Proud to be Kenyan right now 🇰🇪, I'll definitely order one for my daily commute to work of 25 miles (40kms) and back home the same distance. 1 battery will be enough since it will give me 56 miles (90 kms) and I'll save on bus fare
You're right, it does look completely functional and utilitarian, even agricultural - like a Royal Enfield Himalayan adventure bike.
I think it would sell in the U.S., sorta like the VW Thing, just based on its weird looks. Just give us a "performance" model, maybe
with THREE batteries! :-)
US DOT compliance will also add some cost. Even the additional paperwork so it can be registered adds cost. The legal liability and just dealing with all the Karens adds cost.
This is why we cannot have nice, cheap things.
This actually looks good. Hope the quality is good and that they succeed.
They could simply have battery charger stations, where you swap your dead battery for a charged battery. And it'll charge the dead battery for the next guy.
Think that's what they already do.
This is an uncommon bodystyle in the US. But most Asian and African countries already have bikes like these called "commuter" bikes. Companies like TVS, Bajaj, Honda, Hero and many more have been producing this body style since the 80's
Check out LandMoto's land district. They're making a US electric motorcycle but what's unique is the battery. Being able to use the battery as a power source for regular electronics is something I wish other companies did.
The bike looks cool but the batteries look like a cheap filing cabinet, kind of takes away from the rest of the bike.
Probably because the bike is based on an Indian bike (Bajaj boxer) and they just modified it to make it electric.
I'd take one of these over my current electric cargo bike (20mph top speed) as a daily rider. 1. no spokes to break. 2 Thicker tires, less punctures. longer lasting and probably cheaper. 3. Power to climb hills. 4. No derailleur 5. Hopefully longer lasting brakes. Cost per mile driven will probably be less as this seems more durable. Oh and longer distance with the bigger battery.
Nice! We need more options in the E bike realm. This looks like a bike I'd like to ride. I'll have to check em out. Thanks for posting this!
African art is quite amazing. I've seen some nice bottlecap art and they may still use tin cans for soda.
Becoz everything good comes from white man that's what your mom taught you
Great vid guys! Thanks for the future possible heads up. 'Ya know, I really dig it. I love the old school large, well-padded seat and classic standard design. Some will fuss about the short range. But my to work & back loop is just under 60 miles and the roads range from 35 MPH to a short bit of 55 MPH speed limits. I can seriously see a market for one for folks using them as primarily a commuter. Looks cooler than a PCX150 scooter. (Although that is subjective as I personally dig scooters even though I have had a couple of ADV bikes and a few Harleys, all can be seen on my channel. lol )
See.. am from Kenya and usually motorbikes are used commercially for short commutes... Its an industry that employs about a quarter of the population... These electric bikes are taking over by storm.
This bike would be perfect for my daily commute. This is a very interesting proposition. Tfl try to buy one and test it even if it is not street legal it could make for good videos
If they keep the price at 3k or less they'll make a killing here. I'd buy one, esp if they increase speed to 65.
That thing with a short seat and rear for fun... Hell I would definitely get one. I would pay 1.5 times the price if I could get it here in Germany... Would be still tons cheaper than even a Sur Ron at ~4500.
talked to a rep from them yesterday, it'll be available in the states next year and will be street legal.
Did they say what it might cost stateside?
@@DCart007 they didn't mention the price, id say theyll increase the price a bit but I hope it's not too much higher.
Over here it would be cross-shopped against the Kymco K-Pipe probably. For hopefully less money I'd be more attracted to this. It's worth noting both are basically filling the market left behind by the CB100 or CB125 decades ago, now that Honda's current 125s cost quite a bit more.
Come out and ride with us aug 24-28th in Taylor Park we still need to compare tgw crf250l rally to the tw200
Can you guys do a series on the CSC SG250??? looks like a cheap fun little bike
Looks great. Hope Africa will be the upcoming continent in production - solar energy will make them unbeatable
I'll take it. Make that 2. Building my fleet, ya know....
In nairobi ...how much..where to find?
Sur rons are popular AF and this beats it in price and top speed in stock form.
It is based on the 150cc Boxer from Indian company Bajaj. An already very cheap reliable motorbike. Excellent base for an ev conversion.
