Fears from Devastating Flooding Keeps Us Awake and Awaiting - The Realities of Van Life

- Van Life doesn't always look like this pretty picture. As we explore the Alps of Slovenia we are inspired by the beauty of this country. Even with overcast skies and scattered rain the place is captivating. But as we head up towards Logar Valley, winding through a mountain pass and along a river that devastated this valley last year, we are reminded of the power and fury that the nature can unleash as we drive past remnants of roads, bridges and houses washed away in last years flood. Shortly after we parked a giant storm hit and we found ourselves worried about rising rivers. We are also on a quest to see and to show you the most photographed spot and arguably the most beautiful spot in Slovenia. Will the rain ever stop and will the clouds ever clear. It took a lot more to get this photo than one would think.

What a gorgeous valley surrounded by such beautiful mountains. Your photography was outstanding. That mushroom was fascinating to see but when it comes to eating them, I stay away from all wild mushrooms. There have been too many stories of people taking chances of eating what they thought was a safe mushroom and ended up either very sick or dead. 😱

I second that. Foreigners in Germany have foraged mushrooms. They were certain to know what they were doing. But our poisonous mushrooms looked exactly like the good ones they knew from home.

Wow that's so beautiful! I would absolutely love to be able to walk up a trail to find a waterfall just around the bend on an awesome lil trail like you're doing. Snow, I'm so proud of how far you've come from being flat on your back to climbing trails. Curt, we all get out of breath at times and hiking will make you breathe harder but at least you're getting back in shape and doing what you need to do for your health. I myself didn't realize that I was as sick as I was and just figured it was covid again. Nope it was RSV and a bone infection that was so bad that I lost my leg up to past my knee. I had no idea because I was in a coma. My son found me just in time. I was in a coma for 2 weeks and woke up to an entirely different life. For anyone reading this: don't hesitate to get medical help if you're sick. Your body is telling you that you need help and you should get it ASAP. Curt and Snow, ya'll rock those trails and take a break as soon as you feel like it. Happy trails and safe travels!
What an absolutely horrid, life-changing medical event! I'm so glad that your son found you in time, and that you lived through it. It shows how important it is to check in with one another on a regular basis, especially if someone is ill. Sometimes, if we are too sick, we can drift into a mental state where we no longer can make good decisions for ourselves. It sounds as if you're a survivor and have a very positive attitude. I'm glad you can take such pleasure in Snow and Court's adventures. Living with a disability myself, I can certainly relate to traveling vicariously. Take care!

Lots of beautiful wildflowers. One that you gave a close up of while Snow was talking , was the unusual Turtlehead flower( Chelone Lyonii ). During G’s walk I saw yellow buttercups, blue salvia and possibly violets along the path.

In time to see the beautiful mountains. I'm praying for at least 50 thousand more subscribers. I remember the flood you were in, I held my breath when your van went through so much water and tried to tip over... That took my breath way!

I truly enjoy the kitties walks (I'm binge watching so this sb one back). Miss Vanna seems to be an intripid explorer for being Siamese and G always delights me when he gets his fresh grass. Just get a twofer when I watch...stunning views and 😻.

Those are Scottish Highland Cattle. We use to live on a 300 acre ranch up in the mountains of Montana, that they would bring 80 head of them there to summer pasture. They had three big bulls that we had a healthy respect for as they were huge! This area reminds me of pics I've seen of Germany. Absolutely beautiful for sure!!! Glad to see you getting to hike this stunning area!!!❤
