    NASA should figure out something like the bumblebee and then make a second moon to go to with it.

      Keep in mind that airbreathing engines in KSP can easily hit 15 - 30% of Kerbin's orbital velocity, whereas irl airbreathing engines would be lucky to get 5%.

    To simplify costs down, I think you can land on the Minimus with your EVA pack, and take off and dock with the remaining mono propellant in the suit. As well, I think there is a certain way to land a Kerbal on their head to survive a fall, so they don't need a parachute xd.

    • @mesoth5848
      @mesoth5848 7 років тому

      TheNeonGuy It works, but another way. You can land leg-first (probably head-first too) but to survive, you need to slow down with a jetpack. It works best when splashing in the water.

    Today, this rocket would be much more effective, as the efficiency of the "Spark" engine has been greatly increased, from 300s to 320s.

    • @Bramswarr
      @Bramswarr 8 років тому +1

      +Tai Lopez im not going to put a tutorial here, but the gist of it is you get as fast as possible with the jet engine (hopefully somewhere close to 1500 or 2k m/s, since 2k/s is about orbital velocity in ksp), then you turn on some rocket engines to get into orbit. it also must be very aerodynamic in order to break the sound barrier (~340m/s at surface level)

      I just realized something after watching this video a second time. "Faster - better - cheaper" was NASA's motto after spending a bunch of money. Same thing went on here it seems. That's a pretty neat reference.

    • @turbopumped6490
      @turbopumped6490  8 років тому +7

      Thanks im glad someone finally noticed it : )
      This policy led to a string of pretty disastrous malfunctions before NASA decided to take their time and do things properly again.

    • @erictheepic5019
      @erictheepic5019 8 років тому +2

      Turbo Pumped Yep. I'm reading a book on it. One such disasters was Genisis, which because of money limits didn't have a proper test in the right conditions, and as such the thing that would deploy the parachute failed, and it plumeted to the ground. We still learned from it though, both in the way that cheap rockets are a kinda bad idea, and also what the mission intended to inform us about.

    Why do you waste so much fuel when u start so that it glows like in reentry? is this really the most fuel saving way? what program u use to calculate the asecend? is there any?

    • @Zamolxes77
      @Zamolxes77 8 років тому +1

      He probably uses none and he doesn't waste fuel, he's actually very efficient. Atmosphere drag has been changed since .90 I believe so the flatter your trajectory, the better - less fuel.

    • @MrTiti
      @MrTiti 8 років тому +1

      thank you for your reply, it would be good he would reply too, or anyone who can backup some info with the ascend

    • @Zamolxes77
      @Zamolxes77 8 років тому +1

      MrTiti Here's the info. If you're playing 1.1.3, then launch your craft and start your gravity turn when you have a speed of 100 m/s. When you reach 10 km up, you should be tilted to 45 degrees, that's the trick pretty much. Just go out and try it.

    • @MrTiti
      @MrTiti 8 років тому +1

      okay thanks a lot.
      my spacecraft have a very low power margin cause i am at the start of my career. they are so weak they barely get up to speed, however i started the turn at 5km, very gentle. because then the TWR is better. however i never used stabilizers (parts limit= so tilting more than 2deg compared to direction of travel amde it "flip" and twist... :) so highest difficulty. in vanilla with keyboard thats real hard. hradest art at the beginning of career, then easy game.
      i will try your version!

    • @Zamolxes77
      @Zamolxes77 8 років тому

      MrTiti So farm some science and tech up. If you use the Swivel engine, you don't need stabilizers because its a gimbaled engine.
      I went to the Mun, orbited and came back, with a 30 parts ship AND no maneuver nodes, not even patched conics.
