Cheers,
I saw them at the May 27, 1969 show at the Boston Tea Party. It's capacity was 400 people. We sat on the floor hippie style about 30 ft. from the stage. Awesome show. They were hot and they knew it. They played the whole first album and one new song i didn't recognize. My friend had called me in the afternoon when he woke up to tell me Zep was playing and we had to go. We hitch-hiked to Boston from E. Providence, RI without even knowing where the Tea Party was. Fortunately some head in a Lincoln picked us up, got us totally stoned, and drove us near there and gave us directions. We got tickets at the door for about 5 bucks. We had to hitch-hike home after midnight on 95 but we were ecstatic, and amazed that the whole crazy adventure had worked out beautifully.
Lucky you.
Most Rock N Roll story ever!! PLAY LOUD
I just got back from seeing Becoming Led Zeppelin at a domed Omnimax theater. It was an incredible experience! Go see it on the biggest screen with the best sound system you can find.
I will for sure. They announced a late February screening date and the best, rumour has it, there are no Meat Loaf cameos on the film.
love the original music you are composing & playing ...
thank you ! 😊
I’m going to see the movie this afternoon, can’t wait!
I went Yesterday! So the Timing of this Episode is Perfect as I'm just coming down off a Zeppelin High!
I just saw it...the sound was so good!!!
The references JCM makes to other similar songs and grooves is priceless! Obviously a real student of recorded music. Just wow.
Music in my head, ideas on paper, documentaries to make! Thanks for watching! Stay tuned Episode 4 premieres tomorrow! ua-cam.com/video/p7NLVMBmuRg/v-deo.html
All my Zeppelin research for decades amounts to something, but you always come up with things in your videos that I never knew before. Bravo! Saludos!
The opening theme, Gerrard Street, (?) was stunning! Great recording, huge sound.
Thank you Larry! I aimed at the 1968 feel, what a band...what A BAND!!!
Jose, Becoming Zeppelin was awesome its made for us Die Hards... But a few new things great sound and new concert footage. All in All it lived up to the hype somewhat, but it ended in January of 70 we need more the most popular years of Zep. Wish you were given a couple of Million to make act 2 there has to be another one.
Your docs on Led Zeppelin imo qualify you for the job. Can't wait for this episode.... Rock on Jose✌🏼👏🏼🤘🏼
Yes I was thinking that all the way through it--Jose should have made this movie. It would be 40 hours long and that would be just fine with me
Just saw the official doc in an imax. This series includes a lot of info the documentary leaves out. Well done JCM!!
Love all the fresh news on the mighty LZ. Awesome new videos, photos and audio.
Thank you David! Stay tuned Episode 4 premieres tomorrow! ua-cam.com/video/p7NLVMBmuRg/v-deo.html
Episode four? Awesome, I have some viewing to do! Can’t wait!
Another amazing job with this documentary! I love the detail! I’m going to have to listen for that Flying V! That’s killer! That would have been great to see him record that song with that guitar!
I can’t get enough of this! It was Page’s playing that made me buy my first cheap Pawn Shop guitar at 16. I learned to play Zeppelin riffs before even learning the basics. 27 years later I still play those songs, and love these deep dives into the history of the band that made me a lifelong lover of the music that came before my time.
Home run of a video!
Great job again JCM!! This is why we are fans of the musicians called Led Zeppelin!
You're damn right, What a band!!! Stay tuned for Episode 4, save the link: ua-cam.com/video/p7NLVMBmuRg/v-deo.html
Brilliant research and presentation once again. Thank you. When I discovered the band and very quickly became a massive Zephead as a 14/15 year-old in the late 1970s, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You was one of the tracks that blew my mind. Still sounds incredible more than 55 years later.
Great analysis especially the Classical Gas to 24 or 6 to 4 connection.
My last trip to London I put Olympic and the Tower House on my route. One of my all time favorite runs.
