An idea could be to write on a sticker under each key the name of the second or third function. It may not be the cleanest look but could help till you gain the muscle memory perhaps. :) All in all, nice review!
I just bought this as my first panel - the original micro seemed both expensive and a bit under 'powered' - this one lowers the price and adds a lot of functionality! I too think the Auto Color is silly - anyone sophisticated enough to want a panel will NOT be using that ever (why buy a panel if you just want to hit one auto button). Hopefully they will allow more programming of the buttons in the future to re-map features. And maybe someone will come up with a keyboard cover with 'cheat sheets' for the shift up and down functions (though many are pretty intuitive and will probably be easy to memorize after a bit of use) Merci beaucoup!!
I'm not running around with my panel; it's hard-wired into my editing desk. The new Micro Panel feels like a toy, (auto-color button!!!) so I'm sticking with the old, sturdy, and stable Micro Panel.
Thanks for the review Chloe. Whilst this doesn't come with a copy of the Studio license, it would be great if BMD offered an ipad license. I guess we can live in hope.
@@martinclay7557 Actually I prefer them NOT including a license- if they did the price would be hundreds more- & if you already own a Studio license then you don’t need another…
@@GlobalShutterNY The ipad license only cost £99 here in the UK and it doesn't cover the desktop versions so you would need two licenses. When the speed editor came out they had a special promotion that included the studio license. If they did that again but with the ipad license it would be great.
How did you make the iPad Version work with the Panel? Version 19 is not yet out of Beta? Would love to know. Great Video. Thanks for making. Cheers Daniel ❤
Hi Daniel, the 19 version has just been released today ! With this version you will be able to use fully your Davinci Resolve for iPad with your Micro Color Panel :) It was possible to connect it with the 18.5 ipad version but there were some functions you couldn't access, so I advice you then to update your app ! :)
I have just replaced my old micro panel with the new one and I love it. It takes up less room on my desk as does sop much more with the extra buttons. My only criticism is, I just wish Blackmagic had chosen a different surface coating as mine is already full of finger prints. With regards to the Auto Color I am not against it as it does give someone who is new to color grading a starting point and to my surprise it works on the timeline without going to the color page. This is an interest idea with auto color from Alex Jordan ua-cam.com/video/NLT-Ozou20w/v-deo.html
Thank you for your honest review. In another review it was mentioned that due to the low height of the rings, the balls protrude and can be touched unintentionally. What do you think?
I have heard the build quality on the new one is not as good and that the track ball movement not being as smooth on the new version. Can you share your thoughts on these two points? They are the only reasons making me not jump on the new one yet.
I tried both the old and new panels. The heaviness of the old micro panel makes it feel like youre dping something of significance. The build quality makes you feel like youre working on something solid and meaningful.
Is there anything the old panel can do that the new one can't? The price & portability aren't a huge deal for me as both are on sale and i only edit at home.
The Mini panel offers more features still than the new Micro Color Panel. With the Mini panel. For example, you have the possibility to add points on your curves and handle their positions just via the panel, you can access to the ofx and handle it from the panels ...etc etc
Hello, I bought it for my Apple Mac mini computer, but I could not run a song from within the program. Can you please help me with this? I am really sorry that it does not work :(
About responsiveness, you can adjust the sensivity of the balls and rings in Preferences > User > Color Panels
Yes you can :)
It's just that out of the box, it is not as smooth as the Micro Panel and I wanted to point it out :)
Hi it's works on davinci studio 18 version ??@@frenchiecolorgrading

Yes, they are coming up for the next firmware update with the possibility to map the user button to keyboard shortcuts !
This is something exciting !
...would program the LOG to the AUTO-Button...
Really cool insight Chloé! Thanks for sharing! I've yet to try it :)
Thank you Douglas !
Ahah, when I travel to France, I can let you play with it :p
Love your honest review. Thanks!

I still haven’t had this issue yet :)
But I can understand the comment
Finally just got mine, Hopefully we can remap Auto colour!

And ? The feeling is more important than the result ?
I still waiting new stock in my country 😢 it’s very hot product right now 😅
Yes, very hard to find some yet in my area too

Why would someone go for the mini panel instead of this one? What more it has to offer?

@@frenchiecolorgrading Thank you for your swift reply Frenchie. Jpense que jvais opter pour le nouveau micro pour l’instant.
I wonder how you used the panel with iPad if there is no Davinci 19 for iPad yet.
I would think it likely that if BlackMagic sent her a free panel, they would have also sent her a beta version of iPad Resolve that works with it.
Im interested in that as well ❤
Nice review - but the "music" is absolutely annoying!
I'm so happy I returned mine that's all I know. 😂😃

Can I connect this panel to previous version 18.6 studio?
Nope. It's meant for v 19 only. Which was released this week. So why go back.
I think you might need to use that panel on your yellow skintones. 😂
