Story Time: My Labour & Delivery Experience

- Hi my lovelies, so I finally filmed my much requested Labour and Delivery story! I didn't do this when I had Noah so I have done a quick recap in this video of what happened with the birth of my first son and then gone into detail about the second labour and delivery. I apologize in advance if there are bits missing or if it feels slightly all over the place, its been 6 weeks since I gave birth and the human body has a way of making you forget what happened (so that you go and have more babies! lo ) But if you have any questions or feel like there is something I've missed then please let me know below and I'll be happy to answer it. I'll be filming a video answering your questions about life with 2 kids under 2 pretty soon so keep an eye out for that as well :)

Thank you for this video sis. Our first baby is due in 9 weeks insha Allah and I’ve been worrying about labour & delivery. It’s helped me calm down a bit, will keep the tips on breathing, pain relief, etc to hand!
I had my baby on the first of January, he is my third. I would really recommend being upright during contractions too. I literally only got on the bed for the pushing stage. I'd also recommend doing the pushing stage upright on the bed rather than lying down. It makes it abit easier and you're also less likely to tear.
Try and walk as much as you can from now, in sha allah allah make it easy for you x
Thank you Aisha N for your advice. 😊 it’s much appreciated. I think the stories i’ve heard about tearing and “ring of fire” have made me nervous but there’s always just as many successful & routine birth stories.
Midwifes are superwoman how much they help you mentally and physically is unbelievable may allah bless all of them ❤️❤️

Seriosly amazing story reminds me of my pregnancy was an experience i was ready for a natural birth but due to my babys drop of heartbeat and in the same way as urs the button was pressed and all the doctors came over i was only 1 cm dilated i was then rushed to the operarion theatre and i had a emergancy c section my baby was taken out in literlay 2 mins due ti her being at risk she was tangled from top to bottom in ambilical cord it was strange as i was not getting any labour pains even after being induced twice and having waterbreak done and also the hormone drip and that then being increased but contractions were nowhere to be felt and i felt like when eill this baby come was totaly exhausted but alhamdulillah now my daughter is 2 months and i am actualy missing those days!
Totally agree about the contraction pain.
I had my little one in July and I went into early non existent labour as they say since Thursday bloody hurt ! And went into real labour Sunday early morning gave birth in the afternoon Sunday !!!!
Gas and air and moving around and bouncing helped so much sitting down was the worst!

This made me emotional and took me right back to when I had my daughter, experienced the same thing is called shoulder dystocia am glad your son is okay because they damaged my daughter nerves on the neck which resulted her to have erbs palsy.

I love what you said about wearing a a hajib (? Sorry if that’s the wrong spelling) I worked with the Ambulance service for a wile, when I was training I was with an all male team, (so there were 2 men and me working, this was only my 3rd sift) we were sent as back up to a Muslim lady in pre term labour when we arrived the team we were backing up were out the front being denied access to the patient. The other team explained that the husband and mother in law would not give them access to the patient as they were male, and had requested a team with a female, and we were the only team available.
So I was the only one alameda into the room to assess her, we were able to arrange that me and the training officer could communicate using mobiles.
It worked out well we got her to the hospital (5 minutes) before she gave berth, the mother in Law traveled with us (she had more experience then me, she’d had 8 children, I was 22 and not a mother. After the birth mother in law asked my what what my name meant I told it meant child of Christ, and said offhandedly that it was a good fit as I was a Christian and ended with “may Alla continue bless your family”. She booked at me and questioned my use of Alla, I told her that God had many names and Alla was one. As we were leaving the farther approached me and asked if I was ok eith them using the Muslim name with the same meaning as mine (can’t remember what it was - this was over 20 years a go now, but the meaning was child of Muhammad) I was overwhelmed and said yes. He also thanked me for the care and understanding I had given his wife given my religion, I parted saying I was always told we are all children of the same farther in heaven.
My first child it was horrific and had emergency c section and it was 10 months ago and now i found out iam pregnant with second one i hope everything goes well

I love the gas and air. I had it while I was in hospital after my skin graft surgery
I’m expecting with my first baby and watching this has given me so much strength and think that us women are superwomen our bodies go through so much and it’s like us woman face death whilst in labour and come back subhnallah
That's interesting, in my experience contractions were way worse when I stood up, laying down was better and of course the birthing pool was a real jem, it reduced the pain by around 40%

I went from going to have my baby in the birthing centre to suddenly being switched to labour ward due to internal bleeding of the placenta. Speaking from personal experience - anyone on a labour ward that needs the heart beat and contraction monitor straps - do not stay on the bed. It is your own choice, they can't force you to stay still. Push to say you want to walk around and they will keep coming and adjusting the straps for you as that is their job - to assist you with YOUR labour plan, not theirs.
I had a drip to start labour, and didn’t use any pain relief. I think if you try you can do it with out pain relief.
It surely is something amazing to do
I had a horrible c Section when I was already having contractions and being artficially induced ..I get scared thinking even of second baby

Do you get back pain with epidural
sabrinacoolest I had epidural and have had severe back pain and when I lay down feel crushing back pain like ten tons is on my back, that’s only my experience I don’t know for others!!

Unfortunately all 3 times I had to be induced, with the first, third and fourth child I was induced and had epidural in two pregnancies which I regret deeply as I’ve had a lot of back problems since, I had water birth with the second without any pain relief but wouldn’t recommend to go without pain relief!!!

How do you get the epidural from the male anesthesiologist? Do you wear your hijab still or are you not wearing it at this point? I'm curious as I'm going to give birth in June inshallah and all the midwives are female here in Sweden but the anesthesiologists are male, so I'm wondering how to dress!
Sinead Evans hey lovely, I’ll be honest, they have to see your back to able to administer it. So I had the hospital gown on which covered all my front and legs, and I was sat down and the gown pushed to the back so he could get access to and see my back. I didn’t have my scarf on either because at the point I was really in too much pain to remember, but it’s easy to keep everything else covered but yuh will have to be exposed from the back

If there is no other doctor it’s fine. Allah swt is merciful the creator doesn’t want you dying or in pain as you wait for a woman dr that may not show up. If the female is readily available or the situation is not diar than wait for a Woman otherwise do what u have to in order to care for yourself

Im new to your channel great video! I'm so scared to give birth I suffer from anxiety which doesn't help. lots of great tips to take in. My doctor suggested to get a csection because i am generally a very anxious person. Any advice on this would be really great. Congratulations on your new baby.
