The INSANE Prime of Chipper Jones

  • Chipper Jones is one of the best switch hitters in baseball history. Only Mickey Mantle and Eddie Murray have more career home runs! Chipper was a hitting machine from both sides of the plate, and was a major part of the Atlanta Braves dynasty in the 1990s. His ability to come up big in clutch moments was present from Opening Day into the postseason. Chipper had well documented success against Randy Johnson, arguably the greatest pitcher of his generation. From a small town kid to one of baseball’s all time greats, Chipper Jones’ legacy transcends the era he played in.

My favorite baseball player of all time, my entire life I can remember watching him on TBS 4-5 days a week. He was the reason I wore my socks high when I played baseball...He was always just so consistent and clutch. Rafael Furcal, Marcus Giles, Chipper Jones, Gary Sheffield, Andruw Jones, Julio Franco, Javy Lopez, Vinny Castilla and then the pitcher, that was my favorite lineup in the history of sports...like 2002, 2003 seasons.....Every game was just a treat to watch and I will always remember with fond memories.

I feel like a lot of fans sleep on Chipper Jones' greatness. I got to meet him at a luncheon for the Greg Maddux Night @ Turner Field. He was super cool to everyone that wanted to take a picture with him. I was also at his last game, the infamous "Infield Fly Rule" game in the postseason against the Cards. I wasn't a part of throwing garbage on the field, which was SURREAL. But in his last ever AB.. he recorded an infield single, in the same way he scored his first hit in 1993. Thanks for the video!!!

Excellent video my friend !!! I grew up in Orlando florida in the 1970 so the closest MLB baseball team to me was the Atlanta Braves and watched Hank Aaron hit his breaking of Babe Ruths Home Run Record as a young kid which led me to start playing baseball for just over 10 straight years from T-ball through HS .was a huge Braves fan all through the 90s going to ball games at both Fulton County Stadium and Turner Field. never missed a daily televised TBS game if all possible .the Jones boys duo of Chipper and Andrew were my favorite players in the late 90s and Early 2000s .outside of the New York Yankees .the 1990s MLB Braves dynasty was a once in a life time thing and hasn't been matched ever since .not even close And in my Opinion had the Best Pitching Staff and Rotation of all time with Avery .Smoltz .Glavine and Maddox .

Chipper is my favorite player of all time, I'm a grown man and still have a Chipper Jones plaque on my wall that I've had since I was a little kid. So I mean no insult when I say that "as an 8th grader he was good enough to play on the varsity at Taylor HS" probably doesn't mean as much as you think. Pierson Taylor HS is a tiny little school in the boondocks. I would know, I live right down the street, my girlfriend went there and I went to a nearby school that played against them.

I didn’t know 1995 was chipper Jones first year or I forgot for some reason I thought he was on the Braves teams in the early 90s but those early 90s to mid 90s Atlanta Braves teams were amazing and should’ve won more than one World Series I used to follow the Braves as a kid in New England because they would be on TBS so I would watch the Red Sox games and if the Red Sox weren’t on I would watch the Braves or if the Braves were on after the Red Sox or before the Red Sox I would watch them and those early 90s Braves teams were amazing with Tommy Glavine and John Smoltz

I feel like players today have lost the purpose of the walk up song. It's not about having whatever is popular at the moment, it's not about making some sort of statement. It's about making your opponent and their fans shake in fear knowing you're coming up. Chipper got that and every time you heard that intro you knew!
