Hello! Thank you, that's lovely of you to say! As it happens, the first part of WIP Wednesday this week is a new dress ua-cam.com/video/Za9LcBFVfW8/v-deo.html
I'm sure the sewing police have informed you that it is a raglan sleeve. It actually works nicely for less fitted tops or dresses. More comfy. Love your fab.
Style Arc are known for being overly reticent on their instructions. For those button loops I use small elastic hair bands but I think next time you make it, just sew the back straight up or cut on the fold. The dress looks great on you.
When I lived in Melbourne with my aunt and her family in the 70’s…I accidentally walked into a Orb web🤦🏻♀️…never saw one when I lived in New Zealand. I was in the belief my vaccination spot on my arm was a spider bite - being 10 years old will do that to you🤪
Nice dress And enjoyed the video Can I suggest Grab the scraps and make heaps of button hole Once you’re in the swing it’s actually quite fun Good luck hey
I just made two shirts and a pair of shorts from a linen duvet cover with two yards to spare. I love using bedding to sew. I got mine from IKEA’s As Is section.
Some of the fabrics in bedding are just gorgeous, I'd much rather wear them out and about than hide them in the bedroom where only I and my dog will see them lol
Love your comment about buttonholes. I ended up doing zips before any big projects with buttonholes as I found them more intimidating somehow. 😅 Nice make!
Omg thank you so much for making this video, you're just hilarious, please make more so many more, you've made me laugh so much. Thank you, and keep going xx
I thank the almighty algorithm for suggesting this video. I checked it your channel and saw weaving (something I've always been drawn to but minimally played with). I heard your greeting and immediately heard an Aussie kindred spirit and hit subscribe :) Good luck on your UA-cam journey :)
Great idea to use thrifted bedding to make up a pattern before using your “bee fabric”. We all have that special, precious “bee fabric” that we’re afraid to use and end up wasting and ruining.
Wow, came upon this, I am pretty darn sure that I had that duvet cover, from many years ago, I think it was from a company called Sheridan a mall store back in 90's I think! The dress came out cute!
Just made the Hope dress as well. I skipped the loop and button completely, even made the back bodice in 1 piece 😂 Love the choice of fabric on your dress!
@@FrogglinI can only imagine. Really struggled with the pockets already, not being an experienced sewist. But absolutely love the finished dress, will make another one too :)
I love this dress, and the fabric is gorgeous. What a fabulous job you did! Do have a go at buttonholes, especially if your machine has an automatic one. I avoided making things with buttons for years, but as soon as I got up the courage to use my machine's auto buttonhole, I realised how easy it was and I've done hundreds of the things now.
Love your dress the fabric is gorgeous, do you think you could get away with cutting the back bodice on the fold to save sewing up the back ? Love your sense of humour, have subscribed 🤩🥰
Thanks! And yes, the next time I make this I'll do the back as one piece. I'm glad I did the loop and button but I only need to do that once - such a faff!
No kidding! The pattern is $20 AU and fabric at $11.00/yard US we are talking nearly $70.00 for a simple self-made dress! I have searched in the 2 local thrift shops and found nothing nearly as nice as yours!!
The only difference between an inexperienced sewer making buttonholes and an experienced sewer making them is ... experience. My advice is to make rows of buttonholes in scrap fabic to get experience. Then, when you work on a garment, have no distractions, go over the steps mentally, take a deep breath, take your time, and just do them.
Thank you! The dress looks great and the pattern placement is lovely! I love your humour and encouragement on making the Hope dress.
Really enjoyed your ignoring loose threads and friends falling into your sleeves over coffee. Subscribed.
Lovely to have you here! Welcome :)
Great dress ! Fun video !
Lovely ❤
PS Goud on you Mate. Great to hear an Aussie accent.
Don't be afraid Do it!!! Practice Practice Practice
Well done with the pattern matching and placement. It looks great!
I love this! And love your vibe and gorgeous dress. I came across you doing some hope dress reccy. I wish you sewed more garments. xxx
Hello! Thank you, that's lovely of you to say! As it happens, the first part of WIP Wednesday this week is a new dress ua-cam.com/video/Za9LcBFVfW8/v-deo.html
Beautiful!! I love stylearc!
Me too!! I have some more of their patterns I have to get around to making.
I'm sure the sewing police have informed you that it is a raglan sleeve. It actually works nicely for less fitted tops or dresses. More comfy. Love your fab.
You know, I've made something with raglan sleeves before now you mention it, and the penny didn't drop here! Thanks :)
Well done. I would skip the loop button. Enjoyed your humor. Remember to Click the LIKE a button people.❤❤❤
I have made this dress again and did skip the button... Much faster!
Style Arc are known for being overly reticent on their instructions. For those button loops I use small elastic hair bands but I think next time you make it, just sew the back straight up or cut on the fold. The dress looks great on you.
I have since made it again and left out the button entirely, which was much quicker and fits just fine.
You are hilarious, best sewing video I've watched! Will be watching more, thanks!
A small friend up your sleeve? 😂you’re a scream! 🤣
Most entertaining 😅
Lovely dress , lovely job .
Funny lady 😁 thank you for this video
Doing it…and you are so funny. I waved as you said - ‘…going to see the golden orb’🙋🏻♀️🤣
To be fair, she was a beautiful little beastie!

