- Milton Keynes Dons 2-1 AFC Wimbledon | The FA Cup 2nd Round 2012/13 Jon Ostemobor grabbed a dramatic last-gasp winner as MK Dons beat AFC Wimbledon 2-1 to progress to the Third Round of The FA Cup with Budweiser.
The first-ever meeting between the two sides developed into a feisty affair that made a mockery of the two sides' league form.
MK Dons are riding high in League One while AFC Wimbledon are battling to avoid relegation from League Two, but The FA Cup ensured an even playing field -- and AFC fought bravely.
They started the better of the two sides but MK Dons came into the game after a quarter of an hour, with Angelo Balanta inches away from giving the hosts the lead with a curling effort.
But the game needed a flash of inspiration and it was provided in spectacular style by Stephen Gleeson on the stroke of half-time.
There appeared little danger to the AFC Wimbledon goal but Neil Sullivan, who spent 12 years playing for Wimbledon, was left completely helpless as Gleeson smashed a shot from 25 yards into the top corner.
AFC Wimbledon were not disheartened, though. They improved as the second half went on, and were level on the hour mark with a goal that sparked delirium amongst their supporters.
Jack Midson was the man who got it, playing the ball out wide to Curtis Osano before dashing into the box to meet the cross with a superb diving header.
Both sides struggled to create any clear openings after that, and it seemed certain that a replay would be needed to separate the two sides.
But in the 92nd minute that all changed as Ostemobor produced a moment of real quality to flick home a cross by Zeli Ismail and send the home fans wild.

"A game that should have never happened"
***** Since when was the definition of real... "Steal a club and make them start from the bottom" ?
At least mk dons aren’t a tracing paper club
Indeed
@@imerged8331 but they’re still the real wimbledon 👍
All proper football fans know that what happened to Wimbledon was a travesty and should never be allowed to happen again, however what's done is done and as an AFCW fan I think that although we will never forgive or forget what happened, the best way for AFCW to move forward as a club is to ignore them and concentrate on ourselves.
They're a different club now. The new Wimbledon are now the true Wimbledon.
Yes, MK Dons deserved to win the game. Yes, Wimbledon FC were in a terrible state when they became MK Dons (2004). But you must realise that AFC Wimbledon was founded by the loyal, determined fans because the new owner of Wimbledon FC/MK Dons had the balls to enrage the supporters of a team that had existed even before 1890. Why can't MK Dons just call themselves Milton Keynes FC anyway? You shouldn't be able to move a club's location 56 miles and then expect everyone to be happy about keeping 'Dons' on their name. He (the owner of MK Dons) needs to rethink this.
***** I'm not even a Wimbledon fan. I do live very near to Wimbledon but I don't care what you call yourselves tbh. As long as Bolton can still beat you whenever I'm fine with that.
***** Aberdeen's Dons are an altogether different thing than MK Dons. Nice try to confuse the issue but it won't work. MK Dons are and will remain for quite some time an aberration. Keep up the good work...
sternumagnum Natural birthplace and town? Crystal Palace or Norwood Junction is not Plough Lane is it? No.... it isn't. Wimbledon FC fans basically let Winkleman take the club away for £250k.... Shocking. But let them blame everyone else! Poor old AFC...
Edge Man Did the fans sell the club? No, the fans, as usual, had no say. All the say they can have is this, what you're reading right now: Fans, no matter of which club, standing up and telling owners like Winkley-poo to fuck off.
***** You think fans are whores - you are at the ideal club for you.
MK Dons. Franchise club. But any true football fan would only say one thing: Jon otsemobor's goal was out of this world. Easily the best goal anyone's seen this season
Never seen a goal like that in all my years watching football. Unbelievable!
The heel of god
2 of the best goals i've seen in a single game.Outstanding.
Jon Otsemobor goal should’ve won the Puskas award
i respect all the players in both these teams, they both played very well
the fans need to understand that pete winkleman had to relocate the club otherwise they were going to fold
wimbledons goal and mk dons first goal were both very good and mk's 2nd goal was quite fortunate for mk dons.
