I am just so happy that Victoria decided to join you in the vlogs. You make such a great team and I love your humor and how you can laugh about your "basket failure". It is do refreshing and real!!
That was a lot of fun - I love the way you are both ‘what you see is what you get’ rather than trying to make out you are perfect at everything. Best channel on UA-cam as far as I am concerned 👍🏻🌟❤️
Your videos are the highest quality on YT. Your explanations are so detailed and thoughtful...love your team work. You have the Three Bears format: just right!! Happy Easter to you!
Definitely a baby fig: the leaf buds are pointed, not round. The first crop is known in English as the "breba" crop (name is from Italian) and grows on old wood in spring, the main crop is usually (depends on variety and growing conditions) the summer crop, which develops on new green growth and ripens in late summer or autumn. Centipedes can be your allies in the garden: like spiders, they are predators and will keep other invertebrates in check. I never kill them.
PS the chipped olive branches and leaves can also make good mulch for paths (to keep mud down) and gardens (to help retain moisture). Lots of chipped or mulched materials are good for that, but some are not if they contain lots of seeds for example, which olive branches and leaves will not. You could also mow your meadows with a catch bag (or rake after mowing) and compost the mowed material: it sort of achieves the same as grazing animals producing compost / dung.
No we don’t kill them either. Just relocate away from the house. We had thought about mulch for pathways but upon a bit of research turns out that they’re a huge fire risk so we’re not going to risk it
I live in a climate the same as yours but in Australia - high 30s and 40s in summer and with eucalypts all around. Fantastic you bought a chipper - I absolutely hate the idea of burning from an environmental point of view, but also a waste of such useful product. But olive branch chips will take a very long time to break down for compost - definitely best to use as a mulch between your beds and around fruit trees and will eventually break down and feed tge soil. Mulch won't pose a fire hazard unless fire is already on your property - so it would be the least of your worries. Maybe chip the branches separately for mulch and then chip the leafy tops for composting?
Your arm gesture reminds me of a character that used to be so proud of his muscles?? And would flex and say.. the bathroom is that way?? Maybe from SNL?
Victoria it's that ridiculous UA-cam Chef that salt his ribeyes with that hand motion. I found it very funny that Ricky did that but a guy to me is just absurd. It got a good laugh out of me though. Also I love you skipping in to introduce the new Mulcher. You both are so cute together. It makes me smile😊
You are a truper because you tried Victoria wih the basket weaving, well done great job's all around. Some people put the tools in between the walls of the compost and it is Richie black gold 👍😉🇮🇪☘️Eire
Yes a fruit. There are 2 kinds of fig trees. Unifer which produces figs around September on the wood of current year. Bifer wich produces 2 harvests per year, the first in July on the wood of the previous year and the second as the unifer. So the one you present in the video is a bifer.
Not sure if you guys have tried it again, since this is as far as I have made it in your videos so far… I am watching them from the first one until now, and then on to the rest, but… as weird as it sounds, my grandmother was a master basket weaver… haha If you soak the branches for a few days in water, it will make them far more flexible for you to use and less likely to break. Do not give up, try it again if you have not already. 🤗 Also, I love you guys videos… now on the watch the next one. 😁
I just watched this video and enjoyed it a lot. The pruning of your olive trees is done in a similar manner to how apple trees here in New England are pruned, something I’ve done many times. Pruning is essential to improve the productivity of the trees. I find pruning to be very satisfying and I hope you do as well. Thanks for the video.
What fun! Great work with the tote, the trimming of those unruly olive trees, the compost bin complex, the attempt at basket weaving----and failing at the puppy trust fall, lol. It was a hoot watching this episode and I left with a feeling of joy and contentment. Thank you for that!
That was a good attempt you were well on the way to making a hanging flower basket with holes for the plants. Dont give up. Its such a good idea. Love diy craft.
Great video Ricky and Victoria. It's nice that you can laugh when things don't go according to plan, but at least you tried. Thank you for sharing. I think you had baby figs on your tree. Take care
Gina & Ken : their dog/ pup was playing / eating There was a load of then marching in perfect line Their dog got very sick Maybe different species Take a look back at Ok Portugal about 9 mts ago?
Soak the shoots in water for a few hours, split them in half... There are simple tools made specifically for that type of task, that should help! ;-) And may I suggest you replace the word savage for something else... brutal, vicious, ferocious...
Hi Kelly. We do add the closed captions on every video. Others have had the same complaint in the past. We discovered that it’s always an issue just after the video has gone live. I think youtube is just a little slow on doing the translations etc. I’ve just checked & it’s all working 👍🏼
