    These Magpul followers I used in my USGI magazines in the Marine Corps. Technically I was not supposed to but fixed my problem with my mags creating malfunctions in my rifle. This could save lives. No doubt. I tell all my Marines about these. Plus you can remove them when you get out of the unit, and bring them right back home with ya. Which makes an excuse to buy more magazines. LOL

      @shotgunsmellyofficial6894 6 років тому

      Haven't you heard? The army and marine corps made them standard issue, then shortly after the Marines made the PMAG the standard issue magazine of the corps

      I could honestly see that anyone in charge in the field would be doing it themselves and letting others do this if they were deployed. They’d just have to make sure to put the issued followers in a box and put them back when it was time to go

    One of the reasons I enjoy your videos is that you talk about things which are known to be true. A lot of people think they are fire arms experts just because they can pull a trigger. Just because you can hit the bulls eye does not make you an expert on fire arms. Your videos are informative and to the point. I bought my first gun in 1979 but I still look for information that can help me become a better shooter and gain more facts without the fiction. Keep up your very put together videos.

THESE GREEDY BASTARDS WERE SELLING $8.00 MAGS FOR OVER $100.00 OVERNIGHT!!!. IV'E NEVER BOUGHT FROM THEM AGAIN AND NEVER WILL.THEY STILL HAVE THE HIGHEST PRICES EVEN IN 2018!!! PROVE ME WRONG,ADD IN SHIPPING/HANDLING,YOUR'E GETTING FUCKED!!! THE BETTER SITES WILL GIVE YOU FREE SHIPPING/HANDLING WITH THE SAME PRODUCT/OR A BETTER PRODUCT AT A LOWER PRICE POINT!!! SHOP AROUND,DON'T GET RIPPED OFF!!! CHEAPER THAN DIRT SUCKS!!!

    Great advice. A bad follower does cause jams. The advice I used to use on military mags was: if its green it starts to lean, tan is the plan. If it's black send it back. Now I only use mag pull mags. But you can salvage your old military mags. Excellent video.

    Great video. Just have to mention that I just got USGI replacement base plates from Botach, similar to the Magpul USGI ranger plate, but more of a round loop that I find easier to manipulate than the Magpul ranger plates. But the biggest difference isn't in use or quality, it's the price. I got a pack of 3 of the Botach plates for under $10, opposed to Magpuls pack of 3 for $18. Plus, IMO, Botachs look cooler. Very similar to the D&H Sports round "mag assist" base plates (which I've never been able to find where to purchase any & are prolly very expensive). So. Just another alternative for anyone looking for a ranger plate/mag assist style base plate for USGI mags. The Botach plates are def worth taking a look at. Plus if u don't end up liking en for whatever reason, $8 isn't a big loss & I'm sure u can sell em on ebay or something. But I'm almost positive most people will love em. Semper Fidelis

    A good informative video, sir. I just ordered some replacement followers. An alternative to taping the 550 cord to the mag, remove the inner threads of the cord & tie a knot near the ends & melt loose ends. Slide floor plate 3/4 open & place the knot between the spring & mag. walls, then slide floor plate closed, keeping the cord near center of mag & pinching between floor plate & mag wall. Us poor people have poor ways, always adapting & improvising.

    I don't know what the current prices are, but I know that when I purchased my pmags.... they were cheaper than the used GI mags. (I got the 30 round pmags for somewhere from 10 to 12 US dollars each, and the GI mags were consistently 15-25 dollars each) That being said, This video was VERY informative! I've always wondered why people would want or need the magazine addons. Now I know!

    Sootch, the gold is actually the original finish. The Air Force used to coat their mags gold…don't know when they stopped but I have some 20's from the end of Vietnam that look like that. A little research showed that my specific mags were made by one of the few manufactures that supplied to the Air Force.

    Do you know if this follower fits a 20 rounnd mag? I have a couple Colt 20s. They have the same crappy follower. Also would the floor plates work? The bottom of the Colt 20 has a 15 Deg angle at the bottom. Same size tabs though. Everything else looks the same.

  • @joshl90
    @joshl90 11 років тому +1

    These are excellent Magpul upgrades, but magazine springs are not under tension, they are under compression. For some reason in the firearms industry, many switch the two forces. A spring under tension would be one that is being stretched/pulled. A spring under compression would be one that is being compressed.

    I have some that I got at a gunshow might be from the same guy since Sootch and I are both from SC. Mine are Okay Industries. Guy had tubs full of them a while back for $5 each and they are just good warn surplus mags most of mine were full of sand and they all had blue duct tape wrapped around them with the old style followers. I have cleaned them all took the tape off and put Magpul followers in all of them might get Rangers for them too so I can match them up with my OD and FDE equipped guns.

    Luckily for me, all my mags came with anti-tilt followers so I don't have to replace them. But I do have 10 Gen2 MOE PMags which I would like to get the dust covers for. Not just for the dust of course, but more for relieving the pressure on the feed lips. Right now of course they are kind of hard to find with Magpul concentrating on making PMags, but eventually I will get them. ;-) BTW, I was surprised that you didn't mention the dust covers at all...
