- The definition of keeping your composure under pressure 👀|
Bobbing is when Marines take a large breath at the surface of the water. They then exhale immediately, causing them to sink to the bottom of the 12-foot pool.
From there, they push forward in an upward direction toward the surface. This is completed with hands and feet bound by rope.
During the screening, the bobbing was executed for five minutes.
“The bobbing exercise is designed to have the Marines practice controlling their breathing,”
If you can’t conquer your fear in a controlled environment, then how can you be expected to conquered your fear when it REALLY matters ?
Are you about that life?
Share with someone who you think could do this-
The pool is a great equaliser, no matter how beefed or skinny you may be.
THIS! 100% 🔥
every marine has to do this?
@@mealyys nah this is brc(basic recon course) it's to become a recon marine
@@samuellaurent807 appreciate the reply, have a nice night bro.
@Drake Butler If we're talking like that there definitely are people who took pre training for recon and people who have been swimming / surfing before joining...
As a marine who was with a recon unit, I can tell you these men are a different breed. I was just a radio tech for them, but I saw enough of them to learn a lot of respect for the shit they go through. This is probably one of the easiest things that recon training requires. Just being a Marine is hard enough, these guys take it to a whole new level.
Its seal training
@@matthewcherrington2634 dudes are wearing marine scivvy shorts and the video LITERALLY says MARINE RECON training bro.
I was A 53E crewcheif, watch these guys jump out of my hyelicopter many times, my youngest son just finished one of the recon training phases, He was explaining these "bobs". Bob were not part of my water survival training in Pensacola back in the day. I had to swim a mile in a flight suit, helo dunker, parachute drag, heicopter water rescue, HEEDS bottle traing, lots of stuff that made me feel like a badass in the water until I looked into the stuff he's doing...
@@matthewcherrington2634 LMAO It's Marine Basic Recon school dude. You're going to seriously correct a Marine who was attached to a Recon Battalion... SMH BTW, SEAL training, if you didn't know was originally blue-printed off of Force Recon training. That's the shit they keep hush hush.
Amazing. Thank you for sharing
I'm gasping for air just watching this. Gheesh!
Respect.

Man mee too respect all of this guys 🎉

@@waterbottlecrinkle6973 we grew up in a low income community. Urban environment. We had a community pool but it was hood af and crowded, so no “real” swimming could be had.
We had the beach like 45+min away but like most folks, we just kept it waist deep in water.
So most never really got too familiar or comfortable with swimming.
When I got to Marine bootcamp, reality set in when I saw us black and brown folk sinking like rocks and stressing all night if we were gonna pass swim qual.
When I got to the Marine corps fleet, one of my boys taught me how to swim in one of the pools on base, on the weekends as part of our post lift cardio
No one else was there, just me and my two boys, and they guided me how to properly tread water, how get comfortable with the water and not panic, and how to use proper technique.
Legit knowing and not knowing.
The hardest part of this is the mental aspect. If you look, they're not exerting too much energy.
Like most things in the water, don't panic, don't thrash, work with the water not against it.
This is literally how I was drowning in a pool when I was a kid. Didn’t know I was training to be a marine. Lmfao
😂😂😂😂 glad you made it
Yo same 💯💯💯
How did you survive that?
@@TribeofSoul I don’t know about him but I just kept jumping off the bottom with my feet then when I would get to air I would scream help and take as a big of a breath as I could before sinking back down again, and that whole cycle went on for about 5 minutes until a life guard came and saved me, my dad was too busy playing with his new gf to even notice.
I was probably 5 or younger because by the time I was 6 I was a good swimmer
realizing their hands aren’t tied brought my anxiety down
They’re tied. Just not tight. The goal of this portion of training is to not panic and not break that knot. You can separate that knot if you want to but it does not look good and will give you extra punishment.
It is well some got loose

