When I first heard the new Adele single ‘Easy On Me’ I instantly thought of the late 80’s. Maybe it’s the chord progression or the way she sings it, but something about it just made me want to rework it into an 80’s ballad.

This brings back memories of listening to this song in middle school in 1987 when all the kids were so mean to me, I wish they would have gone easy on me. I tried singing this song to them but they bullied me even more. The 80s were painful and the music was beautiful.

I remember when I was 9 years old and this first came out. My mom and I were on a road trip, and she cried a little kit during this song. I didn’t understand why at that time, but now that I’ve had my heart broken, I understand now.
Adele does seem to be working on being pretty timeless, the moment it’s released too. The outro by the way is transcendental- I’m fully back in 1986

This song reminds me of my final year in school 88. I'm wasa massive geek, wore trouser braces, over sized jackets and a pork pie hat with shades on. Thought I was mega cool at the time. I was completely in love with my best friend Andy, but she didn't like me that way. This is the song I tried to tell her how I felt. I still love her now.
