There's a great whiskey store in N. England that gives people tastes of his wares. I don't live near his shop but I still buy online because he's also happy to send samples. People who make the extra effort will always get my custom.
Which whiskies, or other spirits, are commonly aged in used Rye barrels? I occasionally see a rye finished here and there, but I don’t know if I ever saw a malt or anything fully aged in rye barrels.
AFAIK, they're sourcing MGP new make and redistilling it. Not sure if there isn't stuff they do 100% themselves or not ... but they might be. Maybe that's just how they started? not 100% sure :P
@@nellietolb420 MGP is Midwest Grain Products (of Indiana). They are a giant distiller that sells spirits to start-up distilleries (and others) while their whiskies are aging. This is a complete oversimplification... Wiki has a good but incomplete page.
I second this as they told me they use mgp distillate, but age it in their own climate controlled barrel room. As for stuff that is 100% their own, their single malt is all theirs. Both are fantastic!
I noticed you both sniff the glass with your mouths closed I learned in a class that when you sniff you should have your mouth open so the notes hit the back of the pallet Let me know what you think if you ever try this
How did you both miss the Big Lebowski inference in the "ties the room together" comment?
Dude !
They got the reference.
I love your explanations. They are detailed, without being wanky! And yes, I'm British, in fact Scottish!
Thank you both for the video 🥃
Can we get a camera on the trash can? I think that's what this channel is missing.
Also, I'm going to Irene's store for the first time today!
All their whiskeys are very good. I went to the distillery for a tour and they make their whiskey. The owner worked for Sam Adams at one point.
Fellas, the rug comment was 100% a reference to the Dude.

What’s her store called? I’m in the area and trying to find it.
Rex is like a modern day Samson, he gains his strength and ULTIMATE MOOCHIENESS from his hair. The longer the hair the more moochy shenanigans ensue!
Have you tried the Putnam single malt? Just got my first bottle and it's a tasty pour.
It is called the Malliard reaction. It is the result of sugars and proteins interacting under heat it is responsible for browning.
Irene Tan, a true legend 🙌🔥
I'm very lucky to be about an hours drive from her store. In fact I was there for the grand opening when Daniel and Rex were visiting. 🖖😎🥃
@@KillCoMentalMusings where about is her store if you don't mind me asking? im in in Rhode Island and am always up for a weekend drive lol
@@Iswhatitis73 She is in Canterbury, CT (eastern edge of CT).
Here's a suggestion for a review, Myrká, an icelandic blended malt whisky, 12 years old. I'd really love to see you try that
We love Irene tan
The rug tying the room together is a quote from Big Lebowski. And Rex has hair similar to 'The Dude'
Not sure on this one, but I know Bardstown Origin Series Rye, which is all their own distillate, is also the "MGP" mashbill of 95/5.
I work at a store that offers tasting on our store picks, no matter the category helps in general sales
I love this Rye! Their stuff is really tasty. I prefer it to Pappy any day!
Happy Friday MB's :)
The Dude abides.

Is there a season for dumping barrels?
Was this the one that she picked that was tucked away in a high corner next to the boiler room or something? If so, ive sampled and its a goodun.

Don't be mean please . But what is mgp ?

GOOD MORNING YOU MB'S.... 🥃
TGIRWF...😂
T Shirts with "ingk" on them in honor of Daniels' Waco upbringing would be cool.
How did the Big Lebowski reference go over Rex's head?
Because I know you havnt... and should most definitely have a bottle. You need to review Loch Lomond 12.
Oh come on guys, The Big Lebowski reference was right there with the rug comment and you missed it! .......like Bunny's toe
Thought this was Dry Week?
Daniel totally missing the Big Lebowski reference.... Son, I am dissapoint.

The complete whiff on the Big Lebowski reference hurt a little.
Anyone else starting to hear the intro piano music in their sleep?
For the love of god, please get us a TrashCam again already
What about new episod Best whisky for the money?
Like Ralfy says "a minute in the glass for a year in the cask" this whiskey is what 3-5 yo? Your Two minute review didn't give it time to open up.
New game. Tag the time of the thumbnail 🤔
Can we have trash can cam?
you're a caramelized fruit skin
