hypocrite is someone that has or is receiving God's grace and mercy to work through a circumstance, issue, struggle - yet, they are unable to extend the same grace and mercy to others to allow them work through theirs. The parable of the Wicked Servant speaks to this.
Easton's Bible Dictionary - Hypocrite one who puts on a mask and feigns himself to be what he is not; a dissembler in religion. Our Lord severely rebuked the scribes and Pharisees for their hypocrisy ( Matthew 6:2 Matthew 6:5 Matthew 6:16 ). "The hypocrite's hope shall perish" ( Job 8:13 ). The Hebrew word here rendered "hypocrite" rather means the "godless" or "profane," as it is rendered in Jeremiah 23:11 , i.e., polluted with crimes. These dictionary topics are from M.G. The real Hypocrisy in the Church is most go to Church to just listen to the Preacher. But if you ask them how many of you have actualy read the whole Bible the answer would be very few have. When all you have to do is get a good Study Bible that you understand and a Biblical Dictionary and start reading daily. Before you go to bed and first thing in the Mourning. I don't understand why the panelists are not using the word of God to define and classify hypocrites which is at the foundation of hypocrisy. The gospel gives very direct descriptions of the actions of hypocrites.
I think they must tell the panel not to come using the Bible talk and just let’s all have real talk about how things really are going.I understand what you are saying and I understand them wanting to come that way.
Most of the scriptures that you listed in your other comment have to do with Pharisees. Curious. In the context of the church, not the synagogue, what do you think would be a contemporary analogy, equivalence or example of a hypocrite?
@@renatafnedab3003 Here's my thing. Jesus called out hypocrites because of their actions. Those same actions exist within the church today. I just want to make sure that the true actions are identified and called out according to what Jesus called hypocrisy. Not according to what society feels is hypocrisy. When you say "Bible talk" If God's Word is spoken with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, then Bible talk will cut both ways and truly correct, rebuke and train the audience. I believe there is nothing that hinders anyone from understanding what Jesus said about hypocrites and relating His Words over the the common understanding of mankind.
The church must stop skating the rink of TRUTH as a guest - becoming a frequent visitor and very familiar with the workings but offering no commitment to it. People skate around the TRUTH often because it offers the appearance of belonging to the TRUTH while avoiding cutting other skaters’ feelings who skate around from rink to rink.