UA-cam takes care of the closed cations after the channel select the option. Other channels have had the issue and found out that UA-cam is responsible. They are quite slow. So please do not reprimand the channel owners . It's out of their hands.
Hi Victoria and Ricky, and all the animals , from here in Thailand I know it’s too late, but I would have taken your little centipede, put it in the car and drove it to the closest national park. Here on our little farm the centipedes are double that size, and one bit my wife while she was working in her garden. She spent the night in the hospital. Even one that size can cause you harm. All the locals here carry a machete , and you can guess what happens when they find one.
I was living and working in a guest house in Bangkok and felt something on my foot. Kicked it away and saw it was a huge centipede. I totally panicked but the local staff was like totally chill 😁
Wow that sounds super painful! We actually get quite a few of them here so they’re a fairly common sighting. We’re always careful when picking up stones etc in case they’re lurking underneath. I know they tend to bite when their habitat’s disturbed
Absolutely awesome….. I have a house in Indonesia….. in the rainy season wow….. the sound coming from our garden and jungle is amazing and smell is beautiful….. really for you guys 💥🎉🍺👍😘
I’ve made a basket with dogwood sticks. I softened them by flexing them over my knee so they curved more easily. Soaking them made them sprout in my case! There will be gaps unless you split the twigs in half and work very hard to tighten them up as you work. Who really cares if there are gaps anyway! Have fun!
Watching you both work together makes me quite wistful. My ex-wife was only ever interested in the end product, not in contributing to the effort getting there. It is really quite something to see you both mucking in and getting after it. Strength to your respective arms !
I love watching you, and love your youthful and pure energy. I had to laugh when I say the baby with the big hair on Ricky's sweater, and the less (hope I say that kind enough 😇) hair on Ricky's head. 😆 We need people with a healthy humor. Keep going the good work, and thank you for your time and effort to show it to us. BTW, with the chopper: it helps if you let the twigs and branches dry out a little bit. When the wood is too wet / fresh, the machine tends to suffocate itself.
I love how much fun you both seem to have whilst getting the land tasks done. Even those small chippers seem to do a great job, but like home office shredders, they need to take a break every so often to cool down the motor.
I absolutely love your chipper. You can make mulch as well. Fabulous, I'd love one myself. Haven't a clue what you're doing with your hands Ricky...give us a clue 😂😂. Fab video people, as ever.
Do you now think that you might have too many olive trees. Of course if you could get them so that they alternated the years in which they produce major crops that would be great.. Big congrats on all your work. I am now watching the videos in time sequence. Cheers
Good Sunday Morning to two of my favorite You Tube Friends. Watching from Kansas City, Missouri. Love your cute accent. Your property is looking lovely and you two always make it fun to watch and put a smile on my face. Thanks for all your hard work. See you next Sunday. God Bless.
Said it many times I think you are a wonderful couple and always make me smile with your uplifting videos. Victoria loved your attempt at basket making.. you will get there. Xxx
10 for effort Victoria you,l need plenty of baskets for all those olives. Those little shredders are brilliant mine is a slight variant to yours but its ideal for the job !! Great work good thinking on getting the IBC down to the veg patch !!
Love the wood chipper and I love what you did with the water tote and Victoria I think you did very well for a first time and trying to use olive wood. Have a great day.
I am just so happy that Victoria decided to join you in the vlogs. You make such a great team and I love your humor and how you can laugh about your "basket failure". It is do refreshing and real!!
Thanks Bettina ❤️
Love watching both of you working, laughing and enjoying life together! ❤
Haha Salt Bae ( the salt guy chef) imitation was really good 😅
Gorgeous Salt Man 😂
Ricky the Chef adding the seasoning .. LOL Epic
😁
Can't wait to see you guys work on the little stone house
that basket may serve as a base for a bird nesting if you place and secure it on a tree. They sure will appreciate it.
You two are so much fun to watch. I love the way you work together. I can't wait to see your gardening successes. It's a fig.
That was a lot of fun - I love the way you are both ‘what you see is what you get’ rather than trying to make out you are perfect at everything. Best channel on UA-cam as far as I am concerned 👍🏻🌟❤️
Cheers Ed! Appreciate the kind words & support 😊 Thanks for showing up & watching every week 👍🏼
Your videos are the highest quality on YT. Your explanations are so detailed and thoughtful...love your team work. You have the Three Bears format: just right!! Happy Easter to you!
Thanks Bobby! Appreciate the love ❤️
Lovely floors and sun hat
Victoria just gave one lucky bird a starter nest!!! ❣️👍🏻❣️ Love that wood chipper!👍🏻
A little time relaxing is good. A egg basket.
Yes Victoria is right.
I love you two so amazing!
I love your choice of music 🎶. I’m a jazz fan also.

