  • Here's another Danish lesson from me, on how to flirt in Danish. I hope that you enjoy it!
    Present Yourself Lesson: • DANISH LESSON 1 - PRES...
    Christmas Edition: • 19 | Danish Lesson Chr...
    WHAT YOU LEARNED:
    Cheap Pick Up Lines:
    1. Are you religious? Because you are the answer to all my prayers = Er du religiøs? For du er svaret på alle mine bønner.
    2. I seem to have lost my phone number, can I have yours?
    Jeg lader til at have mistet mit telefonnummer, kan jeg få dit?
    3. There’s only one thing I would change about you, your surname/last name.
    = Der er kun én ting jeg ville ændre ved dig, dit efternavn
    4. Did it hurt when you fell down from heaven?
    = Gjorde det ondt da du faldt ned fra himlen?
    COMPLIMENTS
    You are… = Du er…
    I think you are… = Jeg synes du er...
    If you know those, you can learn any complimenting adjective and put if after.
    Beautiful = Smuk
    smart/clever = klog
    Lovely = dejlig
    fantastic = fantastisk (notice how alike)
    cute = sød.
    charming = charmerende.
    attractive = tiltrækkende.
    If you do really well with your flirting, and want to ask the girl/guy on a date, this is what you say:
    “Do you want to go on a date with me”
    = vil du gå på en date med mig?
    SONGS
    Kvinde Min: • Kim Larsen & Kjukken -...
    Du Er: • News - Du Er
    Elsker Dig For Evigt: • Lars H.U.G. - Elsker d...
    If all of this is going to make you fall in love, and you want to tell this person that, this is what you say:
    I love you = jeg elsker dig.
    W H O A M I?

    This is a great lesson!! All my grandparents came from Denmark (I'm American), and I've *always* wanted to learn to speak Danish. I'm normally good at learning languages, but Danish is usually pronounced so softly that I have trouble hearing the sounds clearly. You really make it clear! Mange tak!

    Even if you are not looking for these exact instances, everything is worthy of learning. Thank you for taking your time out to teach us. I am travelling to Danmark this year for the first time, and need all the help I can get. Mange Tak!

    I have actually been asked, "did you hurt when you fell from heaven." and i replied, not kidding this was my honest knee jerk reaction, i said, "No, it was a pain in the ass crawling out of hell." and my best friend who was with me (we were at a local bar) laughed so hard she fell off her barstool. I will say that i was really proud of myself for a moment. they guy looked a little taken aback. i dont think he was expecting that comment. XD

      +Elise Buch Look: 1. Du er klog = Du bist klug. 2. Vil du...? = Willst du...? 3. Himlen = Himmel, 4. Er du religiøs? = Bist du religiös? (You pronounce ø most of the time like the German ö), 5. Telefonnummer is exactly the same word. Just a few examples to show you what I mean. :)

    Thank you for the Danish lessons! :-D
    I've been "learning" German (by listening to a band called Eisbrecher, lol) and I find it very similar to Swedish with some occasional similarities to Danish. I suck at actually saying anything correctly, but having enough knowledge & understanding to at least read/write a few words & phrases with some marginal degree of competence is still useful. :-)

    I don't think any Americans are watching haha. 90% of the world call it football. The reason why there are regional differences is because there are local games named football. Like Australian football, American football, and even Gaelic (Irish) football where I am from!

    Im so glad im considered very unclingy or needy in America , have a gorgeous danish Gf, and its a completely different way of dating , every thing is fair and even.. I learned how to speak danish and learned the danish ways of dating and when i told my gf these cheesy pick up lines she just laughed and blushed, but i would not recommend going up to a Dane saying these pick up lines if you dont know them well haha .. Our first date was social going to a friends party together and i had no clue about the danish culture at the time so good thing i didnt ask her to dinner on the first date but she has mention the " Jeg elsker dig" after a while of dating

    About the pick-up lines; there is a dutch television show in which some guys have to do or say what other guys tell them to. And one of the missions was to get the telephone number of a girl by using a pick-up line they were told. They would only get a point if they got the number. One of them did actually accomplish it. xD

    Elise, tell me: I've heard that danish women are generally shy. In what situations can a man ask a danish girl to go out with him? Do I have to wait how much time? What signals can I expect if a girl from Denmark is liking me? You could start making sentimental advices in general to your followers... That could be funny... :) Love you and your videos!

    Awkwardness from compliments is a Danish trait? YAY! More evidence of my Danish roots/heritage! :-D That explains a lot.
    Sure, I like hearing good things about myself, of course, but I feel SO weird about it, and get fidgety if it's done in public or in front of others, and sometimes (due to my own "insecurities" or "acknowledged shortcomings") it even makes me irritable cos I think it's untrue and/or a patronizing/condescending lie or fib (like they're just telling me what they think I wanna hear, or cos they have an agenda and they are buttering me up with flattery).

    I watch this Show Wild N Out. They played a game where they use pick up lines on girls and they're all funny.

    In the US, you would never use the word "date" when asking a girl out either. That's way too awkward and ovious. You would just ask the girl if she wants to go to see a movie, have coffee, to dinner etc.
