I’m a huge fan of Star Wars and RC cars, so I’m really excited about this new remote control AT-AT Walker by ThinkWay Toys sold exclusively at Toys ‘R Us. I’ve already purchased and reviewed the Air Hogs RC Millennium Falcon Quadcopter and X-Wing Starfighter, both of which seem to have better build quality and paint jobs at a lower price than this AT-AT Walker. What this lacks in those categories it tries to make up in features. It has 10 program buttons that can be used to program over 1,000 action combinations, a head that moves while walking, lights, sounds, and heavy laser canons that move and light up with sound effects to simulate firing.
It’s pretty cool to play with and my boys’ have fun operating it, but it isn’t for everyone - especially when it costs $130. It’s pretty scale to their Star Wars Lego figures and could offer some fun play in that environment, but you could opt for the Lego AT-AT for $10 less than this RC.

They did make an AT-AT walker back in the days. I used to have one. It was like 2/3ft tall, 3ft long, 1ft wide and you had to walk it yourself. Moved its head and legs, and had a "storage" compartment on the bottom side where Luke throws in the grenade. We made a home movie of an Imperial invasion once with colored straws as the lasers just tossing them in. It was epic. Good times. The tech these days is more advanced then ever before but cheap material, and the attention to detail was way better back then.
We don't need snowspeeders to take down a AT-AT. We need a carpet! Time to carpet Hoth, it'll make the place warmer too!

Reminds me of when I was little. These were my favorite Star Wars things, but back then I was too little to really understand the movies, so I didn't know they were called AT-AT walkers. I called them "The Kitty Cat Walkers." I still think of them as Giant Kitty Cats with guns even now.

Im not bashing on the product but is there a way i can by a more realistic rc at at? I might sound like a nerd but the walking motions need to be more slow and it looks... Toy like.

That is pretty cool. It would have been cool if these kinds of toys would have been around when I was a kid, but I would wouldn't have been able to afford them. Took me a whole summer of collecting tin cans to buy the Millennium Falcon. Thanks for sharing!
Take it to a pro painter and have them do it up. That thing is really sick for what it is. 👍

Walk slower, pick feet up, shoot real lasers lol. This is a pretty amazing thing if they would go deeper in detail

I’m in my 20’s, but I’d still play with this! I’ve loved the Galactic Empire’s mechanical camels since childhood! One of my most favorite Star Wars vehicles! They were nearly unstoppable, except for their flaw of their legs being tied up! Loved the review, great video!
Mate you could've had at least one low angle camera shot from ground level, to simulate it's true size. You've got the white Hoth-like background and everything....

You could always use some spray paint and stencils to make fake scuff marks and blaster burns for a more realistic battle hardened walker. Nice review :)

+DutchRC ADVENTURES quite a few controls for sure! They did a great job with the walking movement. My boys are now playing with it and their Legos like I thought they would. I noticed it was gone from my office and found them playing in their toy room with it.

I got the R2-D2 from them. It was pricey but cool. It's well built and looks great.

Great review. I'm a star wars toy collector. I wanted to see if this item was worth collecting. The fact that it's Rc and programmable is outstanding. The outside detail is a little toyish but that doesn't bother me as much. I think I will get this item next week. Thank you for reviewing this item it was very helpful.

That scene with the Minifigures are actually mostly clone troopers along with stormtroopers t-shaped visors= Clone. 2 round circles=stormtrooper

You'll be very lucky to get that exact toy I've just purchased one and they're not cheap usually things that fire are broken but if you can get one in good working order just remember they're not cheap

+Tom Sharp Thanks for watching and for the comment. I'd have to agree with you there. The Sphero BB-8 is a much more complete and solid product. I haven't been able to get my hands on one yet. I got this to use in some videos with the other Star Wars RC vehicles and for my boys to use with their Legos. They love it and use it all the time - even without the remote.

I wish the feet would lift up higher + less 'hyper' about swaying side-to-side. Needs to lift legs up higher. This would have been epic also if it was adapted for Canadian snow weather fun, or snow in general. Man, I'd love this but feels like an understandable wasted opportunity....I really want this, yet it's not for me with its flaws it has. I do praise it highly for having directional walking. Step up from toys I'm used to in the 90's.

This walker is really cool and I think the price is OK .
I think I have never seen before a RC vehicle or pet that could walk realsitic ... this is the first . I personally would it not give it to a kid under 10 years ... for me it looks more like a Geek-toy .
The price is ok, but definitely limiting to some who would buy it. The walking is super realistic for an AT-AT walker. My 6-year-old son drives it great because it is slow. I agree...it is a geek-toy. A pretty cool geek toy for dad's to use while playing with their kids. :)