AFC fans trashed the mk dons stadium and shat on the floor.
but Wimbledon FC split into 2 clubs ....it was either 2 clubs
or no clubs.
i understand this bothers the AFC fans so much..i would be pissed 2
Wow, i think that's the first time I've seen stadium mk be not completely empty
This was an epic match!
they didn't buy the position, wimbledon had gone into administration. if anything the move to mk was the best outcome.
To be fair, he also calls AFC Wimbledon just AFC, so balancing it out
There were 2 quality goals at least
9/10 people hate mk dons because everyone else does. If you lot stopped crying over our team and start concentrating on yours you might get somewhere. Nothing will change what happened.
wimbledon fc were playing in the national hockey stadium in MILTON KEYNES in 2003. Perhaps everyone knew what was happening and decided to start again. we only played at selhurst park until end of 2002
Arsenal are also a franchise FC, they relocated. No one cares about them, but all about MK Dons. Who cares that our stadium isn't full each week, we are at least building for the future
Heskey said Otsemobor was the closest thing Liverpool had to Trent Alexander-Arnold 13 years prior
All real football fans were behind you AFC - a proper football club and not one built on lies and greed. MK Dons are a disgrace to the game.
What a flick!
MK Dons hold the registration from 1889 of Old Central Wimbledon who changed their name to Wimbledon and then MK Dons. They won the FA Cup in 1988. Ron Nodes in 1979 bought MK City amateur club to merge with Wimbledon move to MK in a new stadium. As early as 1968 Charlton considered moving to the new town just started construction called Milton Keynes, which had a 30,000 seater stadium in the initial plan. Winkleman offered a new stadium in MK to Barnet, Luton, Wimbledon and QPR. Even Celtic and a Dublin consortium were considering buying Wimbledon and taking the club to Ireland or Scotland to play in the Premier. Koppel of Wimbledon started the ball rolling to move. The move was not a shock. Merton Council did sweet nothing to keep the Dons. Without the move Wimbledon would have disappeared. MK saved the Dons.
Milton Keynes is now the largest town/city outside London in the South East. Larger than Reading and Southampton. It is on the M1 and the West Coast Main Line with Luton airport nearby. It is also getting bigger with the youngest population in the country which is getting younger. MK Dons have a superb stadium. Be prepared to see them in the top-flight within 10 years as the new younger generation support them. They deserve it as well.

How much does the job pay? Are the Dons generous with salaries or not?
Hahahahahaah how has that worked out so far mate
When you have to write an essay with now idea how to prove your point:
i pity the mk fans. all they did was follow the club and now they are condemned for being disloyal (inversely)
exactly i know im late haha
@Thomas Pullen ??
Exactly
muppet
How can kingston fans say that they are the real wimbledon if they formed their club before the move? Logic. Just pure educated logic
The MK Dons fans singing: your not singing anymore!
Couldn't have happened to a more sanctimonious, holier than thou bunch of wallies.
RIP Kingston.
Pause at 1:32 follow the left post up into the crowd until you see the guy in the yellow away kit.. Thats me.. and in the moment I couldnt be happier!
Great game and great goals!
Still dosnt mean scouser im from Kent live in Milton Keynes been supporting Liverpool all my life and support my local club Mk dons since about 2004. So not a scouser.
More than disgusting. The owners from Wimbledon basically moved the club to Milton Keynes without the fans permission. It was the hijack of a football club. And the fact that the Milton Keynes fans are proud of it is pretty disgraceful. The moral of the story is "Don't have your own football team, go and steal somebody else's football team and make it your own and get away with it".
Gleason has ripped the onion bag there
Port Vale is one of the few English league clubs not to be named after a city or town. The name Port Vale exists on maps pre-dating the formation of the club, which probably occurred in 1879,
A game I will never forget! Amazing results against them full deserved this win.
