I wasn’t sure about this, because I enjoy your normal format so much Charlie. But it was a very interesting and informative look at Richard’s layout and you did a great job of highlighting some fascinating details. I particularly like your “honesty” regarding camera work and stuff that sometimes goes wrong in your videos - “that’ll be the phone” :) - and I loved the DMU racing towards the camera, which looks like it was just rescued in time. Interesting, informative AND amusing too - well done Charlie - my Patreon contribution to you is the best value for money I get each month! And finally, thanks to Richard for letting us see his layout and benefit from his ideas and experience.
I am more than happy to watch more videos like this, so yes please. I particularly like the moving footage from the front of the loco as well as all the detail.
Hi Charlie - really enjoyed this video. Please thank Richard for being kind enough to share it with us. Loved the way he lit those low-relief shops! Very ingenious! I enjoy all your videos but the idea of an occasional side trip to see what other modellers have done is definitely something I'd like to see more of, along with your wonderful "how to" videos from Chadwick.
Like to know a bit more about the construction of the frame work and baseboards as well. It's nice to see I'm not the only one who mixes cardboard and plastic building kits on a layout.
I enjoy layout videos very much. What made this one work well was putting a layout diagram in the video so we can understand where the camera was taking us. Well done. Thank you. Dennis.
What a wonderful layout! Lots going on which is what one wants (particularly at exhibitions, where sometimes there isn't much going on...) Richard must've had lots of fun building it and I'm sure he has a lot of fun running it and sharing it with friends. I watched it all the way through, which doesn't happen with quite a few layout vids! Many thanks, Richard and Charlie.
Charlie, Thank you for mixing it up. Even in Australia, we are not having any model railway shows, and we do miss them, or at least I do. It is great to catch up with fellow enthuasists, and discuss options and opinions, and the display layouts, and gleam ideas. Please thank Richard for sharing his great layout, it is marvellous. Keep safe, and keep us all informed and entertained in these trying times. Michael
That was a nice change and a very nice layout indeed. Its always good to see someone else's, appreciating their different techniques, styles and innovations. Particularly like you showing the latter - the expansion tracks, the building copper clad light circuits, quick release plug sockets for shop groups, the peoples pins (seen in Cyril Freezer ' s book) and the cameos plus abundance of cats. Great work Richard and thanks Charlie for showing it all off; more would be welcome. Stephen
The rural back scene was most facinating and realistic and just like what I could do with. The solid line of near trees hiding the distance ....brilliant. The Chadwick back scene is most agreeable also. I enjoyed the video.
I was in Panama recently. In the main shopping mall was an O guage railway that ran around the main concourse, however the clever part was that it was totally suspended from the 1st floor. Sitting in the restaurant area upstairs you could look down on it. I filmed it with a Canon camera but lost the footage, however this is a grat use of space..well done Charlie for something diiferent.
It's always good to see other people's layouts. It's a good way of picking up ideas (especially as model rail shows are still very few and far between). 👍
What a beautiful layout ! The detail is just stunning... strange comment but I love his ballast work. Colour is spot on. I think he needs a bigger space to expand. Thanks for the video Charlie.
That was fantastic Charlie There are lots of things on you tube etc for exhibition layouts, but very much less for home layouts. I really got a lot from that one. Thank you so much Doug
Very nice and very neat. Extremely well done backscenes and low relief buildings. The copper tape and resistor lighting was a great technique and top marks for a well modelled railway. As you say, detail matters and does make a significant difference. Thanks for sharing.
This is an excellent idea. It would be great if you are able to do more layouts like this. The use of the on train camera to get a driver's eye view of the layout was superb. An inspiration - keep up the good work!
What a wonderful layout built by Richard within his attic. Culverlands is beautifully detailed and is constructed with great skillful use of the space he had to play with. His modelling of scenic areas, buildings, track etc is exceptional and inspiring. I noticed a few nice ideas for myself, along with the parts of the layout features you pointed out too. A worthwhile watch to see other layouts that don't leave home, especially as we can't travel to see any exhibitions or other shows because of the current pandemic. You are onto a winner side project here by doing this with your local area modellers. It gives them and others a chance to show off their layouts and to see them in action. A great little film on Culverlands and I hope to see more of these on your channel Charlie.
Really enjoyed this visit, it was nice to see a DC layout for a change. While I do enjoy following your progress on your own fantastic layout it is nice to see one like my own that is still DC. As usual Charlie, the sympathetic way in which you show the layout and a glimpse into the amount of detail is inspiring. Thanks for taking the time to do this. Well done Richard it's a fantastic layout that I can see will give endless fun and enjoyment. Regards Eddy xx
Hi Charlie from down under in NZ, this was a change from your normal videos that teach us how you do things, this shows us what other people do on their layouts, we can all learn something from someone. Cheers Bill
Thanks Charlie, and Richard. Really enjoyed that, and the lighting system for buildings is exactly what I've been puzzling over for some time but never thought of the two pins into power and resistors system. That's an idea I'll borrow, albeit for a much smaller layout.
Hi Charlie, very nice video. This layout is an impressive piece of modelling. In future episodes, I would appreciate a « guided tour » mainline run, where the camera follows a train along with a voice over presenting the different towns and areas. I think that would give a good feel of the layout, I always have an hard time grasping track plans, but it’s really a suggestion! Take care!
This was more my cup of tea than a cup of tea! Very interesting and enjoyable. I would have liked a few shots of the overall layout t see how it was fitted into the room, the access, etc, but the detail shots were brilliant. More please!
It was an excellent video showing the lengths that other modellers have gone to which gives us other ideas to pursue. Would love to see more of these. Cheers.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video showing a different layout with a great idea for wiring the lighting for low relief buildings. I may get around to using that. Wonderful use of space too. Thanks for sharing this Charlie. Great start to the weekend. Roy.