@@lizschultz1 that’s not a bad idea 👍🏼
Your basket is a good base for a birds nest 😅 Soking is the key😊
Great vlog guys, cant help laughing when she wears that Paris T shirt, allways think Macron should be wearing it... 😂😂
Victoria you got the hang of it. It’s just the materials aren’t right. Cheers for trying.
Pallets are amazingly useful, good hard wood.
Ok, if that chipper last the entire summer then I’m a jockeys uncle 😂🤪
I love your vídeos.
If you brine the olives, try putting spicy peppers in them at the end. The flavor is amazing!
I would SO like to see how you've finished the interior of your house. I have looked and looked to try to see something.
Your arm gesture reminds me of a character that used to be so proud of his muscles?? And would flex and say.. the bathroom is that way?? Maybe from SNL?
Have a wonderful week
You too Cheryl ❤️
I enjoyed your videos so much. Youvare a nice couple.
So funny seeing the IBC "walk across the yard".
Critter is a centipede. Yucky thing.
I am guessing you are putting spices on gourmet food?
Victoria has the cutest giggle. Poppy wants to know if she can eat your basket?
It was a fig on that branch (I grew up with figs). You're so pleasant to watch.
You both are so loveable❤
Ricky, you looked like Jamie oliver seasoning his cooking there
It is a baby fig! You really work hard and your olive trees are amazing and very beautiful.
How funny was the basket !!! Maybe you can find a bird that needs a nest !!! Made me laugh and can't wait for your next attempt Victoria !!!
OK! with the Biggie hooded 😊
and if you don’t knooow now you know 😁
Your “basket” would make a good bird nest!
17:54; i would have said "The beach is that way" (points while flexing big gun) but the finger sprinkle move threw me...
Yes, definitely try soaking them.
Good idea!
Wife basket weaves with willow. Soaks hers overnight in water so it's more pliable when weaving.
No sooner has I typed it and Victoria said that same thing !
Great job!

