All-New Mercedes-Benz E-Class review // Traditional with a twist

- Опубліковано 23 лип 2023
- This is a Motormouth couple car review of the all-new 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class, a traditional luxury mid-size sedan.
The Mercedes E-Class has been around for more than 75 years and Mercedes-Benz has released an all new model for 2024. The E 350 and the E 450 will arrive at the beginning of next year.
The 2023 Mercedes-Benz E 350 has a 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder with a 48-volt mild hybrid system, it gets a combined 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.
The 2023 Mercedes-Benz E 450, a 3L turbocharged inline-six with the same mild hybrid system, a combined 375 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Both have a 9-speed automatic transmission and standard AWD.
In comparison to the previous model, the Mercedes-Benz E 350 has the same horsepower but now gets an extra 22 lb-ft of torque. The Mercedes-BenzE 450 on the other hand has the same torque, but an 13 extra horsepower.
The new 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan is a little bit longer and wider than the outgoing model and the wheelbase is almost an inch longer. It has a little more headroom and rear seat knee room has increased by just under half an inch and legroom by over half an inch. The trunk space has not changed, the E-Class sedan still offers 19 cubic feet of space, same as the outgoing model.
The interior of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is very modern and full of new technology. It looks similar to the new Hyperscreen we see in S-Class models, but it is slightly different and unique in its own way. It’s called the MBUX Superscreen and the centre console screen looks like it’s floating on the dash.
You’ll notice the digital driver display is detached and the passenger screen is an optional feature. If you don’t get the passenger screen, a large trim element extends to the centre. The tech is impressive, and you can even choose between sporty and a classic style on the screen. A new compatibility layer allows you to install third party apps and there’s a selfie camera.

Andrea, you make the car look like it’s worth millions!
I have a 2014 E250 Bluetec Diesel with 105K on it and the car is still so smooth and works wonderfully! I have toyed with getting a Tesla or another electric car, but the E-Class is hard to give up. Great video as always folks!
Great video as always. The way companies like Mercedes Benz give you guys early access to such vehicles says a lot about how big you guys have gotten in such a short time. Keep up the amazing work!
Thank you very much, we really appreciate the kind words.
I found him for help and guidance on telegramx.
Great review as always. I’m sure they have always been great, but the “drive-bys” where so beautifully shot. Really great camera work in general.
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
Andrea is amazing! Zack is a lucky guy to have such a great partner who really knows her stuff!!!
LOL
Gorgeous car. Benz will always be the benchmark of the auto industry. Thanks for the video.
Right on! But you always gonna hear hard working Americans who can't afford the maintenance would come on here shamelessly trying to Compare their bouncy poor handling underperformed Mercedes mimic Lexus to Benz. Overall Mercedes is way ahead of any Japanese vehicle
E CLASS never fails to impress! and WOW ya'll went to AUSTRIA for this REVIEW! LOVE your dynamic reviews! I remember when the channel first started! honestly the E class looks GREAT!
Dream car, with the more powerful engine choice. 😊
Thanks for the review. I have a 2014 E250 (their 4 cylinder diesel) and have been loving it for over 9 years with no issues at all. It’s been rock solid. Love to see the new one, just wish we could get another diesel in Canada!
Wow, amazing review :) Well done and congrats on the early access :)
Thank you so much!
Inline 6 😩 What a beautiful car
How that hell we don’t have this yet in USA
Nice. Which Color was the testet e Class ? And what size of Rims ?
Love it. Makes me want to upgrade from my 2022 C Class with just 7K miles.
You guys are so smooth. Thanks for the review 7:29
Perfectly balanced styling, and a perfect size. I’d take an E-Class over an A6 or the 5-Series any day. Especially as an estate car. But I still agree about those flush door handles… Why did we need these (potentially problematic handles) when current and/or past door handles actually work and look great? Thanks for the video.
Problematic door handles equals $$$ for the service department 😅
Exactly. $$$… Great way of explaining the problem.