Only problem is the motor, I have a very similar motor on an ebike I built and it only gets my bicycle to 30mph in top gear and then it runs out of steam.
@@dsphotographyedinburgh4973 I used a 6000w qsmotor hub for a project, top speed is about 70mph but I made it for amazing acceleration and top speed is only 50mph.
Under 3000w is moped speed.
My bet is that it's not even close to that price in the USA. The Honda Navi made in India was way under what it sells for here. If anything, it would sell for more just because it can. We shall see.
Good to see some new products coming here ( hopefully ) and especially from Africa! The sky's the limit for EV's for sure.
Elon Musk's 'Cyber Truck' apparently is the joke of the year. Ford, GM, and others sure have 'taken the wind out of Tesla's sails' so it would seem.
Tesla is shaking in their boots 🤣
@@Johnny2Feathers They should be!
@@regsparkes6507 ok buddy 👌🤦🏿
@@Johnny2Feathers Speaking of Tesla, I wonder what folks have to do when they've had to send their cars to an autobody repair shop?
I know ( for a fact ) that they ( Tesla cars ) are 'hellish 'to have repaired for the slightest of body damage issues.
These would be good for Amazons all female small parcel delivery women in India as they are using small CC cheap stepthrough scooters.
I don't think they need it. India is the largest two and three wheeler (tuk tuk) manufacturing country in the world. You can see many Indian bikes and tuk tuks in Africa but not the other way around. This electric bike is also based on an Indian bike that is sold in Africa. An Indian company has the largest two wheeler factory in the world and not surprisingly it manufactures only Electric two wheeler. It's Ola electric which beats this bike in every specifications.
I'm 47 years old, in rural Northwestern Illinois and I want a dual battery model.
Have a beautiful day Everyone
I want one!! 😀
Uff Que lleguen a México por favor!
If you haven't noticed UA-cam is pushing electric vehicles on the USA market
What is the battery chemistry?
You’re in the wrong place for that. Here you’ll only get all the good stuff that’s on the surface.
I want one
About time they get more mileage, but the USAgetting them? Lol.been waiting on a monkee for over a year.....
For a pure, on the road motorcycle small or large, I want a gas engine. More power and range to share the road with high power automobiles.
I build custom high performance 'pedaling' variety ebikes. A motor on a bike a human pedals to me makes great sense aka for lower speeds of less than 40 mph. But not for pure road going where pedaling is less relevant because of percent of human watts contributed. If I am riding my custom ebike 25mph, I may be contributing 150 watts and the motor contributing another 200 watts or so. At this motor watt expenditure, you don't eat right through the battery. But if you are riding a e-motorcycle at 40mph and not contributing pedal power, the power the motor consumes eats through a battery. Gasoline has 100 x's the energy density of a Li-Ion battery.
E-motorcycles eat too much battery when putting out the watts to travel at common secondary road speeds of 40-60mph shared with cars. For a low speed motorcycle, a Honda Trail 125 is a great utility motorcycle. Yes, more expensive than this e-motorcycle reviewed but to me, well worth it. E-motorcycles don't make sense to me but I love a high performance E-bike with pedals and frame geometry conducive to human pedaling with efficiency.
I don’t understand how they could even sell just the battery for that price.
@@Chriskelly19067 Child labor? 😂😂 You guys still think African countries like Kenya are still a banana republic. The price is low for people in America but is relatively expensive to majority of Kenyans. At that price it's still expensive for so many people in Asian countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh etc
This sounds so appealing but I have my doubts. Will it turn out to be vaporware like Tesla’s Cybertruck?
But the Cybertruck isn’t going to turn out to be vaporware .. no matter how much you hope it will.
If it's built anything like their helicopters then no I will gladly avoid.
If you know you know.
I don't think Kenya builds helicopters....yet...
@@marehemudanielarapmoi6424 I know they don't, I'm talking about the ones who tried.
Keep drinking the Kool-Aid, boys. Soon you'll be able to ride a whole 100 miles (under lab conditions).
I mean I love Kool aid
Yep! It won't matter much then. Enjoy the energy drink cocktail; it's powerful stuff.
