- Experimenting in the bedroom with blending these amps ala Adam Jones.
All 3 amps are running at the same time but this time I've put the Marshall higher in the mix compared to my last video • Adam Jones TOOL Tones ...

Its exact tone. I was joking before really but wow you did a really good job.
Aenema sounds fantastic!!!
Gives me chills
You nailed it. Sounds great
Great job!
Killer tone 🔥🔥
Nailed the blend perfectly! What are using to record it, and what approx dB are you pumping out with all amps firing?
Just a Samsung Galaxy S10 phone! Haha. It was probably 100db+
:))) not really, when using all three it sounds like a lot of frequencies are conflicting, and the diezel barely stands out. Also, Adam uses two diezel heads each into a mesa boogie 4x12 with mesa v30s and his marshall into a marshall cab so yeah. But it's also a great thing he doesn't try to copy him perfectly and goes for an original tone. Thanks for the video
@@Cymanytb Recording 10kdays and Fear Inoc he used that Knuckle on alot of stuff.
@@Cymanytb stop being a jealous little bitch lol
Is the boss eq being used as a lead boost?
Yep just for additional 'cut through' on the higher frequencies when needed.
This is like bukkake to my ears
Best I’ve seen yet!!!
There's a UA-camr called. Opiateofthemasses. He is the one with an absolute perfect tone.
Which amps are running while you were playing stinkfist , jmp / diesel ?
All three heads
Hey I really struggle to understand how to run 3 amps at the same time. So do you run guitar > ABC pedal > 1st amp >> 2nd and third? Also would you mind recording a video explaining how to do it, Ive been researching but not much info. I found some splitter that you can run up to 4 amps, but one at a time. Another question is can you run 3 amps at the same time to a TwoNote Captor X device? Would be grateful sharing how to chain all 3 amps
Look at Radial Switchbone v2 ABC/Y pedal
Nice rig!
Are all 3 amps coming out of both speaker cabinets?? Or is the marshall and the Rivera coming out of the Rivera cab only?
Marshall is running through the Rivera 4x12 and the Diezel and Rivera are running through the Diezel 4x12 (2x12 each)
Nice rig.
hell yeah
What do you use to split your signal to the amps?
An ABC pedal
Now how do we recreate the tone without spending 4 milllion dollars lolol
#Nailed
What guitar are you using ?
80s Les Paul Custom Silverburst
What are you settings on your bf-2 for stinkfist?
Manual and Depth = Full
Rate = around 1030 to 12
Res = off
H B thank you! I had the res around 900 and rate at 12. Pretty sure that’s what Adam has his at.
@@ethanb2091 AJ usually has the res off from the photos I've seen of his board.
H B oh yeah. From the dunlop vid
Amps sounds cool, but you can't swing Lateralus!
Nice!!! Isn’t running two heads into one cab a bad idea? Even if it’s stereo?
No problem with running 2 heads into 1 cab provided it is stereo and you have the correct ohm rating. Some pairs of heads will have a degree of phasing issues
What year is the diezel?
2010 I believe. Why do you ask?
Wanted to know if it was pre or post 2007. Thats when they updated the circuit.
Bruh you ask this on like every VH4 video
Sounds like a Silverburst les Paul custom I got used to how mine sounds and can’t mistake it
how sick is it? I'm considering getting a 79-81, somewhere in there, or waiting for the adam jones signature to come out. what do you think?
btp1994 it’s definitely an amazing instrument if you can afford it. Mine is from 1980 and it looks almost pristine as there is no wear on it at all and most of the finish is still a silver color. It sounds thick and mysterious and it’s totally worth owning one. I’m also waiting for the Adam Jones signature to come out if it ever does I imagine it’s going to be expensive as well
JustTrynaNig thanks for the quick reply man! What advice would you have for getting a jones tone? Currently I have a katana which actually has really great distortion for my purposes (apartment). Would the next closest step be getting a Boss BF-2?
It sounds thick and mysterious. Dude that is the best way to describe it! Mysterious.
Do you prefer the silver finish or the green/ yellowing finish? Got any pics or clips on Instagram or anything?
@@TheSultan69 If you want to get the Jones Tonez i would first suggest you only use amp distortion, no pedals and most marshall lead or super bass amps can give you a good tone that resembles the early TOOL days. A flanger pedal is almost essential if you're trying to capture that Aenima sound but of course he uses a Diezel VH4 Blueface Amp head in that album and onward. Just takes a lot of experimenting with your guitar tone and volume knobs to dial in his tone but i have no doubt that most of his actual tone comes from his Les Paul Custom
JustTrynaNig got a 6505 20 watt head today. And a BF-2 Flanger. Dude the flanger is absolutely insane. One day I’ll get a silverburst custom. Have an epiphone with a guitar fetish bridge pickup. Idk what it is, but it sounds nice
Is the Super Bass modded to lead specs?
Yep

Your phrasing on the intro isn’t right. It’s more sing songy than the original I think the problem is in the “da-da/da-da” part. Your accenting tjr first note of each da-da and playing the second one a smidge ahead of the beat. In the original they are played with no accent and more strictly right on the beat.
And the attack has more “pick” sound in the original. This is a respectful critique, I admire the effort and I love tool. Nice work.
Thanks for the constructive feedback Richard. FYI I wasn't trying to recreate the album sound, that would require a completely clean tone and separately tracked guitar for the gain if you know how AJ runs his tone. As for the tempo yes I was playing faster than the original track...trying to capture this before the neighbours called the authorities!