Yes i know in future these men will use the same training in Japan to kill it's citizens who wanted freedom.
No way, they're beyond stupid, going to give their lives for gay rights in Ukraine lmao
I don’t
It's actually super calming to do this. I do this in the river a lot. Of course not on very deep spots and obviously not tied. The most relaxing moment is when you can rest on the bottom for a few seconds completely motionless no contractions and just feel the current and weight around you before pushing yourself up for air again.
you say that untill your tied up and out of breath
So, when you come up you take in air and when you go down you release it slowly?
@@jogmas12 exhale fast at First so your boyancy goes down and U keep the downward momentum from the "Rebound" when you Dip in from the Surface again.
After 1 or 2seconds U can exhale more slowly or hold your breath (when U feel Like you keep sinking fast enough)
Mf you just described a scene from the movie Extraction. Stop playin with me.
@@thepatriot7639 is it a good movie?
God, it is so hard to breathe just watching this. Incredible endurance. These are truly sent from above ❤
Just wanna make a more recent note that their hands aren't tied they're just holding a rope so that's perseverance... Respect
They forgot to tie the hands to the feet behind the back.
If their hands rent tied then I don’t understand the point or what’s happening to complete the mission/training? They are just bouncing in the pool. Some drop their ropes and get masks some don’t? I have mad respect for them not down playing just trying to understand
@@GalaxyFluke The rope is simply there to force them not to use their hands but in the case of they have to use their hands where they Slip in the water and can't correct themselves et cetera .. But what I collect is that it's really just about perseverance it's having the wheel power not to let go of the rope and keep on jumping up-and-down in the water keeping yourself upright and straight Ideally this exercise both works out your legs and helps swift mobility And balance I recommend trying it
@@onedirtrider thanks! My brain was trying to find a specific tasks but understand the work out and teachings of mind/body control. I’m personally a fish in the water and have been since a baby. I do deep underwater weighted aerobics diving to retrieve weights and such and push off so this would be day at the park for me even with holding the ropes. However, If my hands were actually tied and I had escape them being tied is another story 😂
@@onedirtrider I’ll add I literally grew up at a private pool playing gator with the boys and we had extra X rule to normal game of gator and you could swim out of the rope in deep end (couldn’t take breathe over there just swim underwater) and if someone tagged you, you could wrestle them and if you pushed their head up on the other side of the rope but your face doesn’t come up and you make it to the other side then your good. So many run on sentences but just remembered fun memory thought I’d share. Fun days growing up in small town riding bike to the pool.
Definition of "ima need you to get real comfortable with getting uncomfortable"
this is why you need to be serious in life. Reality doesn't appreciate only joy & fun. That's why whoever reaches & train to the top will be seen as successful & cheered because it takes a lot to be disciplined. The marines are truly magnificent people. Cheers boys.
I'd be absolutely terrified. I honestly don't think I could do it without some serious practice first. This is just another fine example of why our troops are the absolute best in the world!❤🎉

Its a helluva lot of fun though lol. Me and a few jarhead buddies used to practice like that in the deep end of a pool.
Feet together and hands behind our backs, take a deep breath and slowly blow it out as you sink to the bottom. Push off from the bottom of the pool and once your head clears the water, grap a quick gulp of air and do it again. We'd see who could go for the longest before having to use our hands and feet 😂😂😂
That's actually how I became comfortable swimming in deeper water where I couldn't touch bottom.

@@TSYONTZ I'll be honest with you, if i knew, i was guaranteed the opp to try out, i would put in the work.
How on Earth do I practice this? I can’t fuck up the first time otherwise il drown. There’s so many to watch over how is everyone gonna be safe? It is a matter of believing in yourself and just knowing you got that small moment to breathe. I think navy’s train their lungs too so they can hold their breath for longer.
I practice freediving and underwater breath holds for relaxation in the pool. I can hold my breath under water for bout 2 mins with no warmup, and swim 25 meters with breath to spare. This looks fun!