So cool you went to these locations, vital in the Zepp journey! Glad you enjoyed the Mason Williams theory, i can't help to connect these pieces! Stay tuned Episode 4 premieres tomorrow! ua-cam.com/video/p7NLVMBmuRg/v-deo.html
Wow man, I had NO idea Page actually used a V! Cool!
Rudy Van Gelder! Absolutely the brilliant engineer for the finest jazz records ever made. Totally agree Page took inspiration for recording Led Zeppelin in the studio. Excellent review and always looking forward to the next one.
@ 18:39 Thank you for mentioning this. I've known about him using a Flying V on this track for a while, but I still hear people insisting that he only used the Dragon Tele on the first album - nope!
Stunning. Mesmerizing at every turn. 🙌
Finally...epic deep dive into one of rock's best album's of all time. The sound of the drums is a key differentiator.
Incredible journey through Led Zeppelin's early days! 🎸🔥
In college a couple years back I did a thesis on this specific era of Zeppelin and the making of LZ1 and more specifically Dazed and Confused. WHERE WAS THIS SERIES THEN???? So much fascinating information I somehow missed and a very well put together documentary!
PLANTS VOCALS ON THE OUTTAKES OF BABE IM GONNA LEAVE YOU ARE INCREDIBLE! SOUNDS LIKE A DOG IN HEAT!
Or a Hot Dog on heat? Hehe. Reference to their 1979 cut :) thanks for watching. Episode 4 comes out Tomorrow Feb 9th!
Beautiful! Can't wait for the next. Thank you!
My Uncle Smokey got me LZ1 for my 15th Birthday 2/69 and it just blew me away - He knew I loved Cream, Hendrix, Traffic, The Beatles, The Yardbirds but this had to be the LOUDEST record I ever heard! I couldn't get enough of Led Zeppelin and I'm still amazed at what they accomplished from 1969-1980 - Your analysis of the songs, the intricate details of the recording, your highlight on Olympic Studios and Glyn Johns just magnificent production and research - Bravo!🇬🇧🥁🎹🎤👍🎸🔥❤
JCM you are a oasis for Zep fans, this production Superb
Another great documentary Jose! Great analysis. Thank you very much, sir.
Very good episode. Looking forward to part 4. Have a good one!
Thank YOU Daniel! Stay tuned for Episode 4, save the link: ua-cam.com/video/p7NLVMBmuRg/v-deo.html
@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories you bet!
Super interesting. Wow that’s a trip that they started the album and ended the band essentially on the same date 12 years apart.
I had never heard about the Flying V before either. No way!
Just got home from watching Becoming LED Zeppelin at the old Montreal Forum IMAX theater with my son. Although most of the material footage (Scandinavian tour, Tous en Scène, Royal Albert Hall) is stuff that I was familiar with. It was the first time I saw some footage from San Francisco Fillmore. Also as most fan we have heard the story from Page's viewpoint, the anecdotes from the others were really interesting. It was also the first time I heard Bonham's take in his own words.
Hey Jose. I saw the film today, and I have to say I was 50/50 about it. It was good to hear Bonham’s interview snippets and the current day reactions of the guys to historic clips from 68/69, but I’d seen most of those from your productions and UA-cam. Sure, there was new video of concerts and they were of course able to play the entire tracks, but they also mixed video onto unrelated audio which was disappointing. Honestly, for a real fan, this JCM episode mentioned many items of interest they touched on in a way that makes more sense. Overall, I give it a lazy 7. They need to ask you for some tips.
EXCELLENT JOSE !
Btw "Becoming Led Zeppelin" are in selected theaters as of yesterday.I plan on seeing it next month on my birthday which is in a few weeks.
I'll definitely watch it in late February, they announced dates here for my undisclosed country :)
I'm @ the :45 mark and it's already fantastic! Great opening theme!
Incredible ❤.
Thanks so much Jose! Excellent video!