Flush handles is cheap way to gain added MPGs. Problem is they’re horrendous from a practical standpoint
Another great review !
Glad you enjoyed it!
As an owner of both GLE suv and E Class Sedan, I always prefer driving the sedan.
excellent review
What's your impression on the W212 which is the E350 model from 2010 to 2016?
Love this new design!
Great Review. How do you like this compared to the 2024 BMW 5 Series?
It's a beautiful design and it's going to the future with the beautiful details of Mercedes, and the most beautiful of this beautiful video and information, greetings to you from Jordan Middle East 🇯🇴 Mercedes will remain luxury, technology, speed and the best ever
Visible pixels in the super screen?
It’s really MB’s entry level car.
No traditional, long time MB buyer takes the C Class seriously.
So…..the C63 shouldn’t be taken seriously …..? As a long time Benzophile… you are speaking silly talk.
If so I think that changes with the new C class, it has real road presence.
My son is now driving the 2012 E350 I bought new, it has 147,000 miles with no issues whatsoever !!
Do you happen to know which market/s will get the Elegance version?
Very smooth I like it
We have a 2013 year model and as luxurious as it looks, this one is on another level 🎉. No spare tire tho?
too bad local dealers have such limited inventory. my local deal had 1 c and 1 e and 2 GLB. More plug ins than ice. great vid
One question, did you guys record this in-car video using the on-dash camera that comes with the car, or selfie camera as they call it?
That cinnamon brown interior looks amazing 😍
I’ll keep my 2014 E250 that still gets over 1100km per tank. Hybrid diesel would be interesting though! As always, great review. ❤
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
Love diesel too
Looks like a nice car but I wonder whether sedans are nearing the end as crossovers seem to be much more practical.
I have never considered a MB product. You may have changed my mind. Great review. Thank you
They are putting out some great vehicles. While I don't love the look of the new EQ line, these gas models we recently drove are very good. Mercedes-Benz is definitely focusing on refinement, a quiet cabin and a smooth ride which I feel will appeal to many.
Have you heard anything about the Mercedes CLE that’s coming? It looks so nice and kind of reminds me of an updated fancier CLK
I’ve always liked the CLS over current e-class but wow this looks great! Love the tail lights and modern interior. A similarly updated GLE would be even better.
too bad they're killing the cls. Im sure it will make its return sometime around or after the 6 comes back from bmw.
I love the CLS!!!
Sunny Austria 🇦🇹 and driving this mega smooth Mercedes E-Class! 😎
4:35 and 4:49 Interesting shot/visuals. You can clearly see the Maybach-ish architecture.
Great Review and you both add good up. For the Benz i Note 10 out of 10 possible Pointe.
thanks
It looks like a dream this car
My favs
Haha love you guys, but I didn't know "partively" was even a word until now. 😁
Does this vehicle have massaging seats ? If not is that a option?
The car looks great and the technology is great. Can't wait to see it in person and test drive it. Macchiato Beige interior looks amazing. That is the color I would get for the interior. Would probably get white or black for the exterior. Also I am interested in the AMG 53 sedan. Would like to know the horsepower and torque of that car.
What e exactly rly do you mean by. 48v mild hybrid system?
Thanks!
Wow thank you!
Other than the billboard screens now filling this car, what does this E class do better than the one from 2011? At least the 2011 had the V8 sound.
Mercedes Benz cleaned up really nicely with the look of this new E-class. Exterior and interior both look upper class, like its bigger brother the S-class, and a peppy, exciting combustion engine even in the present world of EVs! I hope this car stays around for a while and can add this to my garage at some point in the future :)
You and your husband produce a great channel.
Thank you.
RS. Canada
😊 thank you
The Australian roads are smooth as Andrea 😎
May have a great ride, but that interior is a distraction and gloss black fantastic nightmare. Mercedes is not the brand it used to be
Right, I love the previous interior an gadgets. They’re gone, now. Happily, I got my A45S on time 2 years ago.
