You might want to include the Noctua NF-A4X10FLX premium quiet cooling fan as part of the upgrade, unless of course you want to fry eggs on top of your NVR.
I have an esata port on the back of my RLK-812B4-A with 8 channels. Can I connect an additional hdd to that esata port? It says it supports two hdds but only has one spot available within the chassis. 2×6tb. It's a reolink
The hard drive that came in the nvr I have won't reformat. I had the device for a few months then once the hard drive hit capacity it refused to format.. What should I do?
My nvr just randomly stops recording. Do you think swapping out the hard drive will cure this? I have tried reformatting the original hard drive but it still stops recording. Sometimes it only lasts a couple of hours, sometimes for a couple days.
Excelente trabajo amigo. De verdad. Por favor, ¿podrías averiguar conectar el Reolink a Google Drive usando una opción de FTP como backup de la información? Estoy a punto de comprarme este mismo equipo pero necesito conectarlo a Google Drive para tener un backup de los datos. Espero puedas ayudarme.
Great video! I am planning to update my NVR. Your video was exactly what I needed to see and learn from. Q: When I am purchasing the hard drive, do I have to look for or ask "Hard Drive for NVR'". Please advise. I am looking forward to your answer.
Hi all, during my installation work of the NVR RLN-16-410 and two types of surveillance cameras, RLC-811 and RLC-820A, I designed and produced two types of conjunction boxes. I'm more than happy to share it with you. Please let me know if you are interested.
The Reolink hard drive compatibility page gives 2 options for 6tb hard drives. One seems to be more economical on power (using half than the other) with a slightly less data throughput from 195 to 180gb. Did you go for the speed or economy? Interested as I’m wanting to do the same. It’s good that they are quieter.
No problem at all or any special tricks. I followed the steps exactly as in the video. I installed the latest NVR firmware right after I bought the recorder. I’m not sure if new firmware is the key, but it may worth to try.
I'm going to be using REOLINK 36 Channel I'd like to know if I can put a much larger hard drive is there any limitations to the size of the drive? My attempt is to put 3 12 TB hard drive purple edition, western digital. Is there a firmware cap on how big the drive convey.
I added another 6 TB Seagate surveillance drive to my RLN-16-410 NVR just now. Your video was very handy! Thanks for posting, Aleksander.
Was it easy? Could someone do it who has never worked on computers?
I am planning on adding a pair of 6TB drives next week. Thank you for sharing your video with us.
Awesome video, really helped me upgrade. Keep up the great content. Peace and love from 🇬🇧
When setting up make sure you change all cameras to record on the h.265 format. The h.264 format is selected by default.

Is this for an addition or replacement?
So when one drive 1 fills it will continue recording on drive 2? And when drive 2 fills it will over write drive 1?

Do you have an affiliate link to those hard drives that you used?

Your NVR manufacturer website should suggest the brand/specific model HDD to use.
Reolink does.

For me, the disk capacity was the prime factor. 2 x 16GB hard drives give me ~ 18 days of the recorded video.
@scottluther2091 im sure if you worked it out others can too. doesn't cost anything to be nice
Thanks for posting this. Just curious, the Reolink specs say that 4tb is the max size.... you have had no problems with (2) 6tb?

I got the 4tb version - RLN16-410-4TB and I installed a Western Digital 10TB WD Purple Pro. Formatted right away and recognized the full capacity.
Good video. Did you have to resetup all of your NVR and camera settings after you replaced the drives?
Actually not. All settings remained the same.

I can't find any related information on Reolink website. You may want to contact Reolink support.
