I just love the world building in story one with an inexperienced spacer getting some good advice from someone who has been in the game for years already. Seems like something well worth a drink or two.
Life not being rare, but being slow seems simple enough to counteract (not easy mind you). You could seed many planets with life and thanks to parallel evolution, you could start out with limited species (three or four of the previous sentients) and end up with upwards of twelve. And if you're concerned about not all of them emerging, you can put more cloned populations of said species on more worlds.
if giving it some proper evolutionary time frames.... it might be so simple as to just ensure a celestial body have some sort of thermal chemistry going on while in semistable orbits.. just look at terra , from searching for 'the' way life spawns... it turned into multiple pathways it almost been garantied to have sparked , and thats only carbon based oxygen using forms , the potentials when adding things like planetoid sized moons having thermal activity due to tidal gravity around gas giants the potential for slow burn sparking of life might be a long process but... not a bad one.
@@RomanvonUngernSternbergnrmfvus suspect that if trying to be predictive about 'life' developing unless messing with a place and borderline seeding it with clones as a 'snap shoot' of a already 'run' ecology scenario ...i guess anything outside of basics like ''planet rich in carbon = high chance of carbon based life''.. or ''planet with very clear gasses making up the majority of its atmosphere = high chance for visual sensor organs to develop'' be sort of pointless to try before you can predict the 'path' of every atom in 4 000 000 000 light years around the chosen celestial body :/ otherwise there is always a joker in the deck at anytime ..from celestial events like solar flares to how a entire pathway of evolution might be denied as its competition made its progenitors go extinct.
Instead of that one song “Down with the Sickness” it should be “Down with the Sadness” because being alone on that scale is enough to Murder heaven and hell both. If that were truly the case, thankfully it’s a statical impossibility.
It would be nice if our actual colonization efforts bore fruit. 35 years ago I looked to the sky with hope. Now I look up and wish things had gone differently. Too many short sighted, greedy people....
The "Alone" story line... Ok, no one left, "We are so alone!!!" Well get off your lazy asses and uplift Dogs, Cats, Simians, Whales and Porpoises, Horses, etc. etc. etc. It's not like you lack real estate to start them off on. Hell, find some alien animals and uplift them too. I get the drift of the story, but Humans don't often sit and whine about big problems until we die off. We FIX them. Even if we fix them foolishly or unwisely.
How about you “for the algorithm” boys come up with something interesting to say if you care so much about the health of the channel, surely a hearty discussion is better than a one off.

That's seems like a archaeologists dream... we may be alone for now but there is so much to learn from the wreaks and understand the cause... If loneliness is a great filter its the easiest filter I have ever heard... as long as you got something to do no matter what it is loneliness can go f itself... and there is a infinite things to do, lean and try.

Depends on what you want you time frame to be, it also depends on how good your predictive abilities are for things that will effect the environment.

that is more for youtube to pick up on it and to help the channel that way- youtube seeing that it regularly gets a lot of interaction.
