Being a young black teenage girl growing up on the west side of Chicago in America, I struggled finding friends who loved these guys as much as I did. It was my father who would make sure I had front row concert tickets to their shows whenever they would come to America. I'm 50 years old now, and these guys still have my heart.

Def Leppard waited for Rick to heal. They showed their integrity as a band when Rick had his accident. I have a lot of respect for them. I had a blast at the arena in Marysville twice when they played along with Journey. Def Leppard fan for life.

I still can't believe that the band blew up here in the U.S. before it blew up in the U.K. I didn't find that out until the 2000s.

I could watch interviews with def leppard all day. I have a list of people I could just sit in front of a log fire with with a glass of my favourite drink and a cheap cigar and just listen to them talk about stuff, these guys are high on that list.

These cracked the USA (not too many UK bands have managed that early on) besides UK and Fans worldwide. They respect fellow bands of their genre + the Drummer tbf. Absolutely rinsed Hysteria @ 9 yrs old+, & 'Adrenalize' was a bit of a grower, but fave nowadays!
I saw them 3 times in the 80's......still not convinced

The BEST rock band ever 🎸
I wish Def Leppard would do a tour for those of us who love the heavier stuff. Just a tour playing songs like wasted, comin’ under fire, white lightning, lady strange, etc! Savage says they didn’t want to alienate us but that’s exactly what happened. Leppard haven’t released any heavy stuff since Retroactive.

Interesting to see Rick Savage play the six-string and actually do that little lead guitar part.
my understanding is he started off as a guitarist, but switched to bass admitting Willis was better, and they needed a bass.

Aah...the Lepps were one of my favourites in high school...wished I could have seen them when Steve was alive...he was my favourite...too bad he couldn't win his battles against his demons...

I know everyone has gotten older but I would like to see them do a concert in there old wardrobe I'm not saying the original but the wardrobe made now that they used to wear the holy jeans the T shirts the jewelry etc!! I just think it would bring back some awesome times with the same great music
I rehearsed in their room at the Portland works back then. We took it over after they left due to hitting the big time. At the time, we hoped using the same room would mean we'd make it too. Despite much work it was not to be. Def Leppard...biggest band to ever come out of Sheffield...🙄😌

I saw them at a fairly small venue (like 500 capacity) just before they broke big and my strongest live impression was the great harmony vocals of Joe and Rick
You sure it wasn't just more of an intimate gig, bands still did that even when they made it big/very big!

@@mikekaraoke I'm gonna guess I was 15, which makes it 1978 but it could be a year either way. In fact it was at the no longer existing West Runton Pavilion, in Norfolk, England. A tiny rural venue, way off the radar that somehow managed to book a series of major acts just before they broke. Saw Motorhead (classic line up), Rory Gallagher, Budgie there all in the middle of nowhere :-)

A bit? Make no mistake, Rick Allen losing his arm was what put Def Leppard into arena status.
What made them go pop. Their music is shit now.
I remember waiting for Hysteria to come out, it seemed to be delayed for ages, I actually think Animal was the first single? Then the whole thing just exploded and remember seeing them in the round for the the first time ...great days

They gradually became big in Britain between Pyromania and Hysteria; while nobody would ever wish Rick Allen a horrible car crash and losing an arm, the truth is that it gave the band residual publicity they weren't previously getting.
