  • Grant is President and Chief Executive Officer of the Pittsburgh Foundation. Under his leadership, the Foundation has undergone a major transformation in community engagement and has played major roles in launching of the Pittsburgh Promise scholarship program and development of PittsburghGives, an on-line giving and research portal that raised $13.5 million in two years for local nonprofit
organizations. Press Secretary to U.S. Senator John Heinz, until the senator's untimely death in 1991, Grant frequently leads community discussions on critical issues and has taken a prominent role in building advocacy groups to support the Pittsburgh nonprofit community and the families they serve. Grant earned his B.A. from Swarthmore College and his M.S. in Organizational Development from Pepperdine University.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
