How to change or replace a Serpentine belt for Toyota Rav4 Serpentine belt tensioner Tool and Serpentine belt diagram
Stories,
This job should be done in 10 minutes with the right and correct tools but my Tool did work on this "2005 Toyota Rav4" so I had to go Tool shopping so 4 hrs later got the job done lol
Its very important to us the right tool to get it done Right it can be done by using other tools
But (I don't Recommend )
Love,
Ok thank you, thank you, Thank you for you for being patient and for watching this video also for your Likes so if this video helps you out Please don't forget to Like 😍 Share and Subscribe!
Until next video bye for now
you are only one tells the truth, all other rav 4 Serpentine belt or alternator replacement videos are fake! none of them mention the 2717 socket...You are the man!
Lol thanks for positive comment God bless
I cannot believe there are some thumb down on you! Some people hates you to tell the truth. God bless!
This was much better than the " PROFESSIONAL " videos I watched trying to "ACTUALLY SEE" the pulleys & Also, they didn't show the belt diagram like you did. THANK_YOU SIR !!! Great Video !!!!!!!
You are welcome Sir, thank you for watching and visiting Ish MOTORPARTS
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!
I was beginning to think I was losing my mind. I knew I was in the right spot, but nothing was fitting. Then I saw your video. Thank you a million times🎉🎉🎉❤
Gracias Hermano. This was very accurate for a 2007 Toyota RAV4. Too many other videos said to use a #14 socket wrench for the pulley tensioner. Yours is the most accurate and very helpful. Thanks again!
I appreciate your positive comments, and thanks for watching
Not sure what year this works on, but did not work on my 2008 Rav4 as the pulley did not have that type of bolt. I viewed every Utube video and none of them worked, however each one gave me a little bit to work with. Here is how I did it. To start I cut the old belt off so I could see the area better.
1. Took the new belt and used heat gun to even out the folds. Also hung it up with a heavy steel block to weight it down. That way you are working with a belt ready to go on.
2. I jacked up the engine with a small hydraulic jack with block on wood on top. Pulled the passenger tire and access panel. Removed the front motor mount. Not difficult except there is a hidden nut on the bottom side of the mount that mounts on the engine.
3. Routed the belt so that the slack was on the tensioner pulley.
4. I was able to move the tensioner with a short 19mm socket with a long handle 3/8 drive ratchet and jammed the handle against the cylinder head so it stayed without anyone holding it.
5. Laying on the ground I used a 14mm socket on the crankshaft to move the engine. I watched the direct of movement of the belt. Using that movement I pushed on the belt in such a way that the movement of the pulley helped to bring the belt onto the pulley.
Not easy, what was Toyota thinking!!!!
Sorry, but yes this job was done on a 05 rav4 automatic transmission All wheel drive, 4 cylinder
Got stuck myself in this area lately on a RAV4 2005 (4 cyl sec. generation) when trying not only to change the water pump but also the serpentine belt tensioner assembly ( will refer to it as SBTA from now on).
For removal and installation of the serpentine belt only: A 19mm standard socket on a breaker bar stuck on the top front nut ( looks like a 19mm nut but is casted part of the whole of the SBTA) works just fine. This allows moving the whole SBTA clock or anti-clockwise effortlessly with one hand. The other hand can then slip off and on the serpentine belt from the alternator, I found this is the area which seems to work best for both , removal and installation of the >>last bit
God bless you man this help so much i have been struggling looking for these tools forever no body know even Autozone.
Nice job brother, not easy to film it and explain this job....thanks
pinchi video editing esta chingon compa
Jajaja, gracias
Great information. Very detailed and helpful. Glad I watched before attempting to remove the belt. Thanks, really appreciate your help.
Best explanation video out there. Soo much better than Da Pro videos.
Do you need the Toyota adapter socket for the tensioner for a 2018 Rav4? I thought it was 12mm or 14mm socket. That adapter you used with your wrench maybe needed for older models.
Good job sir, thank you for the video.
