Hello Jerry, I hear lots of arguments for how to "zero" pistol sights (POA=POI vs 6 o'clock hold). Any chance you could make a video explaining your choice for your style of shooting?

RANGE SAFETY TIPS....Great video, enjoy your content on both channels. It speaks volumes that your willing to try something new and foreign to you for all to see. The shooting sports generally have a crawl, walk, run learning curve and just like your barndominiums should be built on a solid foundation. But hey, if your competing with Matt, I get why your starting at a jog. As retired FLE and USDOJ Certified firearms instructor and weapons expert responsible for training and qualifying agents/officers for well over a decade a few tips on range safety protocol. We don’t load the weapon and walk down range with it at our side. Your weapon should remain in your holster at all times until you are on the intended firing line. Once on the firing line you’re free to load when ready or as instructed. On the firing line you can perform dry fire drills, work on your draw stroke or sight alignment/picture. If you’ve fired several rounds, your weapon remains hot, and you have a question either holster or bring it in to a ready gun position (2 hands on the weapon, hands pulled back to center of your chest close to your body) finger off the trigger. From this position you can ask questions. You should keep your body squared to the target at all times and do not step off the line or turn your body to ask a question. We can hear you even if your not looking at us. Anytime you are shooting on a firing line with another shooter as in the dueling tree drill/competition, you must remain on the firing line until the drill is over. If you have a problem, a malfunction or are out of ammo do not step off the line until everyone is done firing and the line has been deemed safe. I know it can be confusing and there are a lot of facets to upholding proper range safety that you may not be familiar with. But, once you know them and can hold yourself and others you shoot with accountable everyone can remain safe. Keep practicing, keep up the great content, and good luck against Matt. Saludos de DFW.

Very interesting tip from Jerry on focusing on the dot at 7:50. I had always heard from self defense instructors like Aaron Cowan to always target focus, and that's what I've always done. If I'm understanding Jerry correctly, it makes sense in a competition context to focus on the dot, and trust what it and your trigger control is telling you so you don't spend extra time confirming your hits.

Erik, I hope that you get some practice in, Idk when you are going up against Matt, I can't add anything to what Jarry told you because I don't qualify enough to pick up his brass. Jerry's father-in-law founded Clark Custom Guns and that was back in the old school days of iron sights, Jim was one of the best Bullseye shooters at the nationals and knew all the best pistol guys. Jerry comes from a legacy of hard-working people in the pistol industry, you got some once in a lifetime instruction one on one with him. -Dave

Ha! You’re killing it, and Jerry is a great secret weapon. It goes to show, skill is skill and it transfers well between platforms.
As a competition pistol shooter and range officer, just one tip - keep your muzzle pointed downrange. Nothing you did was unsafe, but dropping your muzzle straight down between strings like that would get you DQ’d at a USPSA match, or at the very least make an RO kind of twitchy.
Definitely upping the ante on the content - keep it up!