MK Dons used to be the original Wimbledon FC, before it was sold to a guy who then moved it to Milton Keynes with the permission of the FA, much to the discontent of Wimbledon supporters.
Is there a franchise that it more hated right now in England than this total joke, the "MK Dons"?
No but that's because people are sheep when it comes to facts and believe Wimbledon FC was stolen and AFC were forced to form because Wimbledon were bought by Winkleman... when in fact Winkleman only got control of the club way after AFC had been formed.
But yeah you keep talking tripe as a resident of Merton I would definitely vote no to having AFC Hypocrites in my borough again. Residents in the area are already against the move... having to put up with a tonne of AFC Wimbledon fans who live in Carshalton descending on the area on a Saturday afternoon sounds horrific to them.
You must feel like an idiot, Not only do your comments get little reaction, Your poor little club got beaten my the "franchise that it more hated right now in England than this total joke (MK)". AGAIN lol
Is there anything that makes us focus on what we are doing more than your hate?? I think not and I thank you :- )
BigChris1998 Absolutely.
Side note: For the 10th year running "When Saturday Comes" issued a review for all League clubs before the upcoming season. Supporters from all clubs were asked to give opinions. For the MK Dons, the entry reads for the 10th year running "No questions asked". I wonder why.
sternumagnum Like I give a fuck pmsl
Ismail is my cousin(the guy who shot outside the box to set up the winning goal)
I was there and it was a gd game no doubt gg AFC wimbledon fans. gleeson's goal was a very gd shot
MK Dons, the shame of England.
Everybody likes Wimbledon, I'm not a Wimbledon supporter but I would like to see them in at least the championship again. Might take a few years though.
u gotta say tht flick was creative...
I live in Merton to and there is no space for Wimbledon in Merton but we are still about 30 minutes away so why should we change our name
I love close matches like this.
To add to what MRXxXElmoxXx has said, no club tried hard enough to attract audiences from Milton Keynes in the 90s or early 00s. Rushden did try a bit, but failed in the late 90s.
It's foolish really. Our town has hundreds of thousands of people and could have helped many clubs out but they never really tapped into the resource...
I love seeing people completely fail to defend something by using a completely inane comment that does not have anything to do with the situation.
what is the story behind these teams
“We Make History, We don’t buy it” AAAAAAAAAAAAAAFFFFFFFCCCCC WIMMMMMMMBLEDON
Words Cannot Describe...
1. They abandoned there own club 2 year's before Wimbledon moved to MK.
2. This would of never happened if they went to there own games.
3. Back in the 70-80s they tried moving to Mk for a bigger fan base.
4. The fan's could of bought the club for £1 on the final day of the club being sold.
5. And for 9 year's they don't play at Wimbledon they play in Kingston which is 10 miles away.
6. By F.A Law you have to name the club where it was based so AFC Wimbledon
should never of been allowed.
who is Ismail mate...that assist at the end...
well done to mk dons...who is Ismail is he new in the squad....
For your information I live in Merton. It's all Chelsea here and random clubs. Probably more West Ham fans than AFC Wimbledon fans. Merton Council don't want Wimbledon back in Merton. Might as well get a name change to the area they actually play in. KT (Kingston)
Thank you, they are not Wimbledon
what's with the rivalry between mkd and wimbledon?
Our attendance figures are always near the top of league one.
@Thomas Pullen I don't understand your sarcasm. If I wasn't for the virus we would be getting some large attendances for league one.
wimbledon were playing in milton keynes in 2002
Undr the cosh?
in the 90's wimbledon was taken over by Norwegin Millionaires. They were looking to spend alot of money on players and a new stadium in the area, however after getting relegated the word got out the owners were actuallylooking to move the team to Dublin, Ireland. UEFA stepped in and stopped the move to Ireland. However they still had plans to move out of London. AFC Wimbldeon fans felt the owners did not care about them. So they got together and created AFC Wimbldeon. WimbldeonFC moved to Milton
Cheering as if they're a proper team. Id be fkn embarrassed to be an MK Dons fan.
