Please know throughout the past several years I’ve watched this countless times and am always moved to tears by your Whiter Shade of Pale part. Those runs touch a deep part of my soul. Thank you so much!
Huge thancks to Matt Fisher to gave such a beautifull sound ....finally he'd win his trial over this song in 2000 year....Sure they were Gary Brooker's voice ,but it was Matt's Idea to include Bach's Thema with this haunting unique sound.Fisher was the other side of Procol ,rip Gary .
That is a fabulous sounding M / 760 combination, seems to have a great deal of power at the higher end of the upper manual where the spinets typically lack presence due to fold back. I have 2 M100s and 760s and yours sounds the best I’ve heard. Thanks!
Great organ and great playing, Pen. I have the same organ here in NYC, very happy with it. I don't have a Leslie now, but hope to get one next year or a Neo Ventilator.
i'm in love... :-) it's been a few years since I had the "Hammond" itch, and this video reminded me exactly why I always end up getting lost in the moments and feel like every jam session needs to be cured with the hair of the dog- seriously, i just get drunk on the sound! LOVE it... God I miss my Hammond!
hey, i do a lot of gigging with the hammond. this is actually a chop made by a local organ dealer... he was pretty well known in making this chops. there is the hammond p 100 which was meant to be the only portable hammond organ, it looks pretty much the same, but it has no scanner vibrato i think ;) but i can say, that it is not easy to pop this 65 kg hammond in my caravan, you need to be two persons. and the non chopped m100 or l100 is heavier!
did you mic the leslie or was it just a camera mic? it's like the the best hammond spinet video i've found. i wish i had leslie so my m3 could sound like that, but i was fortunate to get the m3 for free in retrospect..
I had my moms old 1964 M and wanted to find it a nice home, but couldn't so I listed it on ebay and sold it cheap, He was going to chop it and use in in his band at his Church. I think he drove a hour and a half up to my area of Northern California to pick it up
ouh why that? i thought that my hammond sounds a little cheesy. i have to change the tubes immediately, hope it gets a little warmer then. and the leslie cabinet has some new drivers (jensen at top and bottom)
I had a Yamaha DX9 with a Ross flanger into a bass amp to get a passable Hammond sound. I over drive the Yamaha output to distort the flanger. It was an on the fly technique to get a decent sound at that time. The sound was better than my ability to play as inexperience player.
leegenix Addendum: Back in the 80's I saw an advertisement selling a B-3 with Leslie for $100. I had the money but no way to haul it. After locating a van, I called back but it was already sold. I was heart broken.
Yeah the M3 has no presets and it's got the two switch start up like the B3, not the one switch like the M100/L100s. And waterfall keys! Hmmm, P100 I've never heard of that! And yeah, I can imagine lugging it around even when it's chopped up! I need 2 people to help me when I gig with my Rhodes suitcase and barely fits in the hatchback! But I guess if I really wanted to gig with the M3 I could use my dad's pickup, after all that's how I got it to my house! What was your chop guy's name?
hey, well it is a chopped spinet actually :) but the technique is original... it was recorded by zoom H2 and the video captured by my camera. later i synchronised the hole thing :)
The amp is full Stock ao 29 and the leslie is full stock too exept speaker some Potis and some Relais. I think that it could sound much better with some New tubes:-P
Hey man I was curious, do you gig with the M100? I have an M3 at home and I wanna gig with a real Hammond, but I don't feel like chopping it up. Is the M100 more portable? I know any Hammond, even a spinet, isn't exactly "portable" ahaha, but I was wondering. I feel like an M100 or L100 would be easy to plop in the back of a pickup. Just figured I'd ask. She sounds great, by the way! I have a pair of 825s at home, the half sized 760!
is the M-100 have the same sound as a B3 or C3 or is this organ in a different sound class? I want a b3 but cannot afford one so was going to settle for this one its much cheaper and get the portable 760 Leslie i found for $1250
Cool man! I espessialy loved that sound and "grum/grunge", if I can say so xD, that you had on Jon Lord's lazy! So cool! May I ask where you learned it from? any place u bought the note from?
The M series seems to have more natural "growl" and bite to it compared to the B-3...just an observation. Did you have yours re-capped or anything to give it this tone or just all original? Is this the old wax capped version or the later red caps version from the mid sixties onward? Your playing is so inspirational! I love you rendition of "lazy" (Deep Purple). You definitely laid the Jon Lord MOJO down! I think he would here been very impressed! I was sad when your battery went low while you were grinding out those awesome classical chords... This was really great!
:) thank you for the very kind words! well you are right, my M100 has a nice growl, but it is because it has got a "hot" output jack, which makes it easy to overdrive. I also think i have the red caps, but recently they seem to die. i have to replace them all sometime ;) i love my M100, it has such a great progressive-rock sound ;)
@@chalcone probably he has a combination of good gain from the organ and good tubes over driving the Leslie but the Leslie might be solid state I think 760 is a solid-state I'm not sure
Gruss Martin
Just curious...when you had the M100 chopped did that include replacing the start/run switches with the one switch? I played a few Hammond spinets back when I was a teenager during mid to late '60s and remembered the M100 having one switch and the L having two switches. I've been recently debating against others in another social media platform and have been called out in error many times on this matter - the reverse being the actual case. Could it be that both the L and M series started off with 2 switches and at some point developed and changed over to the one start/run switch. Not necessarily that critical an issue as the climate change thing going on but, again, just curious. Great playing and sound from a real Hammond organ player, btw.
Hey, my organ was chopped a long time ago. And then the Motor was replaced and so the start Switch. But that motor was worn out over the years, so i recently replaced it by a new us Motor with converter circuit from 220v to 110v. So now my organ again has two Switches...
@@bendasbrot Thank you for your answer. Så you switch between the two lines out with a knop/switch on the organ? To switch between "the beast" and the soft Hammond sound? And both lines out goes direct into the leslie?

