    Interesting to see Trinidadian version of Pholourie. We are 4th generation Indians in East Africa. We use channa (Besan) flour. We add bhaji in Pholourie. Our chutney is tomatoes cucumber with green Dhania. Sometimes there is Tamarind chutney. Pholourie is Bhajia in East Africa. Amazing to see the Indian snacks common across the oceans.

    I HIGHLY recommend Aunty Jang's method for dropping the pholourie into the oil. They turn out almost perfectly round. 👍🏼

    How much cups is 2 &1/2 lbs of flour? Thanks. Best recipe. Seems that there's a difference in this recipe from the first one shared example less yeast etc.

      Yup. No baking powder and less yeast etc used in this recipe.
      Normally what I do with the original recipe is directly double, triple or quadruple etc.
      My batter usually triples in size in one hour but if I don't use it...it drops. So it's strange about the 2 hour waiting time. And I use fremipan instant yeast.

      Too much yeast or baking powder. Decrease and you should be ok.

    I never knew phoulorie recipe doesn’t include split pease. That is a main ingredient . It’s an Indian national dish that they brought to the Caribbean and that’s how we learn to make it I am a Guyanese and flour phoulorie wouldn’t sell we would say it doesn’t taste like phoulorie.

      This recipe of phulauri is also new to me. I myself make phulauri from besan (chickpea flour) or from ground yellow peas. Any how phulauri bina chutney kaise bani by the late Sundar Popo.