I’m glad you liked it Earl! Can't wait to share Episode 4! premieres tomorrow! ua-cam.com/video/p7NLVMBmuRg/v-deo.html
This was great. I also believe that Blind Faith also recorded at Olympic Studios. Led Zeppelin 1 is such a poweful album. What it has is incredible musicianship, and brilliant production. Jimmy Page's studio work as a session guitarist taught him well. Cheers! ✌️
You are 100% correct. Blind Faith recorded there February-June 1969. Jimmy Page the producer changed the game for everyone. He deserves the highest places of British music royalty.
Hi Jose, I went to the showing of "Becoming Led Zeppelin" with the wife last night. It's was a great experience. Loved it. Wish they would have extended it to cover their whole time together, but you can't have it all.
Hope your new year is treating you well. I've been working a lot and haven't had much time to visit your channel, but I will make some time soon. Take care.
I love the intro!
Reminds me of how I always improvised leads during gigs. Sometimes it would be problematic with Pink Floyd leads. You’d think I was burning the Holy Bible onstage.
Great job Jose. I watched this yesterday, but couldn't concentrate on the documentary. Watching again to, as well as today's episode.
I've not got to see Becoming Led Zeppelin yet. Hopefully it will be at our local theater next week, if not I might travel to Lexington Kentucky and try to see the movie. I might have to wait for the streaming service to see if.
Surprised how expensive the studio time was in 1968 considering the few days.
It's Always been good business for everyone but the musicians hehe.
Another masterpiece, how do you find the studio notes that show what tracks went where?
Amazing stuff, as usual!! You going to go track by track like this through the whole catalogue?
Ihope JCM was used in the movie Becoming LZ
He is The Man Outrageous
As usual a fantastic video by JCM. I just love all his stuff! The sound of his voice makes me think of all the copies of In Through The Out Door he has! 🤣
Pretty hot and rockin’ theme song too. Lots of Page and JPJ influence there.
Cheers 🍻my friend! Great job!
Haha, i have 64 copies as of today. Gotta love the album!
@ Actually, it’s my least favorite Zep album. I mean Hot Dog? wtf were they thinking? 🤣 Maybe it will grow on me, I’ll give it another complete spin today, in your honor.
Yr music's pretty good too..got an album to listen to?.
Jose - did you the movie yet? It’s awesome!
February 27 they say will be here in my undisclosed country :)
Jose, sorry you have to wait. I saw it last night and it was fantastic!! The IMAX format was amazing! I will definitely be seeing it again. Take care. ✌️
@@JCM-LedZeppelin-Storiesyes I saw it last night too, some great concert footage, & the GODS telling stories. The IMAX made it so much better, of course Plant had his humorous times. I know you’ll love it when you see it, & also thank you for all the work you do.
Great job JCM, complete information from that era of great music Legends , Led Zeppelin Genius of the music. Thank you.
Thanks for watching Nelly, this part of the story has been exciting to cover, Episode 4 is out now, hope you enjoy it! ua-cam.com/video/p7NLVMBmuRg/v-deo.htmlsi=yJDze0-vseJ_GeZN
🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
🤘Serdecznie dziękuję. 🤘
When Simon Napier Bell managed the Yardbirds, the group saw very little money from their touring. But, when Grant took control of managing the group, the members made money. (Before Grant became the manager, Bell suggested to him that he fire Jimmy Page for being a so-called trouble maker.)
Page is the Riffmeister. Everyone knows that. Those previous versions of "Babe..." were a joke compared to Jimmy's vision. George H. sux on guitar compared to JP and everyone else from that time frame. JPJ was the secret weapon.
Didn't know Jimmy paid for it.Smart.
"SHEBURGER SHEBURGER"🍔🍔😆.
Not sure what you mean but thanks for watching!
@JCM-LedZeppelin-Stories The Almighty "SHEBURGER"!! 🍔😆
Not sure what Jimmy is doing playing a pedal steel standing up, meaning he’s really only using it as a slide guitar, as there is no way he would be able to control the knee levers.
I doubt anything he ever played on one ever amounted to much, bit of a gimmick I reckon.
He probably would’ve been better off with a lap steel.