You did an amazing job of pattern matching. Congrats
Good job 👍 what a fun dress 😊I’m inspired to make now.
Great shoe choice😊

This dress looks so lovely and comfy, you've convinced me to get the pattern!
You’ve convinced me to buy that pattern! Great video.
I hope you have fun with it!
You did a great job. Well done. Trust your machine to do buttonholes. Practice on some scraps. They will be great.
Every time I find my manual I think "Now I will learn how to buttonhole" but I get distracted and wander off haha
Love your comment about buttonholes. I ended up doing zips before any big projects with buttonholes as I found them more intimidating somehow. 😅 Nice make!
I keep planning to have a go at buttonholes but they're too scary!!
I just hate it when my friend falls into my sleeve during coffee! OK, maybe I'll brave a Style Arc pattern....
I hope you do, they have some lovely designs (and some odd ones, but each to their own!)
New subscriber! You are so funny and down to earth. I love your Hope dress and yes, keep the elastic on the arms.
Welcome and thank you!!
Omg thank you so much for making this video, you're just hilarious, please make more so many more, you've made me laugh so much. Thank you, and keep going xx
You'll make me blush! Happy to raise a smile though!

I still have not found the perfect project for my Bees!
Wow, came upon this, I am pretty darn sure that I had that duvet cover, from many years ago, I think it was from a company called Sheridan a mall store back in 90's I think! The dress came out cute!
How cool! I'm sure it was an awesome duvet cover, I'd have it on my bed if I hadn't made a dress out of it instead haha
I’m curious about the Golden Orb Weaver now…
Just made the Hope dress as well. I skipped the loop and button completely, even made the back bodice in 1 piece 😂
Love the choice of fabric on your dress!
I skipped the button on the second one I made because I simply couldn't be bothered dealing with it again haha
@@FrogglinI can only imagine. Really struggled with the pockets already, not being an experienced sewist. But absolutely love the finished dress, will make another one too :)

Perhaps it shall be my new years resolution to be brave about button holes!
Love this ❤❤❤ inspired me to get out my pattern and actually make it for this summer in Yorkshire
I'm excited for you!
Great video and sense of humor. Subscribed after watching.
Thank you and welcome!
It looks great! ❤
Thank you!
Oh this is too fun!
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Nice one,, birds on the breast great pattern placement and match.
Matches your head band perfectly.
Thank you for entertaining me by doing stuff.
I had to dig the headband out because I've cut my fringe too short and didn't want anyone to know my forehead secrets.

Thank you! Looking at making Hope Dress number 2 now.
No kidding! The pattern is $20 AU and fabric at $11.00/yard US we are talking nearly $70.00 for a simple self-made dress! I have searched in the 2 local thrift shops and found nothing nearly as nice as yours!!
And then, having spent a fortune on fabric, I'm supposed to *cut it up*??
Lol, hugs to you ❤
I don't trust it... I'm not there yet 😂. Me vs buttonholes same predicament
They are genuinely alarming!

I like your dress very much.
I feel like 2023 is definitely my year for buttonholes.