How can you cheer if you are a player or coach from MK? COYD
This team better win tomorrow!
Milton Keynes should have had their own team, they desrve it, but it should've been done the old fashioned way: Get a club together and start climbing the leagues.
But, no, they had to poach Wimbledon, to their eternal shame.
ahh i see. thank you!
Because by that time (low on money) they went to support AFCW instead. Why would they watch a club knowing that in a few years time, they would move away to Milton Keynes? Instead they paid to support a club with the prospect of it being the fans' club forever.
NO DO we have MICK HARFORD and IAN WRIGHT
aswell as potter who played in the champions league
chadwick who played 4 man utd
Alan ~Smith who played in the champions leageue final 4 leeds and played 4 utd
All the Wimbledon fans saying Mk fans are scummy... Just looking at what Wimbledon fans are saying in the comments, just a bit ironic, that's all...
Swoosemoose2 you obviously don't know the history
Caleb PVFC
I do. I'm sure that I would be annoyed if my favourite club got relocated miles away. but the club was having a financial crisis, and the supporters of old afc should have known that the relocation is for the best. I don't understand the fuss to be quite honest with you.
I think Caleb would have rather the club went out of business entirely by the sound of it.
yeah, the move to MK saved your shit club
Wimbledon fans boycotted their club right before they went into crisis and then have the cheek to hate mk dons because of it.
There is no such law which states that a club must be named by the area in which it is based. There is no such place in Stoke called Port Vale.
I love seeing people try to defend the indefensible!
Lol bet you dont even know where Walsall is.
think people should grow up talking about wimble..who..... its 10 years ago!
dons are a good team in their own right now.
No MK fan is proud of it, but its happened so instead of bitching about it, try to do it on the pitch.
the fa had already given permission for wimbledon to move to milton keynes, so whats the point in supporting a club that is just going to move 56 miles north? and then for mk to name themself as dons is just disgusting
wimbledon were playing in milton keynes by 2003
Andy Brassell brought me here
Afc wimbledon the real Don.
Who does then? Merton Council? Because Mk dons certainly don't have them. Learn the facts before typing in future please.
I'm an Mk Dons supporter I go to a lot of their matches I watched this game And I've just looked back at these highlights Great match The last goal in the last minute was just incredible
+Cameron Dollamore why do you support mk dons
Maybe he's from Milton Keynes?
Who did you support before 2004?
i prefer being known as a supoorter... fans (in my experience) genrally go out to cause trouble (fanatics) :)
Respect to AFC from a Man City fan i hope you keep rising through the leagues and get revenge on those bastards.
MK Dons have been drawn against AFC Wimbledon in the Johnstones paint trophy, Week commencing 6th October 2014. MK ARMY
Get your heels out for the dons
Well said
nasty foul in the box
We are mk we are mk we are mk dons fc
AFC Wimbledon didn't abandon Wimbledon do u know how many protest happened to try and keep the club in London so AFC Wimbledon cant be could Wimbledon because we play 30 minutes away
Chelsea fan- mk dons = beast. Great goals and that flick was on purpose. Afc= rubbish lol
that is the cheekiest goal I have ever seen! first of all its against your greatest rivals in the fa cup, a winner with a back heel. Oh yeah and in the 90th minute. RESPECT
Lazy? Wimbledon fans made AFC Wimbledon so how do you work that one out?
Predestination feels 😜
i am a wigan fan but was at this game and was stood on the concourse when that goal went in (at mk they are slightly above the away end with a full view of the pitch) gotta say it was brilliant looking down on the real dons going mental
that alone was worth the 50 quid train i paid to get down there.
No but before they moved, they went into Administration and Winkleman got the club for 250k... where were all the Dons fans? Oh they'd already abandoned Wimbledon! and formed AFC Nurbiton.
