After 10 months (and what felt like a lifetime) in Mexico, we finally crossed the border into Belize-and let’s just say, we weren’t prepared for how different it would feel! From Caribbean vibes to unexpected adventures, Belize immediately surprised us in the best way.
In this video, we share our first impressions of the country, from navigating the border crossing (fumigation fees and all) to exploring wildlife sanctuaries, ancient ruins, and local markets. Plus, things didn’t go quite as planned-Kramer got sick, leading to an unexpected detour in Belize City. But even with the challenges, Belize left a lasting impression, and we know we’ll be back.

I have travelled to Belize numerous times over the years and when telling a border official this he said to me, "Welcome home brudder. " So sweet that they said Kramer was a Belizean dog now. Like I said in your video on Mexico, the people are what makes a country and the people of Belize are amazing and top notch. If any Belizeans read this, I love you and your country.

Hey guys. Hope you enjoy your stay in my beautiful country. We were a British Colony until 1981. Thus the Caribbean look and sound. The Spanish influence became more dominant in the 70's and 80', when Belize accepted refugees from various Central American wars. We are now considered Central American and Caribbean, since the Caribbean Sea touches our entire east coast. Hope this helps.👍👍😁😁

Thank you for showing us Belize. 30 + years ago my friend went on a missions trip to Belize I believe it wasn’t a popular spot then. Well she came back with the most amazing stories. Hey chris here same name 😊 yess belize is awsome and a lot to see and do. we have a big race comming up on march 7th to 10th 4 days from cayo to belize. amazing time as a racer and a bartender that has been in the tourism industry for a long time now i can say there is a lot more for you guys to see and do. So yes, rice and beans is when they are both cooked together, whereas rice with beans, they are cooked separately and the beans is just put on top of the rice.❤

It was a parasite. They don't know where he picked it up from. It could have been anything from eating a leaf to sniffing something wrong 🙃
@@chrisandsara Kramer looks about exactly the same size (or slightly bigger) as our poodle. We'd like to bring her in the cabin on the plane when we fly to South America but she's a tinge over the allowed height and length specified but I think there's a little 'wiggle room' with that. Any idea what Kramer's height and length is? And what carrier are you using for him on the plane? I really appreciate your time in answering me!

You can find reasonable rooms to rent on the island the resorts are expensive unless your with a belizean taking you around and can get the discount prices.

One thing about Belize City is the violence that happens in the city, but, of what I observed everyday, I see a lot of tourists walking about in the city just to have more experiences Also please be careful on those highways, especially the western highway because traffic accidents and incidents are happening almost everyday but every week, and it mostly include cars and motorcycles. One fact, about belize is that Belize is one of the top friendliest country in the world.
Everyone was so friendly there…and happy!

Question for you too. I've been thinking about driving to Mexico but I'm concerned about the cartel. How did you handle that?
We were completely safe and never experienced any cartel. Drive during the day, take the toll roads, and you’ll be fine.
It would be good to not let Kramer drink out of water sources like rivers and lakes when you don't know what is upstream.

Belize was amazingly wild when I lived there many years ago... There is something for everyone in this small country. I am currently in Mexico but would really like to see how the country has changed over the last decades. I lived in the middle of the jungle for 3 months of my stay there and those were the most memorable due to looking for Crocodiles, lizards, snakes, and of course going on midnight Tarantula hunting to find the largest possible Tarantulas! Jungle sounds at night were sometimes chilling but usually explained. we had an Owl that perched on a pole near our thatch-roofed hut and kept watch for mice and other night creatures. the stories.... you had to be there. Words cannot describe. yeah... San Pedro shouldn't be missed. but you have priorities!
This makes us so excited to go back to Belize! We barely scratched the service.

And where did you enter the country of Mexico from? I was told that you have to pay the cartel off. Is that true?
We entered just north of Bacalar. No cartel gangs in the Yucatan
