  • Most guitarists have owned or at least encountered Shubb’s original C1 capo. More than a million of them have been sold since its introduction in 1979, and it is one of the most popular capos available. More recently, Shubb came out with the yoke-style FineTune capo, which has quickly gained a following with guitarists who prefer a vintage-style design that can be placed behind the guitar’s nut when not in use. In this video, Peghead Nation’s Teja Gerken demonstrates both designs and gives tips on how to place them on the guitar’s neck.

I don't understand. Why only 5 playable frets! Shouldn't thr capo move all the way up to the 14th fret?

It really just depends on your guitar and the string spacing. What he's saying is that some guitars have tapered necks, where they're narrower around the nut and get wider as you go up the fretboard, so maybe there's a point where the F1 won't be wide enough on a particular neck. If you need wider, then go for the F3. I guess you could just use the F3 for everything, but it's possible that the tension wouldn't be ideal if it was used on a neck that's too narrow. It's difficult to make a product that works on every single guitar out there, because there's so much variety.
