this album really blew me away like gawdamn i love how every song has its own identity but it all follows relatively the same thing and its just amazing. And coming from someone that never really liked Invent Animate all that much the new album is PHENOMINAL and totally made me change my mind about them, there really is a reason so many people are calling it AOTY, because its in my top 3 and thats saying a lot
Invent Animate, Currents and now Silent Planet. Thats my top 3, but cant decide the order for now. 2023 was a prolific year. And I couldnt agree more about IA. I was not really digging their sound until Heavener. But I still have some issues with the "high pitched" vocals, too "cringy" for me (like I was still 15 and listening to Blessthefall or something). And until this album, SP was i nthe same situation imo. Even tho I really loved Iridescent, like really. I think the fact the clean singer left the band played a role in me liking their sound even more.
God the super ambient screeching synth like guitar parts in this 😮, you can hear how much Buster was inspired by No Oath with this mix, i knew from when he posted a No Oath song on his insta that his production would be evolving further, its amazing as fuck and keeps getting better. This album is awesome and this band is awesome with these ideas combining that club like rave sound with these heavy ass pieces
@@coreyclip1I agree, hes said in an interview that he really doesnt get tired of music, hes either in the studio or the gym or playing Dota 2 haha… love him
@@coreyclip1but yea specifically those screechy ambient guitar parts in Nexus like :23 in hit SO HARD that shit is magnificent, they way it fills the soundscape with headphones is just 😍 ive been dying to hear more of that sound since no oath and here it is
I feel like this one tops heavener. Hard to explain why but the atmosphere feels much deeper, and the songs hold a lil more weight to me. Also I love invent animate but I hate how they always burry their vocals in the mix
@@buffsenpaigaming2703 Agreed. What I would add, is that personnaly I have a hard time with clean vocals being to "cringy". Like I am 15 and still listening to Blessthefall/any emo band. No matter how perfect the instrumental is. That's one of IA problem as far as i'm concerned. That was also SP issues until right now.
@@mimmim13aiv I feel that. A good clean vocal can be amazing but not every singer in the rock scene is trained and often most singers sing too “nasal” and it doesn’t match the bravado the rest of the music had leading up into that part. They need to sing things with their chest more like when the screamer screams. That fits the vibe much more. But softer vocals can be great too when done correctly. Really just has to match the vibe of the music and lyrics well and not feel out of place
@@mimmim13aiv then again ladies love the sparkly highs when singers like IA sing and maybe the band is tryna keep more of their female listeners engaged 😂🤷🏾♂️. Tbh bands are much more successful when young women like their music. But also I don’t believe everything gotta be extra extra tough sounding to not make me feel soft for listening haha. Sometimes I feel being overly angry in a song is unnecessary, depending on the message or the amount of songs that are like that from one band. Like trying to be too heavy for the sake of it just gets old to me. Sometimes I just need a deeper reason for that kind of sound
@@coreyclip1 for sure on that, but in nexus they refer to "everything was sound" and the first song off that album "inherit the earth". I always pay attention to lyrics when it comes to SP. Garret is one of the best lyricists in the entire genre imo
I noticed that callback off rip haha! I’ve listened to their entire discography and that part made me so happy lol, didn’t even need to read the lyrics haha
On annunaki when the final breakdown hits, he says “I am retribu…TIOOOOOOON” and that makes it hit so hard haha
The pitch-shifty parts on superbloom gave me mad c418 mellohi vibes, what a banger climax to the album.

Definitely need to give Heavener a proper listen

Buster continues to impress with everything he does. I'd go as far as to say he's the greatest musical mind of our time

Never really got into their older stuff but this new album got me real good
This Album or Invent Animate- Heavener will Album of the year 2023. Both are really good🤟🤟🤟
Oh yeesss! AOTY contender for me and i tend to dislike a lot of prog.

Did you notice the callbacks in nexus? This album is something else man. Gonna be real hard to pick an AOTY
Lyrically? I'm gonna be honest it usually takes me a few listens of an album before they lyrics really sink in