You will never play in Merton... let alone Wimbledon. You have Merton's crest as your badge... why? You've NEVER played there. You are not Wimbledon FC nor a continuation, you can't claim something you left to die.
I live in Merton btw and I don't support either side. Just here with the hard facts.
We're going back to plough lane!
No you aren't, you're moving to the Borough of Merton for the first time in your history
Facebook stats: afc Wimbledon 'likes' =17,000. MK 'Dons' 'likes' = 5,000. The democracy of football never lies.
And it doesn't give the AFCW fan's the right to complain they could of bought there club for £1 on the final day in 2002 but they didn't Wimbledon is a joke. There own fan's fault they were put in that position and the board as well the club was run so poorly it was just a joke.
I live in Merton near Wimbledon... Wimbledon FC have not played here in decades and in the case of AFC have NEVER played here. I was at this game as I am originally from MK and have family there, I was glad MK won.
Having to live in Merton I don't have to put up with AFC because barely anyone here supports the club it's all Chelsea/Man Utd/Liverpool/Arsenal
I support West Ham just for the record, I don't believe the AFC sob story after reading how the fans abandoned the club and basically handed the club and league place to Winkleman..
The truth is out there... don't believe the AFC sob story read it for yourselves... they boycotted the club, accelerated the clubs path into administration and effectively handed the club to Winkleman... not sure how that constitutes as 'STOLEN'
MK Still most hated club in England
Jack Grant And still not giving a fuck -x-
lol
Edge Man Maybe some fans boycotted the club but a lot of teams have these protest teams does it mean all fans agreed to boycotting the team and handing the club over.
PATRICK RICHMOND You're* now fuck off back to Carshalton you illiterate chav mug.
MK ARMY!
we are mk the best team in the world well done for winning against wimbledon
Good punctuation bro.
MK are a disgusting club - if u dont know the story be sure to look it up
Mk dons is a new team, everyone needs to leave them alone, unless of course you are a loyal fan of Robinson's mk army :D
WE LOVE YOU MK WE DO WE LOVE YOU MK WE DO OH MK WE LOVE YOU!!!!!
Magical
Wait, Wimbledon exists?
The original FC Wimbledon was moved away and given a new name ..as such ceased to exist as Wimbledon
A new club was set up to replace the old Wimbledon by supporters/fans of the old club, called AFC Wimbledon ,it's also a new club but more or less the spiritual successor of the original Wimbledon.
So yes it does exist.
The original FC Wimbledon was moved to Milton Keynes and became the MK Dons. AFC Wimbledon was formed to replace the original team and their original fans began to follow them. They've quickly worked their way all the way up to League 2 and now were in the FA Cup.
***** The problematic part is "moved" them. He could just as easily have started a new club and have it work its way up the ladder like every new club.
Wankler simply bought the licence to compete in the league. Short and sweet.
***** If that walking asshole wanted "football for MK" he could've started an MK-based club and have it work its way up the football ladder. Just like every other club in the country. But what he TRULY wanted was immediate access to the League. He bought the first League club he could lay his hands on, like a vulture. Yep, every football fan simple adores MK Dons, their owner and his business practices. Right.
Winkleman bought Wimbledon for 250k if he didn't they would have not existed anymore... Why didn't the fans step in? Oh that's right because they had already formed AFC Nurbiton.
Also didn't Wimbledon move to MK after AFC were formed? Oh yeah of course... AFC formed before the name MK Dons came about and Winkleman took the club that the fans didn't want.
Do one. Truth hurts
haha what a cheeky flick
200 people protested and only 100 signed the petition to keep the club where they were. The club's a joke 1. The fan's didn't have the money to do it. 2. You will be still playing at crystal palace. 3. Your board did the same thing to MK City you bought the club in the 1980's tried moving to MK because of not enough fan's going to home game's the MK council didn't want the move, your board tried to sell MK City went under no more club. All you would be is another Portsmouth or Plymouth.
