It's not normal, it's supposed to save the calibration information to the firmware to prevent that from being required. If you're having that issue, I'd definitely report it to Andy at Ultimarc and see what he thinks. :-)
I had come to your page a few times man, and I swear I was looking for a way on a newer video of yours to message you about light guns, LOL. Specifically using the Wii motion bars and the dolphin bar. I have it set up now on my arcade that runs launchbox. They work... But there's issues. I'm definitely going to watch this video and see if the setup for these more expensive guns makes more sense.
Ironically enough, another viewer wants me to research into the dolphin bar and Wii controllers, so we're both going to be exploring the opposite configurations :-)
@@MavericksArcade That's awesome, brother! Just so you're aware...the dolphin issue for me is: 1: The settings of the gun/bar having to be reconfigured over and over per game. I've had to do this so many times for area 51 ( MAME ). 2: Now that I suppose I have the two Wii Motes set-up, if I start the Launchbox arcade...then go to in if the lightgun games ( let's say Alien3-The gun game ), the guns will work for the most part. However, when you try and exit the game...the controls start going haywire ( almost like someone is holding down on the main joystick ). And the only way to stop it is to control alt delete and exit out of your frontend completely. As a side note, you have to use the program touchmote to utilize the wiimote. If you want, leading up to your research...I can send you a video in a Dropbox link showcasing the issue. I'll just record it with a go pro or something 👍🏾👈🏾
Now I know why my guns are not working as intended. I have no lights at all on my sensor bar. Oddly enough, I can still calibrate my guns. The problem is the cursor zooms around the screen, making playing any light gun game virtually impossible. I have two guns, both of my sensor bars do not work. Talk about really bad luck. I am going to contact Andy asap. Thanks for the video.
@@MavericksArcade No. I sent them to my daughter. I hope they have better luck than I did. A while back I bought a Sinden light gun. I had some success getting some games running. 🧐
glad your looking into light guns, is there a better sensor out there? im moving mine from inside glass pane to top of cabinet tonight, like the hinge idea, love your videos
I got 2 Aimtrak guns. One calibrated and firmware shows updated in green, works fine. Other one, no red dot shows, keeps saying “no device” and can’t configure controls. But it still controls the mouse cursor. I’m using the Extreme ir sensor from ArcadeGuns. is the gun faulty?
When you plugged in the first gun, did you change the ID to 2, 3, or 4? By default they all ship as 1, and if you don't change it using the firmware tool, then the 2nd gun won't work because it has the same ID.
@@MavericksArcade thanks for the reply, I was able to mess around with them and found out that it was just a device number change. but yes like you said it was the ID of one was at 3 for some reason, but after changing it to 2 and calibrating them both they work good. Thanks 👍🏻
Just got one of these guns, wondered if you have ever had an issue where there are two flashing cursors on screen while calibrating? It still seems to work pretty good even though I have this phantom cursor at the top right of my screen. It's almost like it could be going outside the left of the picture and coming in again from the right if that makes any sense?
Had these guns 3 weeks now. Calibrated them countless times but can't get them to work with any games whatsoever. In mame the cursor/crosshair just dances all over the screen uncontrollably. That's about the most I've been able to get them to do. All reviews say these guns are good but I've found them to be nothing but a pain in the ass and wish I hadn't wasted my money.
I've found them to be reliable if the environment doesn't change after I did the recalibration using the tool. If you're still having issues, I'd recommend reaching out to Andy at Ultimarc.

It's likely your mouse fighting with the cursor in the calibration screen.

Did the sensor bar get moved at all? Sometimes you may have to recalibrate if it gets messed up.
Dont forget light guns with retropie 😉