Good Information video. It's almost January 2023 Happy New Year
I just used a 19mm offset wrench and a length of pipe and this works just fine.
this is the tool I need, thanks for sharing.
You're welcome and thanks for watching
wow man you saved my day..keep up the great work.
I'll do my best! Lol
Thank you. I thought I was just dumb and someone stripped the nut. Nope, it looks like that tool.
Very good job 👍👍👍👍
Thank you very much brother
Thanks! That was quite helpful.
Hi Ish, thank you for your useful video. I have RAV4 '02. The engine has a whining noise now, the more I accelerate, the more the noise is. With belt, the engine is shaking. When I removed to belt and run the engine 30 seconds, the engine stops shaking. I saw the belt is good, all pulleys are good. Except, I saw that the tensioner was lagged (2 bolts are solid, not loosen, but the tensioner is waggle, the tensioner's pulley is okay, not waggled). The tensioner is waggled when I tried to move it in and out. The belt is good too. What is your advice?
Sounds like your Tensioner has loos pressure or the Bolt its worn-out. Try to spinning all the pully around or whatever is. Hope that helps, and thank you for watching the video
Nice video I liked it . Lots of information. Thankyou
I'm glad it's helping, and thanks for the Positive comments
You are the first t show the tool / socket need.
Wow I'm happy that I filmed this video, thanks for watching and visiting ish MOTORPARTS
Is that an older Craftsman wrench? I only see craftsman or great neck on Amazon
I believe it is old. Its about 20 years old or so
did you have to lift this car at all?? or could I do this laying on the ground with the car on the ground ???
No I didn't lift it at all it was lots of space if you lay on the ground
Hi , is there a shorter alternative belt for this 2azfe engine , like my ac compressor not working , can I place a shorter drive belt to drive the car without ac
honestly brother I don't know, its a very good question i never thought about it that way
but I believe if you do that it'll have issues with the Timing RPM
@@IshMotorparts yeah , whenever there's problem like disturbing sound in ac compressor , we can place a shorter belt and drive the car and no need to stall the car , incase ac compressor problems
@@farmshowroom7831 yes noises are very disturbing, I recently had a AC Compressor noise on my 4Runner but good thing it has separate Belt
Great video 👍 👌
The one I worked on, 2007 model 2.4 engine, does not require this tool. Only a 19mm on the tensioner body.
You right 19 mm socket,,,he's using the pulley bolt that's very wrong
Is the drive belt diagram the same for a 2006 Toyota Rav4 3.5L V6?
I'm afraid not if its v6 it may have another camshaft, but don't take my word because I don't know for sure
What socket/tool do you use???
He showed near the start of video
What is the name of that “you must have this one” tool? What size?
The tool Called Tensioner Socket, its special made for Toyota and possibility for BMW, the size I don't remember seen the size but I'll look at it when I get home tomorrow
Is 7pk 1905 belt is fit for Toyota RAV4 2006?
I'm really sorry i forgot the Belt number and I don't know what is the) 7pk 1905 belt is) but thanks for your comment, if I find that part # later I'll let you know
Hey guys I just did this job and let me tell you that its IMPOSSIBLE to put the serpentine belt back on from the top. You have to go from underneath the vehicle to do this inorder to finish replacing the alternator or serpentine belt. ALL YOU NEED IS A 14MM COMBONATION WRENCH THAT RATCHETS!! PLACE THE WRENCH ON THE TENSIONER PULLEY'S CENTER BOLT FROM THE BOTTOM, KEEP TURNING THE TENSIONER PULLY UNTIL YOU CAN PLACE THE WRENCH ON TOP OF THE BOTTOM LEFT WHEEL.
Step 1: Reinstall new alternator
Step 2: Using a 14mm combination wrench (with ratcheting function), put closed end of wrench on the center bolt of tensioner pully (not the top one closest to coolant reservoir)
Step 3: Going in a clockwise direction, turn tensioner pully to give you slack all the way. keep going until your behind the bottom left wheel and place the wrench on top of the wheel so you no longer have to hold it. (Trust me you will see what im talking about)
Step 4: Fit the serpentine belt around all wheels except the bottom right wheel.
