It's a shock to the system once I had seen it. At first I didn't understand the narrative - I saw it in two halves. I felt as though I was holding my breath. I was numb and in awe by the end. I likened it to 2001. A Space Odyssey. It a journey into the inside of one's mind. Incredible film. Incredible.
Congratulations to the late Ms. Akerman! Jeanne Dielman has been labelled the greatest film of all time by more than 1,500 critics voting in the newest Sight & Sound poll.
@@Big_Dai 10 years after the fact of what? I strongly believe that this result would have occurred whether or not she had lived. Call it ‘woke’ if you want but unless you can point me to an individual case of someone that you believe voted for the film deceitfully in order to promote a particular agenda, I’m going to judge the process based on how it appears, and it appears to me to be organic and driven by the genuine love of the voters for this film.
@@MacIntoshMannI strongly doubt this is the best film ever. This film has been "brought back" because it supports the woke and feminist agenda. Besides that, I don't doubt it's a good film, but not the best whatsoever.
it's incridible how men make mansplanning even though the woman is the DIRECTOR of the film!!! Chantal Akerman was amazing, such an inspiration for all the filmmakers (mainly the women).
I finally took the courage to look up "what's mansplaining". I went "Ohhhhh...". Then "Sh*t... This must suck". Then "Sweet Lord Almighty Jesus, may I have never done this to any of my female friends, ever". But I can never be too sure. I'll keep both eyes open to prevent it anyway, that's what matters now.
Mansplaining is one of the dumbest things to ever give a title to, because it is sexist and demeaning. Besides all that, what does it have to do with the director of this fantastic movie being a woman?
I take Vinny's words for it. It is quite sad how your militancy blinds you and only feed exactly what you fight against. Avoid staining such an incredible movie and director with your personal insanity.
It figures that in this day and age, they would pick an obscure, pretentious movie from the 70s about a wh 00 re having sex and killing a man as the "greatest movie of all time". In any other "normal" time, people wouldn't even give this film a second thought, but because we now live in a world ruled by pretentiousness and feminism, people have to label garbage like this as "genius". Kill me now.
There's much more to the film, and so innovative that "it changed the language of Cinema". Sorry you don't get it. Maybe Iron Man 3 is more your speed.
@@georgemetesky5519 This might be the most pretentious comment I've ever seen. You proved my point beautifully. For the record, I hate superhero movies. My favorite movie is "The Station Agent", which was a beautiful and sensitive character drama without being pretentious or filthy.
Brilliant existential film. Painful, excrutiating, maddening. Godspeed, Ms Akerman. Thank you for your work.

They journeyed to the inside of SOMETHING on her, but it wasn't her mind...
You didn't understand the narrative? Its p simple shes poor and hates being alive
So let's show her peeling potatoes for two hours, lmaoooo. How "brilliant".@@2emo2function

Oh, shut up .. 10 years after the fact, including after being voted poorly. Now that she is dead and people went woke

incroyable, magnifique, merci chantal
Can you upload the whole panel discussion? It looks fascinating. It would be great to hear more from Delphine Seyrig also.
C'est très dommage de ne pas avoir tout cet interview!
This is a great movie you will always remember, although not for every one.
She's beautiful, Chantal.
The whole discussion is on the Criterion Collection Edition?
There’s over 6 minutes of this discussion on it (I think that’s the full discussion)
RIP
Where can I find the whole interview?

All these men go on demonstrating why films like Chantal's are important.
Damn, she was a fox back in the day!

What?! The only fox I see there is on the head of the old lady.
💚💚
The interviewer must be that ignorant?
How? He wasn’t criticizing the film, just giving her time to explain it
“A different kind of woman” lmao dude doesn’t get it
