I visited the USA for the very first time earlier this year and chose DC as my city of choice, and as it was also my first time flying abroad on my own, riding these was a really interesting experience - I've never ridden anything like it before! At most airports, including Heathrow, where I flew out of, you'd simply hop on a transit train and fly down a set of rails to the arrivals hall, but actually getting to go across the apron and see all the goings-on was a really fun time. I know there's way more efficient ways of handling the process of moving from satellite gates to a main terminal than this, but it's so unique that I hope it sticks around at least a little longer. Definitely looking forward to coming back!

I haven't flown out of Dulles in well over 10 years, but I can't believe they are still using these ridiculous things. Thanks for the video.

I think it's cool, you get to see planes up close.

International arrivals have to ride on them still, but it’s now optional for departures with the underground train

Without any guidance I used to create people mover lounges using build o fun bricks when I was in primary school.

Definitely old school. But, yes very cool for avgeeks (like me) who enjoy all those live plane spotting channels like Big Jet TV. I first saw these giant vehicles on the movie, Airport 1975, which was filmed in part at Dulles, of course.

My cousin's father in law fixed those mobile lounges in the 1960s. Got the VIP tour of IAD in 1968.