Step 5: Put a socket wrench on the BOTTOM LEFT WHEEL NUT
Step 6: Turn bottom left wheel and feed the belt onto the bottom right wheel until it snaps itself on. (like putting on a bike chain) THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART!
Here's a video with a picture of a diagram displaying the proper alignment for the belt. He also states putting the belt back on by turning the wheels. ua-cam.com/video/1AakUBbs2uY/v-deo.html
Great job.
Ish will this work for 2004 toyrav4?
Hi Racer X, yes it should be the same process but if you asking about the little Tool I'm not sure because sometimes they put different bolt on there.
Thanks for watching
Does this apply to gen5 2019+ thanks
Hi Charles, thank you for watching this Video, but I don't know if this applies on Gen5 2019+ I wish I know, sorry
Very helpful thank you!
You're welcome Bro
Great job
What's the size of the belt?
5:19 all i wanted was to see HOW the tensioner works, stays, pulls, retreats. I wish you had a cameraman! ....
I'm sorry
it's just spring loaded
Thanks bro
My tensioner pulley doesn't have that funny looking bolt. It is smooth with a star in the middle.
Wow yours sounds so different,
Thanks for visiting my channel
saludos cual es el numero de herramienta que se uso para mover el tensor
thanks
Amazing
My tensioner broke. Had it replaced along with the belt. Feels like I’m driving a new car.
lol that's great to have those feelings,
thanks for watching this video
What engine in this?
I'm at work now, I forgot I have look it up again and tell you, Sorry
Alright I'm back,
I hope this is what you are asking for this is what's on the Block 2AZ 5106505,
And it is a 2.4 Liter Engine
@@IshMotorparts ok thanks
I tried this and stripped the tensioner bolt 😡what now?
OMG, now try to use a smaller size socket if not change that bolt out or change the entire Tensioner which ever easier for you, sorry Bro, poop happens
Go and buy yourself a nut cracker socket from repo kit it grabs the bolt thou you cannot use the same bolt once its off works perfectly
thank you for sharing
I'm glad it helps
You really don't need that tool because there's a 19 mm bolt on the upper side of of the tensioner never use the pulley bolt what if you break it
STOP BEFORE YOU BUY THIS SOCKET (2717) FOR A TOYOTA RAV4!!! It is NOT NEEDED for tensioning the belt! You need a standard 19mm socket and use the bolt that is next to the tension wheel. As a side note, there is NOT ENOUGH CLEARANCE to use the 2717 socket without removing the whole tensioning apparatus. THE ONLY REASON YOU NEED SOCKET 2717 IS TO REMOVE THE TENSION WHEEL FROM THE TENSIONING APPARATUS. WATCH SOME VIDEOS FROM QUALIFIED MECHANICS BEFORE YOU CHANGE YOUR BELT. THIS PART IS NOT NEEDED TO CHANGE YOUR BELT!!!! edited... its a 19mm socket
Stop before this Comment confuses the crap out of you,
The purpose of this video is (how to change Serpentine belt) not to change/ replace Belt Tensioner,
The purpose of the Socket is to turn tensioning pulley to the Right to replace the Belt, the only reason to use a 14mm socket is if you replacing the Tensioner in this case you don't need the 2717 socket unless you need to reuse the old tensioning wheel,
You have to understand that Professional Mechanics gets Jealous for good Video, like mine videos LOL
@@IshMotorparts You don't need this tool to loosen the belt!!! Watch the links I'm posting, don't just delete it because you can't handle being wrong...
ua-cam.com/video/CkKR0vVWLck/v-deo.html
@@IshMotorparts ua-cam.com/video/HPJ0HF7VjQc/v-deo.html See you don't need this tool, the 2717, to loosen the belt!
LoL, Some people's kids, God bless you Bro or Sis, I didn't know LOL
What yr.
This is actually a 2005
