An essential part of the removal process was skipped. Removing an 8mm bolt between fender and bumper cover "behind" fender liner. If you do not take the bolt out, the bumper will not come off. We just did it so we know of what we speak!
Thank you very much Jim, your video helped me a lot. I wouldn't be able to do it without your video.
Thanks for watching and your positive feed back

Ahh man, I was hoping beyond hope I wouldn't have to take off the bumper cover...
Sorry but it is really not that bad
Thank god for your video. I am about to do this is weekend. Got some aftermarket ones on ebay. I should probably just go ahead and replace the lightbulbs too huh?
Matt Holmgren yes that is a good idea
I have mazda 3 05 , the worst head light & low beam . I installed all kinds of bulbs but still not really bright .
What the difference between the mazda 07 vs 05 exept the grill same process??
very good video
thanks a lot
do you have plans to replace tail break lights?
+toshift2 Thank you for your feedback. No I will not be changing the rear lights but the next one that i do replace i will post a video .Jim
hard as hell🤬
well that says a lot about user-serviceability.
I have an 01 protege. Does the bumper have to come off?........thanks !!
Yes the front bumper cover will have to come off.The procedure should be almost the same.Good luck let me know how you do .Jim
Was that the new ones at the start or were they old cuz they looked new to me... mine are like faded to bits and driving at nigh my fog lights were brigher.. loool
Sounds like a Italian
Thank you so much for the video! We have a 2004 Mazda 3 hatchback and this video was so helpful!
For those with a 2004...the only difference is an extra bolt on each side connecting the fenders to the bumper. It's a 8mm bolt hidden in the wheel well and must be removed to detach bumper.
+Roger Swonger Thank you for watching and your input
damn was hoping it would be a 5 minute job lol, thx
+Jon Focker You could not be so lucky. You know the manufacture engineer"s stay up late just thinking how to screw with us.Lol
jimthecarguy
would not surprise me. i just got the car so i have no clue about working on it. i imagine you have to remove a control arm to get to the oil filter
Nine years ago….Holy Smoke!

Any time you have to remove the entire bumper and headlight assembly just to change a light bulb.. thats a 100% design fail..
Yes I agree.
Thank you!!! Now I can do this myself. You saved my money lol
I’m currently at 9:00mins in this video, and loving it!!!!
Reminds me of taking out my Audi mk1 TT headlights.
Thanks heaps for all your efforts, in putting this video out there for all of us to learn from.

Ah fun... have to tighten the headlight bracket and didn’t want to go this far but I have no choice now. Mazda 5 2006 damn....thanks for the video. Now I have a project for this weekend
Thanks so much for sharing the video! Just changed out both headlamp assemblies on my 2009 Mazda 3 with no problems! Couldn't of done it without your video!
At the end when you said
“Not to bad when you know what you’re doing”.
27:06 words have never been spoken.😏
Thanks again!
I just bought new headlights for a girl… smooth is fast!!!
I’ll watch this a few more times between now and the weekend.😂

My pleasure!
Great video. I need to replace the passenger side assembly on my '06, it is the HID version. Is the connection to the balast assy easy to see once the headlight pops out? Is it the same process?
do you need to do the alignment of the lights?
Very helpful but too long, no mention of the need to check headlight aim alignment.
Jim,
I realize this video is a few years old but do you happen to have the low beam retaining spring that holds the H7 bulb in place from this assembly that you replaced? I need that clip for my headlight assembly and Mazda does not sell it separately. Thanks...Cap
Sorry the old lenses are long gone
Thank for the video, can't believe Mazda made it so hard to replace the headlight. Im helping a friend today with his Mazda, this is a lot of help!!!
Thanks for your feed back.Good luck if you need any advice let me know.Jim
Fake...i have a 2009 and i dont remove anything to replace the bulb
I need to do this on a 2014 Mazda 3 Hatchback. Do you think the procedure would be almost the same?
It should be very close. If you need any information let me know .I will be happy to help.Jim
Wow that's too much work for headlights. For the Taurus I used to have, all you had to do was unscrew two bolts and pull a lever up and pull the assembly out.
+Zackasee_ Oh yea I remember those cars. They were very easy.Lol
a thousand thanks
Thank you for this video! We have a 2011 Mazda3 and are about to replace one headlight assembly that has a faulty seal and has allowed condensation into the headlight. It keeps blowing out the turn signal. My question is threefold - are there after market light assemblies? Are they similar in fit and appearance as a Mazda part in your opinion? And if so, will they install just as easily? Much thanks!
+Kelly Hall Very good question.Yes I would go with the after market lights they are much cheaper and look the same.you would install them the same way.The parts I use in my video are after market parts and as you can see you can not tell the difference .If you run into any problems let me know I can talk you through.Let me know how you do.Jim
Thank you for watching and your input
What the difference between the mazda 07 vs 05 exept the grill same process??
It should be the exact same.Good luck let me know how it works for you.
Great video. Any advice if those clips for the low beam are broken?
No if they are broken the you ether need to replace the light or improvise.
Any videos for the driverside head light? All of these videos are all passenger side
Thanks for watching .The driver side light is an exact mirror image of the pass side.Good luck Jim
you should have check to see if the lights were working when you were done otherwise nice video
+Black Heart Thanks for watching and your input.
Worst lamp design ever!
my daughter has a 2007 mazda 6. is the replacement procedure basically the same?
Yes it should be the same.Let me know how you do.Thank you for stopping by the shop
thanks.. probably won't swap them out till spring when it warms up... great video.. very detailed and informative
Thanks for the video really helped me but remember proper lighting is vital for these videos.
Thank you for watching .Sorry about the lighting.I hope it helped you .
Jim, it really did. I had a little trouble getting the 2 tabs loose under the grill but other than that went real smooth. Thanks again.
Not all heroes wear capes
Great video! I'm changing my headlight units from my 08 Mazda 3. I'll definitely use this video.
Thanks for your comment. You will be very happy how easy it is to replace. If you need any information let me know

+Svenn Martinsson I'm not sure but if you e mail me at work tomorrow I can check for you.
Ill need an email. :)
You can get me through UA-cam that my be the best
+jimthecarguy ok ill try... keep in mind im like 7 hrs ahed of you GMT 0
Are you sure it is an 03 I'm not sure that the Mazda 3 was made then
Thank you and appreciate your expertise. Only consideration is that a 24 min may be too long and could be shortened by editing (more work I know). But watching every screw removal in real-time may cause people to skip through sections of the video and result it missing critical info. Thank you for your efforts and instruction.
poor lighting nice try