Goosebumps definitely.. my fav part is the Burn- Live in Japan solo
Ive done the same. I come back here when im in my happy place. Thank you!
Your playing is so simplistically beautiful, not overdone to the point of it not being pleasant anymore like most player

Interesting, I didn't know that Hammond made an organ with proper keys that overhang. That must be so much nicer to play on!
Thanks for sharing.
6:26 🤣😂 das hat sooo gepasst in dem Moment sehe ich meinen Nachbarn durchs Fenster wie er an nem Knopf tippt
I didn't know there were m100s with only one run switch. In America I've always seen 2.

WTH?!...uh, yeah. Do that more often. Excellent video!!
all those controls at the top would have me dizzy. but this is awesome
beautiful instrument and playing
to answer you question, the m3 is nearly the same as the m100, instead of having no presets i think. and the m3 has waterfall keys!
hammond sound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!great!
i am curious what camera you used to do this video. What ever you did its the best video i have ever heard of this model hammond

by turning it simply very loud :D
Very Nice!
its something like "besame mucho" :D:D
well the organ itself has spring reverb. in addition to that, the room was pretty big ;)
nice Purpendicular Tune at 3:20
yes it is :)
I just got an 1961 M100 how did you connect your Leslie?
Well my m100 was modded and chopped. It has a Jack Output which goes into a leslie combo preamp 2 into the leslie via multipin cable

incredible playing my man! what's the bluesy tune that starts around the 4 minute mark?
that should be "besame mucho" :)

3:20 - Deep Purple - Cascades intro
Oh, and also, how did you get so much reverb in this video? Is it built into the organ itself, or in the Leslie?
Was ist das Lied, das Sie nach der Einführung spielen? Auch wissen Sie, wo ich die Noten für Mr.Sandman bekommen könnte?
get you that neo ventalitor leslie box $450 they said you cannot tell you are using an AMP with it others will sware its a real leslie

Dear Ben das Brot. How do you make that distorted John Lord sound? Is it via the preamp?
My organ has two Jack Outputs, one being normal line level, the other being very very Hot, so it has distortion via the leslie...
