About This Video:
Chess rating climb and speedrun from 1000 to 1200. I play against 1000-1200 rated players and explain the thought process. Let me know if you have any questions/comments.

Just found this channel the other day. Appreciate the explanations throughout as well as the fact that each move you play makes sense. I find a lot of gm games and channels are far too complicated to follow.
Glad you enjoy it!
Nelson can you do a video on the importance of the centre. A lot of 600-1400 have a basic understanding but don’t know how the concept plays out practically in a lot of positions. For instance when is a good time to open up etc
Thanks , keep up the good work
Your channel is so underrated this is too good
I appreciate that!
Man you make chess look so easy. Your best vids are the chess principles and these rating climbs where you play rated ppl. Plz more of these 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks, will do!
went from 900 to 1150 over the last 90 days.
My personal answer was
1) stop playing drunk at 3am and
2) stop blundering pieces
No strategy / theory necessary but I'm gonna watch the video anyway to shore up anything else I should have been learning.
Nothing better than drunk and high play
Fantastic chess lessons! I believe I’ve learned a great deal just by watching a master play and explain your thoughts along each move. I say this is the best way to learn chess. Thank you so much for your diligent explanations and teaching.
A couple months back you asked what opening we'd like to see featured next. I wouldn't mind seeing King's Indian Defense. I heard it was a decent response against 1.d4.
Good suggestion! I will see what I can do. If I come across d4 in the rating climb I will give it a try. 👍
@@ChessVibesOfficial 2 weeks late but yes do it! i am a Kings indian player!
Greetings...Like to say Hi, Nelson. There's something about you, that is very Honest and varies from other's. I do like your ending of video's...True words and always a feel good ending. Hope all is well - from Australia. "Play Smart Stay Sharp"...that's Gold. I enjoy your content and channel...Thanks.
Wonderful explaination.. slowly so that all can understand.. thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Consistency! Thanks for amazing video it's not for me but I can learn alot still! Thanks...
You’re incredible! Keep making videos!
Love dis guy
23:02 why didn't you take with a knight? After trading you win 3 points of material
Edit: oh, that was a bad idea - white queen takes - -2 of material, white knight takes - +1 of material
I am approximately at this level (a bit over 1100) and I find this really helpful. It helps me visualize how to read the board and plan my future moves. I think I focus too much on the little picture and mostly forget to develop my pieces in time.
i m more at 1025.... yes, it is interesting, i like to watch. But i still dont know, how to "climb" up to 1200. I m losing, when i m blundering first, and winning when my opponent blunders even earlier. So on that level, its only about heavy mistakes and noticing and exploiting them.
16:40 why not Bf6? Wouldn't that also defend everything?
take with pawn
How do I volunteer as sacrificial tribute for your next rating climb?
haha you can add me on chess.com and if I remember I will see if you're online when I'm doing that rating range but most of the time I'm in a rush to squeeze the recording in before bed so it might be tough to catch me.
Really enjoy your videos, great job explaining your moves!!! doesn't bishop f8 trap the queen 16:25, or am I missing something.
After bishop f8 he could play Qxf4.
@@Kerkko813 ya i completely missed it, thanks
Probably a dumb question, but at 13:19 what about be6?
I don't see anything dumb about this question. Seems like not a bad move, as this bishop will prevent black from castling, and also there looks to be no easy way to chase this bishop away. On the other hand, this bishop has already moved before, so moving one piece multiple times is generally not a good practice in the opening while you still have other pieces undeveloped. plus, there's already one pawn hanging so I think a better idea is to do something about it than to create another unprotected piece. however Nelson did actually leave this pawn hanging so I don't know :)
Will u continue this series...upto 2000+
That's the plan :-)
How can I challenge 2000+ as a 1100 rated player
Go to church . Get on your knees . Pray to god . Pick up the rosary and play .
Rakan you can challenge them but it's unlikely most will play against you unless you know them.
