18:25 it could be that because there's obviously some kind of freezing liquid that his body starts to generate when he's fully grown. I've seen comments elsewhere complaining that Gamera doesn't appear enough in this movie; maybe only a grand total of 20 minutes, but I think that was a deliberate choice by the makers that actually lifts this one above the normal brain-dead plots of many Japanese monster movies -- there is an actual human drama to this film; the monsters are part of the action, but not the main forces driving the plot. You have to wait for nearly an hour for Gamera to appear (after the brief introduction), so when he does, the suspense really pays off. The first encounter between Gamera and Barugon is a scene I'm sure has thrilled millions of young people over the years, and when I saw it as a child, it made a huge impression on me, even though Gamera gets frozen and doesn't reappear until the last 20 minutes of the movie. Credit must be given to the director for choosing to film many of the monster scenes at night, which gives an added creepiness and enhances the mood. I'd recommend viewing this movie in original Japanese with subtitles and in the widescreen format as it's presented here.

Gotta agree with this being the best Showa Gamera film. I've been consistently disappointed that they never brought Barugon back. I mean, Zedus from Gamera The Brave was literally just the same thing but bipedal and without any awesome powers.
I think the old man in the white suit looks more like John Hammond from Jurassic Park. He does live on an island from which a big, scaly beast comes from after all
"Okay to not to be confused with the monsters barugon and baragon, barugon a huge brown four-legged creature with a horn on his face and baragon a huge four-legged creature with a horn on his face hope that sums it up"🧐
Partially right. Godzilla > Showa Gamera Godzilla < Heisei Gamera. Only Godzilla film better than the Gamera Trilogy is the original. Gamera 3 is especially better than *anything* Godzilla has put out in either the Heisei *or* Millennium films.
+Creepershark77 - Shin Godzilla is not a Heisei movie. Neither is the original. And as for King Ghidorah? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA no. That's probably the worst movie in the entire franchise with the exception of All Monsters Attack. Convoluted plot, shit time travel logic, and characters that are so dumb it's a wonder any of them function as normal human beings. Only good thing about that movie is the monster bits and I don't watch movies JUST for action.
I'm sure I'm just missing something, but the random Star Destroyer at 0:38 kinda threw me. 1:46 "Look, it's Gam-AIR-a! Quick, get your cam-AIR-a!" 6:03 "By firing-off a gun in this enclosed space, I've kept us from harm!" "WHAT?! MY EARS ARE BLEEDING!" 6:21 "When I said I hid the priceless opal in the cave for safe-keeping, I meant I kinda lobbed it in as I was running-by to catch the end of Native happy-hour. Don't judge; they get nuts". 14:09 Gamera and everyone else. 16:42 "Don't worry, scientists; whatever your plan, I'll put wave after wave of our own men at your disposal! Right, men?" "YOU SUCK!!"
based on the numbers I could scrounge up online I calculated that based on the average price per carat of good quality diamond (i.e. shiny and pretty) at 6000 carats would cost around 27 million dollars.
Alright, to clear up the confusion for everyone: Barugon is weakened by FRESH water, ocean water doesn't affect him. They clarify this in the Japanese version but not the English dubs. 1:12: Ha! It's funny 'cause Gamera and Godzilla still haven't gotten around to fighting each other, yet.
They can't Gamera is made by Daiei and Godzilla is Toho property.
originally barugon was supposed to be the antagonist in gamera the Guardian of the universe but was replaced by gyaos
07:39. Actually Gamera is the bringer of misery with his Tokyo Stomp/eco-stomp. Kenny is just his herald of doom. ;)
I am so pumped for Gamera vs Guiron. And Zigra. Yessssss
honestly I love with the music u put in when you announced no Kenny
Gotta agree with this being the best Showa Gamera film. I've been consistently disappointed that they never brought Barugon back. I mean, Zedus from Gamera The Brave was literally just the same thing but bipedal and without any awesome powers.
I think the old man in the white suit looks more like John Hammond from Jurassic Park. He does live on an island from which a big, scaly beast comes from after all
"Okay to not to be confused with the monsters barugon and baragon, barugon a huge brown four-legged creature with a horn on his face and baragon a huge four-legged creature with a horn on his face hope that sums it up"🧐
That's not Barugon's tongue, it's obviously a piece of 5 gum. He likes to stimulate his senses. And freeze poor bastards.
There's no Kenny's in this movie because most were killed as collateral damage in the first movie!!!🙏🐢
Skittles should use barugon as a mascot
Godzilla is better
Octavia Melody we don't need your opinion about his input, but you are right.
Was that ever a debate?
Partially right.
Godzilla > Showa Gamera
Godzilla < Heisei Gamera.
Only Godzilla film better than the Gamera Trilogy is the original. Gamera 3 is especially better than *anything* Godzilla has put out in either the Heisei *or* Millennium films.
Drew Seelig try saying that to Godzilla resurgence, or the first movie, or even Godzilla vs King Ghidorah
Was that.... The Empire I just saw for a split second towards the end of the opening?
I'm sure I'm just missing something, but the random Star Destroyer at 0:38 kinda threw me.
1:46 "Look, it's Gam-AIR-a! Quick, get your cam-AIR-a!"
6:03 "By firing-off a gun in this enclosed space, I've kept us from harm!" "WHAT?! MY EARS ARE BLEEDING!"
6:21 "When I said I hid the priceless opal in the cave for safe-keeping, I meant I kinda lobbed it in as I was running-by to catch the end of Native happy-hour.
Gamera: "DO YOU ACCEPT LORD BLUNDERGOSH AS YOUR SAVIOR?"