Nothing will separate me to follow in my fathers footsteps. Absolutely
I loved those pool days. To me, it was stressful free, relaxing, easy, calming, and in no way difficult. If you just relaxed and took your time, that pool stuff was a time to allow your sore muscles to recover and heal.
There were a few times I nearly fell asleep, it was just so relaxing to me.
This is psychologically disturbing. I feel like passing out just watching it!
Kudos to those who attempt, even if they tap out!❤
I used to do this as a kid when swimming in a pool or lake. It's really not hard at all. It's just about being comfortable in the water.
They're just bouncing up and down, sometimes having to reorient themselves to their feet. I could easily hold my breath for 30 seconds in these conditions, and with that much time (or more), you're not at risk between breaths in this situation.
Definitely. I swim well and can hold my breath out of water around 3-4 mins and in water 2-3 mins. Love swimming underwater at longer distance. Would be a fun challenge.
with all those bare feet around me… probably couldn’t concentrate.
Yes , I have done it for 12 years now.
I could definitely do this, it’s all about your mindset
The calmer you are. This shit becomes easy. But yes getting over that transition to what you let disturb your center is the challenge
Getting to the point of being calm is the real training. The swimming itself isn't usually that taxing on the body
I used to do this for fun. I even tied a scuba weight belt on and jumped into the pool. I was 12 years old. I calmly walked on the pool floor to the ladder which was 10 feet away. If you keep a calm mind and a level head, just execute and you'll survive longer than most.
Si es una sensación gratificante tanto física como mentalmente. Cuando quedas inmovil y caes aplomado en el fondo, tu cuerpo cambia la perspectiva y logras disfrutar el no setir peso, presión ni flotabilidad. As a surfer, that's pretty much what it feels like to be held under the shore break. Scary at first but you just have to detach yourself from the situation and stay calm. You will never make a good decision while your panicking or scared

Hell Yeah I'm Willing to Try!
I have done this and it’s not difficult at all. Once you understand what to do.. Step one, take a deep breath. Stop two, slowly let the air outta your lungs. This way you’ll sink. Step three, once all your air is exhaled. You’ll find yourself at the bottom once more. Stet four, kick as hard as you can, upward. And again take another deep breath. Then repeat. It’s 98% mental and 2% physical.. I didn’t even need to learn this at BUDS either. I learned this within 10 minutes of lifeguard school.. Same exact thing with the rubber brick test. The idea is to not allow the brick to touch the water surface. While I will admit this can certainly become physically demanding!.. It’s kinda the same principle tho!. You hold the deepest breath you can, for al long as possible. Your head unfortunately will doubtfully be able to stay above water. But tread water as vigorously as possible while allowing your full lungs do the majority of the work. Then when you must come back up for a fresh deep breath. Kick as hard as possible to get that head above water, long enough to get a really good deep breath. And repeat until further notice. These are simply mind games, made to weed out those who are weak minded and aren’t good at problem management.. They effectively want to break you, to see who truly doesn’t want to honestly be there and embrace the suck.. (no homo) 😁
most powerful army of the world🎉
Yes, I did it this past weekend for fun. Depth of 18-20ft.
Of course. Way easier if you just relax
Your head might feel a lil throbbing but you’ll be ight
Step 1) locate a sharp object to cut rope
Step 2) try to get hands out from underneath you
Step 3) float on your back
You may be in a position where there is no bottom so bouncing off the bottom of the pool won't do you any good.
People who can do it make it look so easy
Yep did it. Senior corpsman of a recon unit
This is back in the early 2000's. Navy had a water confidence course where you are doing something similar to this ( not the same though). When you think you are a good swimmer to be humbled real quick. Those who swam competitively in their younger years flourished in the course. But you get a better understanding what you are capable of in water. At one point i could hold my breath for 1 min and 15 seconds with the techniques they teach you (only was able to hold it for 20 seconds prior to the course). ALOT of people quit after the first/second day ( 5 day course). Really a humbling experience. Source: prior Navy station off 32nd street San Diego, CA
if you grew up around freediving or scuba it's pretty fun as well.
