    K18 is so much better! K18 results are permanent and do not wash out and works in such less time than Olaplex does and it does so much more than olaplex! So it’s basically a win win situation.
    K18 has changed my life in the way I approach chemical services!
    I was able to bleach my permed/highlighted/colored hair to platinum blonde in one session and my hair felt like virgin hair still!!!! I was in beyond shock cause I thought my hair would break at least a bit but it didn’t at ALL!!
    K18 is NO JOKE! Works like a miracle!

    I saw a hairdresser’s review and he said that the 2 do different things to the hair so they can’t really be compared in a general way. One might fix your hair’s type of damage better one month, and the other the next depending on what you’ve put your hair through!

  • @cw9452

    Funnily enough if you had of asked me a couple of months ago i would have said olaplex. However since its Summer here in Australia and everyday here is 35 degrees celcius my hair is getting totally destroyed by chlorine, sun and salt and K18 totally transformed that just after one use, whereas olaplex really did nothing for me. K18 is Sooooo amazing and I love that it works so quickly and easily. No waiting around forever like i used to do with olaplex. Love the 4 minutes, feels like magic. I would say that if you have damage from the sun, pool and beach K18 is much more superior for that kind of damage!!

    Great review! I've tried both and I agree, K18 definitely seems to work better. From what I've read, the reason is because Olaplex appears to "wash out" after each wash, making it seem less effective, but it still works. K18 seems to last longer than Olaplex in my experience, however, one huge negative for K18 is that it's loaded with gluten! I'm gluten sensitive, so the wheat ingredients are a big red flag for me and I don't use it anymore. I probably wouldn't have tried it had I realized it had wheat, so it's not allergy friendly for some people unfortunately.

      Hey Amanda I was interested to hear your thoughts, I am severely Coeliac (I'll be in bed for days with the tiniest cross contamination) and I have still been using K18 with no issues. It's a big myth in the natural health industry that gluten proteins can penetrate your skin and enter your blood stream that way, the only way it happens is if you're using a lipstick or toothpaste where it can accidentally be ingested. So in your case, do you react to it even if it's just coming in contact with your skin?
      The only reason I comment this is for anyone else reading this with a gluten sensitivity or coeliac disease, it doesn't necessarily mean that you can't use it, topical sensitivity is very rare and is still safe in most cases! I don't doubt your experience because our skin is all so different and can react to different things, I just don't want anyone who avoids eating gluten to think that they automatically have to avoid wheat protein in topical products.

    • @beezer81
      @beezer81 Рік тому

      @@avaboyer9297 awesome information, and I definitely agree, not everyone has the same issues, but for me, I tend to get an increase in scalp irritation when there's wheat protein in hair products. It's a bummer, but I've tried multiple things and it's the same reaction every time. But I have a LOT of allergies and sensitivities, so it's just different for me. But my apologies, I didn't mean to have my comment interpreted as if people with gluten issues can't use things like K18, I was just speaking about myself 😊.

      @avaboyer9297 Рік тому

      @@beezer81 that's so interesting and frustrating for you. And don't apologise!! I was just interested to know if you already know your skin reacts to gluten, or if it was more of a preference/precaution. But if you see that pattern consistently with topical wheat products then your skin probably does react to it which sucks, it's in so many products :( I don't know anyone with a skin sensitivity to wheat products so it's interesting to pick your brains!

      Definitely don't just use protein/bond based treatments your hair needs a balance so it's always good to once your hair has gotten to a good state try to balance the protein & moisture. Sometimes if your hair gets too much protein that can be bad for it! So hard to manage I know! Sometimes yeah your hair is past the point of fully repair - for example continuing using heat whilst using K18 or bleach etc won't fully repair but it'll maintain

    Team K18 here. Started with Olaplex and moved to K18 mostly because of ease of use plus K18 said they did everything Olaplex did and more. I find my results are better with K18.
    Two tips I have for using K18:
    1. Do not skip the clarifying part. This is crucial. The treatment won't work well if you do. Even if you have to do 2 washes with a clarifying shampoo to get the product out, do it. I recommend Malibu C Un Do Goo. Gets all the gunk and resins out and leaves the hair feeling good and not stripped to death.
    2. If you have dry brittle hair DO NOT skip the conditioner/masks. Just apply AFTER the 4 minutes. K18 has done its job after 4 minutes so you can apply whatever after that. I apply my hair mask after the 4 minutes rinse out and then apply any styles or leave ins. K18 is loaded with the drying alcohol so you definitely want to counter that.

