  • Spring is nearly here, and I've acquired some newbies for the garden. Now that most of my statement plants are in situ, variety is the name of the game this year.

Hi, I love your plants. Just be careful of rex it can run all over your garden. If the roots are cut, and if you're planting next to it.

Hi there, thanks so much - I’m very grateful for this advice. I have one already planted and have gained a couple of pups this year. I plan to keep them controlled or to pot them on for sale. They’re a popular plant indeed despite how rogue they can be. Thanks for watching!😊

Hi, thanks for your lovely feedback. I’m still really chuffed with these latest purchases and the loquat was definitely worth the wait! Not heard of Jo’s tropicals, but I’m going to check him out right now. Grateful for the recommendation! Enjoy your princeps!

Yes! The mild temps have been kind. Still keeping my eye on the forecast though for the usual UK weather surprises ☺️

Hi there! Big Plant as a local is a NICE spot to be in☺️ I’d love to visit their nursery. I’ve been a customer of theirs for a while. Always quality plants and packaged well. The giant taro is just gorgeous. Hope you manage to get one. Looking forward to the warmer weather too so that I can spend a bit longer out there🙌

Really enjoyed this video, particularly interesting to see where you sourced the plants. I got my Loquat(which i love) as a 5ft standard from the same supplier, had a few issues with mildew on the stems upon arrival but largely cleared now. They root very shallow even after a couple of years so mine got blown over 45 degrees and i had to replant and use a heavy stake to keep it secure. Olive tree is on my list as a patio specimen at some point. Looking forward to spring!

Hello! Thanks so much for sharing - great to know you used the same supplier for the Locquat too - you can't beat personal recommendations when choosing where to buy. I wasn't sure what to expect, but was pleased with what came through. Yes, some of my stems could do with some love too, but it's minor from what I can see. Thank you for the heads up around the rooting - I have a sheltered spot in mind where it should be all good. Hopefully you'll be able to grab an olive tree but by all means, shop around. They cost more in the DIY stores than the local nurseries. Looking forward to seeing mine backlit by gorgeous sunshine! 🪴

Looking forward to seeing how the schefflera does - I lost a s. taiwaniana to stem rot and haven't dared try agajn since, but that alpina looks great!

Ahhh mate, sorry about the schefflera taiwaniana! I've pretty much left mine to do it's thing. It didn't even moan on being moved. Hopefully this wet cold weather won't bother it too much. I'll provide alpina updates on here ☺🪴

Fantastic! The alpina? Or another variety? I’ve found the taiwaniana to be very hardy and reliable. Looking forward to trying out a few more.

Love it, hows your Butia fared over the winter, mines been completely fine unprotected
my waggie has been absolutely fine too despite the flooding of the little circle border its in, I might have to do a small raised bed where it currently is.

Hey😊! My Butia has done well, I fleeced it during the hard frost but uncovered it when the weather got milder. No damage that I can see just yet. Not sure how it will do with all the rain we are having but hopefully it will pull through. I believe they get hardier the more established they are. My waggie is as tough as old boots. Nothing moves it. Couple old fronds to remove but it looks well. Currently in a 70L pot so I keep thinking I’ll need to repot, but I’ll monitor it. Lovely to hear from you. Keep growing!🌿🌿