Nice to see another layout for a change . A really nice one too running br blue ,. Never seen these expansion joint tracks on a layout before . Interesting
Good day Charlie, Normally I am not a Foaming Fan, however, the combination of your DoP & the two Railways you have chosen so far I do enjoy the "Neighbors of Chadwick". About Richard's scenics, I adore his level and subtility of weathering. It entrances me! The watercolour tones of the backscene to multicoloured stipleing of the building bricks. Quite a superior job. Many of his figures and details are remarkable. The way he molded so many of them. I truly enjoyed this Ops Session.
As someone who models british trains in the US, these types of videos are invaluable. It introduces products to me I was unaware of and gives me insight as well as ideas I might not otherwise have, especially living so far away.
Excellent, Charlie, what a lovely Railway and very well photographed, liked that Breather Switch, what a good Idea especially for an Attic Layout. In real modern CWR Breather Switches are used to protect Jointed Track and unstrengthened Switch and Crossings. Thank you.
Hi Charlie Great video. Richard has built a really nice railway in quite a tight space. It had some very nice features and has inspired me to try and get more done to my own layout. I think more great layouts would go amiss every now and again. Cheers Paul
Very nice. As an electronics engineer I was impressed by the use of copper foil for wiring the LEDs. It is reminiscent of printed circuit boards, and it made me wonder if any modellers are designing their own electronics and using custom PCBs in their models in clever ways?
I'm amazed what people can achieve and it's always interesting to view these other tracks from the comfort of your home.Looking forward to the continuation of Chadwick, great idea!!
Being that I live in Canada we don't often get to see British or European layout. Yours is the only non North American channel I support. This was wonderful. I do agree with another viewer that a voice over would have added to the video. Thanks Charlie.
Well done and very enjoyable! It is always good seeing other layouts and getting a taste of other's modeling skills and the various ways they approach the hobby. Thank you for an enjoyable visit to an impressive layout!
I definitely enjoyed this presentation...it's interesting to me how people use the space they have to create the layout that works best for their enjoyment of model railroads.
An interesting tour, Charlie. Richard has a great layout, as its a good mix of Railways and scenery. Lot's of excellent detail has been added to the layout and is a good source of ideas, thank you Richard. Your commentry is good, but I especially smiled when you said "playing in the 'Rec " , not heard that said for years : -) Joe
A very impressive, well put together layout! Excellent scenery and buildings, together with some great weathering. Those small details really add to the realism . . . I love the moggies! Thank you Charlie for the presentation, and to Richard for sharing. Cheers, Alan
Yes, a big thumbs up for seeing other layouts and it's amazing what can be achieved in a modest size area. The woodwork looked very substantial and the 2D and 3D works very well and as commented below, the telegraph poles work very well. The rail expansion contraption looks great and if it works in real life, one can see that it will work in an attack on hot days! The class 50 weathering looks really good too! cheers, I enjoyed that.
Great Idea Charlie Boy. Loved the Low relief Modular buildings and the Return Loop, also great use of space on this Layout. All in all a great idea from Conception to Production. Keepin it Fresh! Thanks for Sharing 🏆👍🏻
Very inspiring; a lot of stuff fitted into a "small" space. A few more wide shots showing more of the layout would give a better feel for where all the parts fit together. Showing the track plans was really good. Keep up the good work!
Hi Charlie great episode brill to see other people's work gives great food for thought, funny that fixing the figures to the platform is a method wargamers (me included) have been using for years its called drilling and pinning and never thought to use it there 😀 for the pins we usually use paperclips which are easy to snip to size citadel do a great hand drill but I carefully use my dremel. Regards David

What a heart warming comment James.

Take care!
Thanks Cedric, and you make a good point about a VoiceOver during the tour. Take care mate, regards Charlie

David
