You just saved me $200! My wife just got a brand new Imac M1 and she spilled apple cider on her keyboard. I watched this and removed the sticky keys and cleaned them with water and the switches with alcohol and FIXED! WOW this was a life saver! Great Job , Great Video THANK YOU !
it was like 6 months... that my Option button wasn't working, and finally, I decided to look on youtube how to fix it, before trying to do it myself and break something in the process. Suffice to say, with the help of your video, everything went smooth, and I got my Option key back. Thank you !
I don't know what to say but thank you from the bottom of my heart. I couldn't manage to put the space bar back properly. Every time I clipped it back on, it wouldn't bounce back. But I watched your tutorial and followed the exact order you showed. And now it bounces back again, I can press it. Thank you so much
Excellent video. Spilled my coffee all over my 10-key area and had to clean over 35 keys. Once I got the hang of it, it became much easier. Well done. Good camera shots helped a lot. THANK YOU!
Another video had me accidentally removing the keycap still attached to the switch. SMH. You helped me fix it. Thank you so much. I was ready to go out and by a new keyboard. TYSM.
Loved this video, even though I was unable to fix some keys (top row of letters), delete and space bar, I actually had fun learning about it all and the process.
Thank you so much! Three of my keys popped off because I put it in a tote bag and must have banged it around too hard. I was able to pop the esc, caps, and ctrl keys back on and they work! Learned my lesson too LOL
great video, helped me repair /clean my new magic keyboard i spilled coffee on, had to take out a couple scissor switches that were had coffee on them. was a bit scared to ruin the keyboard but it all worked out, thanks to great direction from this video
Thanks a lot for this video, was useful to clean up my stuck spacebar - first time doing this in 10+ years, and first time on an Apple keyboard. Just not sure - as the spacebar is unmarked, is it symmetrical? It seems so to my eye, but I'm not entirely sure.
Great video but concerned about removing the "caps lock". Since it has a light in it, Is it the same as the tab and shift keys on the left side of the keyboard?
Tried this on my own before watching the video... And did the F19 from the bottom first... Well that key is now garbage, because it won't bounce back up after I press it. Thankfully everything else still works and there is not that many uses for that key :D This video would have saved it. Angry up vote from me to this video.
Thank you for your videos. Can you please show us another thermal printer video and how to install on Chromebook, the one you showed before has sold out.
Thanks so much for the great video. It worked great for me except I've ruined 3 keys-my fault. I ruined the backspace which is now very flat and doesn't fit symmetrical. Do you know how to fix the problem?d
Cap is glued on and can be pried off without damage, but actual key, which includes the center circular touch sensor portion, doesn’t appear removable.
Eh i just bought a keyboard from someone and the letter q and a were inversed so I used you method to interchange them and it worked perfectly! Yeah! Thanks a millions for your tip! 👍🌸🌺🦋
Thanks for this. Apple only sells a black key option for the Magic Keyboards with numerical keypads. I'm seriously considering buying one and switching out the white keys on one that doesn't have the keypad. Some wouldn't be compatible, though. Bleh. It's the little things.
I have be the black Magic Keyboard with Touch ID MMMR3LL/A. After cleaning several keys all are good expect the return key. That one is now stuck down. Any help to troubleshoot/fix will be very much appreciated. Thanks.
Any chance you could shed some light on an issue I'm having with an A1843? The enter key on my num pad: I used your tutorial here to remove and replace the key, which was backwards from this particual keyboard's (the bar was on the right, not the left). The key had been sticking and took a lot of pressure at the top of the key for it to register the keypress. Now, the right (outside) portion of the key works pretty well and is elevated. The left (inside) portion of the key is sunken and pressing that side of the key does not register the keypress. Any ideas on how to make this key fully functional again?
look at all little knobs at the backside of the key. push them a little bit together and lock out for bended plastic. bend it a little bit back. hop this helps
One of my keys was stuck down and this literally saved my sanity, I had to removed all the bits and bend up the bottom cross bar but it fixed the key well enough
Hola, Eric! Miss your thrift and reselling videos, but always support your channel! Next time that you come to the Sacramento area as a Contractor (If ever again! 😞Was supposed to hang out with you guys, but got the flu), let me know! Will take you and your wife thrifting and get good grub!
The letter A on my keyboard was not rising and falling evenly. Its right side wasn't working very well, it was going up and down on the left side. Thanks to you, I removed it successfully, but there was no visible problem. I didn't know what to do. I replaced it with another key's butterfly. A started the work properly but the key I changed into the butterfly of the letter A, it gets stuck. Like I said, nothing in sight. How can I solve it without purchasing spare parts?
What would cause the arrow keys to be misaligned? I had one stuck, so I took it off and put it back on, forever dooming me to have the arrow keys work but be misaligned.
Hi, Eric! Great tutorial. This might be a question for you...are the keys on the Apple Magic Keyboard interchangeable with those on the Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID? Not including the new/Touch ID of course. But could you, say, swap an M with an M, or the Shift keys? Cheers!
@@shelaghcorbett2387 Well shoot. Thanks for getting back to me. I found a teardown of the new Magic Keyboard with Touch ID. The Spacebar looks a bit different. I may swing into my local Apple store and see if they sell replacement keycaps for my space gray keyboard.
I believe the wired model has a different key design. I have a lot of other model tutorials on my channel, I think magic keyboard 1 will be the same key design. That video will help.
apple store employee- No keys can’t be replaced sir ! There’s all water inside it and now you need to pay 1999$ for repair or buy a new one ! Eric - hold my beer *makes a tutorial* Apple employee - _cries in dead commisions_
I followed the steps for my caps lock key, and for some reason now it goes back on completely flat. It doesn't pop anymore. It's just down all the way. What the heck is going wrong?! :( Help!
just bought a keyboard from ebay, the seller said is fully functional, turns down the i key does not work, I disassemble it just fine, it didnt show signs of liquid had been spilled, the little silicone cirle that I asume is the mechanism that trigers the logical press, is not working when pressed, tried doing the same on other keys and they do trigger the letter when pressing that little circle, and as I was writing this comment I realized that it is like that i key is stucked on pressed, some times the i appears out of nowhere without being pressed at that moment.
I just clean my keyboard and now that I put it on, my keyboard is all on capital letter even though the shift lock it’s off ! What happened, do you have any idea ? What can I do ? I can’t unlock my iMac because of the password 😱😱
It sounds and looks easy. However, to insert the two little bottom knobs underneath the aluminum hooks is a struggle. I tried and tried but never went in. I am planning to take it to a professional to do it for me. I think at my 70 years old age my eyes could not help me see what I am doing. It is a great video though.

Thanks, I had a bunch of sticky keys on the left side from a beer mishap, got it apart cleaned and reassembled. Great Tutorial.
yep, same issue over here! Got messed up the shift key like that. Beer is the worst thing to have spilled over the keyboard..
You have a cleaning video for the iPad magic keyboard or a model that's similar?
Props, friend. I didn't know about those support bars and had to clean a sticky Shift key. I probably could not have done it so well without you.
hi there. Thanks for the great tutorial, but i have an issue when reinstalling the spacebar( may i ask for your opinion what could be wrong???

can you also share how carrie arrived at a purple base for this specific keyboard? its SO GOOD.