      @cfoster6804 2 роки тому +2

      @@helenalovelock1030 Sorry, I wasn't clear you don't rinse the K18 out before applying the other rinse out condituoner/mask. You apply the conditioner on top of the k18 after 4 minutes then rinse it all out. The k18 is already absorbed at this point and connected to the bonds so that won't be rinsed out. This way just removes some of the drying alcohol.

I also stopped using any heat at all and you’re not supposed to use conditioner before the K18 so my hair just looks sh*t all the time. I have even more giant broken off sections at the hair root about than you did 😭 I’ve been taking collagen (nails are def super strong now) and I’m trying Bondi Boost spray + Vegamour Gro serum next wish me luck 🤞 ALSO the K18 gave me terrible breakouts and scabs all around my temples and hair line which Olaplex never did. Olaplex is really a joke compared to K18. First of all you can combine K18 great with a lot of products. With Olaplex you have to be so picky especially when it comes to Keratin. My hair is so shiny even after the washes when it is not k18 day. And the easy application makes it worth every cent. And I easily get away with one pump for my shoulder length hair. That was the only negative in that video. Do you put k18 all the way up to your roots? That’s where a lot of my damage is but it makes me nervous to put a post-wash product in root to tip that it’ll end up looking greasy!

    People need to understand they may claim something, but they are not the same at all . K18 contains things that a repairing conditioner would or a good leave in .

    This is so helpful! Just got k18 (have used twice and wow!!!!) and been using olaplex for about 8 mos! So question, can I still use olaplex shampoo before k18? Will I over protein my hair? Also after the first 6 times, olaplex 4 and 5? I also use 0 and 3. Thanks for the help!

    K18 is way too expensive, I can put money but for something thats worth it in consistency and in long-term!
    For Olaplex, I got an allergy so I'm trying to find an alternative by using keratin products based.

    I usually spend around 200$ a month in Olaplex products due to the permanent results, are the K18 results permanent too? If so can it be used right away after bleaching?

    • @sophiehannah_
      @sophiehannah_  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah they can be used straight after bleaching - it's going to repair your hair from the inside out

    • @marinasophie6336
      @marinasophie6336 2 роки тому +1

      K18 is supposed to be more permanent than olaplex. It says to use for the first 4-6 consecutive washes in the beginning and then only every 4th-6th wash after that. You will also most likely use way way less than olaplex they even have a recommendation of how many pumps to use depending on your length and thickness on their website.

    • @cfoster6804

      Malibu C Undo Goo. It will get all of that product resin out and will not dry your hair out. I know a lot of shampoos say they won't dry your hair but this one seriously doesn't. They sell sample packs too.

    K18 didn't work on dry damage hair at all. This product dries them up and they became frizzy after the recommended 6 uses. After I use Phyto Paris products (a lot less expensive that K18 for a lot more product), my hair became shiny. I'm sure glad I bought K18 at Sephora as I got my money back. Thanks Sephora for my 100.$. This product is not cheap mind you. Over-enthusiastic followers hyped it up but it doesn't deserve it in my very humble opinion.

    Idk if my K18 was authentic, because I did not have the experience you all had. Felt like it stripped the crap out of my hair. My hair was a rats nest when washed it after a few uses. Was worse after using it 4 times 😭😭

      Same here, I bleached my hair recently and just started using K18 as a leave-on treatment. So far after two uses I didn’t get the result people are raving about - hair was very frizzy and puffy. I’m using the three carded samples (5ml*3) I bought from the salon. I’m also using Olaplex No. 7 bonding oil. I’m thinking if I should add No. 3 or 6 into my hair regimen…

      Guys, please use a leave in after K18. It repairs, not conditions. It's loaded with alcohol so you need something after. You can even use your regular moisturizing mask or conditioner after the 4 minutes.

    • @lightscameratamara
      @lightscameratamara 2 роки тому

      @@cfoster6804 agree with that. I used it then got back in shower to finish my conditioning after 10 min. Ugh didn’t read what was in it. I def didn’t need alcohol on my dry hair