Zach, saw you fueling your Porsche at Chevron in Blaine! Probably heading out for Jays game huh! Or a Swiftie! Next time refuel at exit 260, best price in town! I work in Bellingham but live in South Surrey so it’s a daily commute with my GLA45 AMG!Great review as always. Always looking for your reviews!
Yes Zack and our son Jack went to see the Jay's play. 👌
Yes, that was us. We tried filling up at that location on the way back but too long a line, I won't line up to save a few bucks, already cheaper than Canada!
You guys are the best! Been watching Zach for 20 years now 😂 I’m always looking forward to both of you and Andrea’s car reviews!
What’s the predicted depreciation?
That IS a pretty impressive 0-60, considering the heat and multiple runs.
Andrea you shining as usual, kudos to Zach who stole your heart. Love you both
💯 They're great together.
Will the E-Class, 2 door coupe be updated as well?
Yes, it is now called the CLE, replacing the C and E class coupe. Look on-line
E클 너무 멋져
This car is inside out new !!!
One of my favourites! This still retains its classical elegance while looking modern! Glad that Mercedes hasnt gone the BMW way and messed up the looks just to "appear modern"!
I 100% agree with Zack. Give me normal door handle's.
New design is simply gaudy. Don't think people that love the pre W213 models would like this one.
Is there a " spare /donut " ??
The top selling imported vehicle here in Korea is the E Class, despite its' hefty price. Some people still want sedans.
I thought Beamers always outsell MB in Korea?
@@manofsesame3024 As a brand, I'm not sure. It's close. But I know for certain (it was in the news) that the E Class is the top selling imported vehicle in Korea.
@@johnholst is it just for some specific model years or accumulated period?
@@manofsesame3024 It was for 2022 and again so far in 2023.
@@johnholst the last time I visited Korea in 2015 I saw so many Audi A6s on the roads. A6 is very rare here in Alberta Canada. We do have plenty of A4 and Q5 here but I don’t remember the last time I saw an A6 here. Seems the Koreans really like the large Sedans like E class and A6 😂
I would love an EV version of this vehicle.
Can’t say I like the EQE so much.
Nice classy car with a wall to wall dashboard touchscreen is awesome. I laughed you mentioned about a game called angry bird. I haven’t played them for a long time. I almost thought you going to say candy crush. 😆 Great video Andrea! 👍🏻👍🏻 ☕️ ☕️
Lol! I was thinking Candy Crush too, so addictive!
@@andreaspencer9813 Yes it is an addictive. 😆
An E Class is probably my next car. I really wish they would bring over the phev. That would be my first choice.
Beautiful car but without buttons - they will be without my order.
As a Merc. owner [E350 Coupe] for 10 years I say read Consumer Reports to see how low the rate this brand: near the bottom of the pack for reliabilty
For the competition, there is a new 5 series that was announced. The picture shown is the current version, soon to be the previous one.
Good
As a current E400 coupe driver (28yo) & tech enthusiast, I still prefer the w213 generation. The screens are just a gimmick that don't add real value over the previous gen. Though, I am very relieved to hear that MB used soft-touch unlike in their other recent cars (C and EQ).
12:07 19 cubic feet?! That's huge. Definitely don't need to get a crossover with that size of trunk.
I don't like the racoon/Hamburglar black out front end. They need to fix that in the refresh .
So say I !
Andrea is a very stunning woman. And definitely elevates the look of luxury vehicles 🙂
That is a very sexist comment in todays woke world. But she has got a great figure
For the price, it SHOULD be great! ! !
As an owner of the 2022 E450 All-Terrain (wagon) with the same mild-hybrid and the Inline-6, this model is certainly a bit of an improvement over the 2021-2023 versions.
