Riding north on this portion of the #1 line, the track just about stays level and the ground itself literally drops away and then comes back as the line then continues with some deep stations. Very interesting to see how they decided how to deal with getting past the valley and seeing the amazing engineering and construction of the era. It looks like the elevated structure emulates the beauty of the nearby Riverside Drive Viaduct. Back in those times beauty as well as function was important whether elevated or subway stations, roadways, fire alarm boxes, street lights and on and on. Thanks for this short and the channel.

I can watch all evening, it is totally amazing something built over 100 years ago, no computers, no special equipment, so to say, and it is still around today and serviceable. I've seen structures built less than 10 years ago that are falling apart. Thanks for presenting this.

Much appreciated. Oh yeah tons of little things not executed over the years. Happy to have you on board with us. We have some Jerome/Polo Grounds shuttle content in the works for late summer.

Thanks, Rob. Found this a very interesting video. I've always wondered about how (knew the why) the viaduct was built.

I would definitely love to see how they build the 8 Thrid Ave Elevated line all the way to Manhattan?

there is a section of track on the IRT 4 LINE that has what looks like an underground bridge. Any idea for a short video on this topic?

It's a dual level truss that carries the Grand Concourse and the Subway over the New York Central right of way Todays Metro North.

We can absolutely do a future short of the topic.
