This was somewhat encouraging. You went through some where there was an effort to keep things nice. Some of the brownstones looked very good. Of course, there were other neighborhoods that were falling apart. The sad thing is that those were neigborhoods like the ones a lot of us grew up in the 50s and 60s...they have become total waste areas. This was a good, balanced video. Great job!
This is great stuff. I mean, all politics and patriotism aside, this is actually wonderful documentary film of a time and a place that's entirely fleeting. It's beautiful and sad. Look at the brick roads at 4:00. This isn't the suburbs. Thirty or fifty years from now all this is gone for good or worse. It's great that we can preserve the moment in this way.
I agree. A lot of charm in this community. Could only imagine back in the 1970s how this neighborhood looked. During the time of the Steel Mills, brick manufacturing and coal mining that created a middle class family. In those times, you could get one of those jobs straight out of high school and provide for your family.
I always enjoy these videos. Some areas look depressed, however some show revival and hope and actually look like a neighborhood! I've been poor, but I don't think I ever felt afraid for my life. Today, being poor is dangerous. Thanks for sharing this video.
It's crazy at one point in time the Midwest was THE PLACE to be for the American dream. Government and mega corporations took the working class spoon away and left these areas to rot.
Cleveland hoods be having me on my Ps & Qs I swear 😮💨😂. I done grew up in some of the worst hoods in DC and this place still have me on edge. I never get use to the hood.
You should see Columbus. Hilltop, bottoms, and north side are complete trash holes now. Multiple murders daily. It’s depressing to see my childhood go down the drain
I remember making a wrong turn and ending up in East Cleveland on a hot July night… let’s just say I made the mistake of stopping at a red light while white! About got car jacked with people on the hood of my car!

_"...Another day in a Rust Belt City..."_ - Unlike Cleveland and other cities, much of Detroit is at the "Next Level" of urban evolution - Namely, where the bare-boned natural substance that was there when the explorer Cadillac discovered the area some 450 years ago - is now taking much of it back!

Some of these old neighborhoods would look vastly improved if the roads, pot holes, curbs and sidewalks were redone. Bad roads, a typical midwest problem.
This is just west park to the shoreway. It’s dilapidated and lifeless but compared to anything outside east of downtown these places are not that dangerous.
Yeah but if they took some money and let people have it so they can fix up that property not for rental for people that just residents to want to live nice have some monies out there they can go get and buy materials show the receipt I bought material to bring my property up and then guess what the hood it disappear cuz they had no look I care about where I live

Unique architecture. Cleveland was booming in the 1950s and 1960s. All those empty plots, used to be houses there.
And large White families.
It was safe, high trust neighborhoods.
Just like Detroit.
It wasn't safe the cleveland mafia had cleveland on fire before blacks took over
Before WWII, it was competing with NYC for who could be a top American city.

Well that was completely depressing.
0:47 Love the design of that white house, the roads need work but the area looks decent enough.
It's one of those Victorian style houses, there are actually a lot in that fairfax and hough area.

Cleveland is so slept on. It's the nitty gritty! Everyone is so use to hearing about Chicago/LA/NY. But the Land is a scary place lol
Not as slept on as people traveling to Medellin Antioquia, Colombia 🇨🇴. That place is no joke too.
I seriously got to take a trip up to Cleveland some time. I'm really itching to. This looks like where my roots came from many years ago.

Is this a dangerous neighborhood? I can't tell. It looks sort of well kept. No burned out houses. But maybe...
The last half of the video wasn’t, he was a couple blocks off from the hood
Dangerous has no appearance you can be fooled by the nice houses just look nobody is out is a sign as well

This literary just looks like any town in upper Michigan lmao
Did you catch a car theft on camera?
Not too bad, but some early streets clearly going the way of old Detroit
Cleveland is the old detroit, the first motor city before detroit
I was there a couple days ago. Driving on i90
the dude pushing the Bentley in the beginning! 😂 hired a homeless foo to help em push it too!!!
That was a Maserati Quattroporte
@datboiwes333 I was thinking that! I just watched it quickly didn't rewind it to look but was like wait Maserati or Baby Bentley

This mostly Westside..it's hood but the Eastside and East Cleveland are the real ghettos.
Cleveland got a lots of potholes
lmao were they trying to roll start a maserati? Only in the hood

And as you can see is some of those pictures those people got Pride and where they live it just don't have the money to bring that property upright
It's been made clear now why the Indians DONOT want the name of the baseball team after them. Not with this city
The title could be most any east coast/ rust belt cities, they all look like this. Just happens to be Cleveland.
Now I see why everyone keeps saying Ohio.
"Down in Ohio!"