Looks-wise, I like the new version a lot more. However, if they had come out with the “L” (long wheelbase) version of the E-class that they sell in some markets like China and India etc., it would have been a lot more attractive to me. As it stands, it does not go far enough, from a ground-up re-design perspective. Not really a bad thing, but this is more of the same.
keep the wagon, that will be collectable...
@@Motormouth... So i guess it’s official we won’t get the wagon in Canada?
@@Math-zl8kq Nope, dead
@@Motormouth... I am based in the US, where they are coming back with the All-Terrain for 2024, but yes, I am certainly not letting my wagon go ! 🙂
Haters will always hate! Never mind, they haven’t driven the car.. but want to impose their opinions.😏
It probably just me but when it comes on to true luxurious feel and look of a vehicle, i would choose a sedon over a SUV any day .
No spare tire??
Zach, did you say the Volvo S90 “with a V6”? In North America the S60 has a 4 cyl with a mild hybrid or the PHEV 4 cyl.
T6 engine
@@Motormouth... T6 is a 4 cyl with supercharger and turbocharger
@@stamolagoutis9377 yes, correct
@@stamolagoutis9377 T6 not V6
Thanks for this video excellent as always. Indeed, a beautiful car , MB made a better job with E Class than with the new GLC nicely presented recently by you. Austria ? Hope you had a great time there.....not only snitzel and Tafelspitz . Clearly austrian roads are not relevant for the behaviour of the car on Canadian streets with potholes. .
Definitely shopping for a sedan over an SUV. I’ve had enough SUV’s for one lifetime.
As A European I’d go with the diesel or petrol PHEV E class over the EQE based on looks and maybe most importantly, I want soft touch plastics everywhere in my Mercedes Benz.
Wish i could get an engine without turbos.
7 months since this review and still no configuration on the Mercedes Canadian website, still no examples in the showroom. What's up with that?
It always amazes me how clean it is in Europe. Compared to the dump the US has become
Woahhh super nice interior! First lol!!
We really enjoyed driving it and the Superscreen is well done.
Mercedes should change the exhaust tips and make it look like the mercedes logo in tail lights
Prefer the previous gen interior design. The outside looks nicer though.
This looks better than the 5
Only one gripe, I’d like to see the return of matte black window and memory seat switch gear. The ugly command wheel and touch bulge has gone, replaced by a neat flat trackpad. And the exterior has improved, though I’d like to see the sharp crease lines of the old model reappear, because that precision shows quality workmanship, not simple metal pressing. Oh, a final gripe, make a grey headliner an option on AMG models. That dark interior puts me off all AMG variants. But overall Mercedes are back on form, design wise, leading the pack.
Perhaps more E-class would be sold in North America if it was as nice as those sold in China. The wheelbase of the 2024 E-Class "L" sold in China will be 143 mm (5.6 inches) longer than that of the standard E-class with all the additional length devoted to rear seat leg room. The Chinese market E-Class also gets some rear seat amenities from the S-Class. Canada gets full functionality of the E-Class matrix headlights with beam shaping but the U.S. market E-Class matrix headlights will continue to operate as traditional high and low beams. It's the same situation for the new HD-Matrix Design LED Headlights on the 2024 Porsche Cayenne - still only traditional high and low beams for the U.S. but full functionality for Canada.
It looks better in "real life". The original images released looked odd
The front looks like a Genesis...It needs the MB upright standing star on the bonnet to look like a Mercedes Benz.
I’m looking to replace my vehicle. It’s going to either be the new 5 series, this E class or the Audi A6 Allroad
All really nice choices!
It would be interesting to compare this to the new 5 series.
OK...Motormouth I've got a question....wow such beautiful lines of this E Class, nice and smooth and so awesome. You go around the car, a beautiful masterpiece...then you look inside and some engineer from Elmer Fudds college puts the computers and such just sticks it on top of the steering column......................NO. I never thought I would choose an Audi over a Mercedes, but for 2024, Audi wins hands down.
ONLY DAT BIG BOY !! A S. CLASSIC