New side hustle...weaving baskets 😂😂😂
I don’t think we could give them away! 😂

Victoria, your basket looks like a perfect bird nest 🐦😂
Hello Sharon ❤️ how are you doing today?
I think I understood a bit about the Portugal Homestead mention. Perhaps a legal status? Sounds like a good thing. Praying for an abundant harvest.
I just watched this video and enjoyed it a lot. The pruning of your olive trees is done in a similar manner to how apple trees here in New England are pruned, something I’ve done many times. Thanks for watching! It’s makes us so happy when people enjoy themselves watching us clown around! 😁
It looks like your compost bins have a lot of shade - maybe you can still change this - as compost production needs the sun and temperature
That was a good attempt you were well on the way to making a hanging flower basket with holes for the plants. Dont give up. Its such a good idea. Love diy craft.
Compost bins yea ❤
Great video Ricky and Victoria. It's nice that you can laugh when things don't go according to plan, but at least you tried. Thank you for sharing. I think you had baby figs on your tree. Take care
I think you’re right Yvonne. The figs have started to develop a bit more in the last few days
So cute love the honsety😂😊
Gina & Ken : their dog/ pup was playing / eating There was a load of then marching in perfect line
Their dog got very sick
Maybe different species
Take a look back at Ok Portugal about 9 mts ago?
Awesome show!! Great job Victoria with the basket!!
With the basketry, maybe soak them beforehand?
I think we’ll do that next time 👍🏼
I love joining you two and Victoria you do make me laugh, no prizes for the basket I'm afraid😂😂
But a prize for first try, yes?!❤️
Great try with the basket weaving next time ut will be great
One of each on the fig branch. The round is a fig....at least on my fig.
We also get scolopendra in our house here in France... definitely take them outside!
Soak the shoots in water for a few hours, split them in half... There are simple tools made specifically for that type of task, that should help! ;-)
And may I suggest you replace the word savage for something else... brutal, vicious, ferocious...
A beautiful life.
Please when filming for UA-cam add the close captions for the deaf. Thanks
Hi Kelly. We do add the closed captions on every video. Others have had the same complaint in the past. We discovered that it’s always an issue just after the video has gone live. I think youtube is just a little slow on doing the translations etc. I’ve just checked & it’s all working 👍🏼

Kelly, please don't think I'm being rude by asking. Have you clicked the closed caption toggle to turn CC on?
You guys are the best... you work so well together and I always get a laugh... Cheers for sharing...
Thanks for watching Sas 😊
Doggy kisses are the best!
You two are awesome. Big hug from Florida. Sincerely Grace
You can make a tea out of those olive leaves, full of antioxidants

I prefer the term “folically challenged” Ingrid 😁
nice episode
2 beautiful people ❤️
I love how much fun you both seem to have whilst getting the land tasks done. Even those small chippers seem to do a great job, but like home office shredders, they need to take a break every so often to cool down the motor.
You have to treat it like an employee & give it a break every so often! 😁
The olive trees pruned look great 👍🏻
Thanks Maria! Still lots more to do! 💪🏼
You two are such good fun to watch 😊
Thanks Gail! Glad you enjoyed the video 😊
Nice bird nest 🥰😂 you 2 are great fun! Tysm
I absolutely love your chipper. You can make mulch as well. Fabulous, I'd love one myself. Haven't a clue what you're doing with your hands Ricky...give us a clue 😂😂. Fab video people, as ever.
I had to google "salt bae" to understand (thanks to the person who commented originally, so I could find the meme.)
Ricky the chef is seasoning his compost pile

I really enjoyed the basket weaving actually, I am inspired to try and learn 😁
Seasoning the compost!! 😂
Great video as usual! You are both such a fun couple to watch! Thanks for keeping us all so interested in your lives!🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
Thanks as always Laurafor your kind words & support ❤️
You two are really fun to watch. Your videos are allways refreshing with your sense of humor, looking forward to next Sunday 😉.

Hello Gaynor how are you doing today?
I'm sure, it will be a fig.😀
Greetings from Germany.
Meet 'Salt Bae,' the Turkish Chef Whose Signature Move Made Him an Internet Sensation
Great job with so much joy! Thanks for sharing.
I’m in the Southern USA & we call those nasty things Thousand Leggers lol and yes, they sting/bite, whatever over here, too.
10 for effort Victoria you,l need plenty of baskets for all those olives. Those little shredders are brilliant mine is a slight variant to yours but its ideal for the job !! Great work good thinking on getting the IBC down to the veg patch !!
do not give up keep working on baskets it will get easier
Looking good
The cacao chef.
Love the wood chipper and I love what you did with the water tote and Victoria I think you did very well for a first time and trying to use olive wood. Have a great day.
