    The 2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid for both the US and Canada are both manufactured at the joint Toyota/Mada factory in Huntsville, Alabama. However, despite the great Toyota powertrain marriage, in terms of standard equipment, the US and Canadian models differ markedly, in stark favor of the Canadian model. The Canadian model’s top trim (The CX-50 Hybrid GT) comes with heated steering wheel, front and rear parking sensors, front and rear cross traffic alert, 360-degree camera system. While some of the ‘missing’ features can be found on the gas-version CX-50 Turbo Premium, so goes the fuel economy found in the hybrid version. The US top-trim hybrid version (Hybrid Premium Plus) has no heated steering wheel, no front cross traffic alert and no 350-degree camera system. No trim level of the CX-50 features a digital rearview camera, especially noteworthy since rear window visibility is quite narrow. To me, this lack of standard and upper-trim equipment makes at least the upper trims of the CX-50 Hybrid not competitive in features and values with its rivals in the class, e.g. the Toyota RAV4, the Hyundai Tucson and to the Honda CRV. This stateside strip-down of CX-50 equipment compared to Canada, according to some conspiracy theorists, is an attempt to push the US market toward the CX-70 and CX-90 if all you want at best is 25 mpg. At this point, I want to either find a way to purchase a Canadian-spec’d CX-50 from the factory in Huntsville, or wait for a mid-cycle or 2026 model year refresh opportunity (if I’ve not bought something else) to see if Mazda pulls their heads out of their a**es!

      They're selling just the base model 1st here in the US, they're going to come out with more trim options later either mid year or next. They know most consumers here are about cheap prices, too many people driving base model everything including BMWs here 😂. And there's a loaded hybrid or mild hybrid cx90 options for now.

    I was really interested in this marriage until I found out the long list of items that aren't available in any trim level in the US market:
    Heated steering wheel, heated seats, ventilated seats, heads up display, 360 overhead view, fixed back up lines that don't show where the cars track is - they don't turn. These items are available in almost all other US Mazda models. What is Mazda's thinking? Living in the Northeast we need the heat in the winter and seat cooling in the summer.

    Been driving a CX-30 as a rental on my business trip and I'm sold my next car will be a CX-5 or CX-50 as I'd like a little more space in the trunk. The dial took a couple of days to get use to but now I love it and the volume/play/pause/skip all in one dial is amazing and very helpful when driving and the screen placement is perfect but could be just a little bigger

    I like my CX5 a lot but disappointed in its mpg. I'd consider the hybrid had Mazda not misled me & many other customers saying the mazda app would be included at no additional costs, only to disable it this year, stating they want $10 monthly. Mazda corporate said they are not responsible for the dealer's telling consumers this across the country, and mazda had not made up its mind until recently of how much it felt the service was worth. That says a lot about the company.

    I drive a 2022 Mazda 3 sport. Love it in every aspect, except we are looking to upgrade to a bigger vehicle. I test drove 2024 Mazda CX50, loved it. Now that there’s a hybrid version, it’s very tempting to get that one as it has excellent fuel economy. However, not sure if I will like moving to a CVT after driving my Mazda 3 for last three years. Any thoughts?

    The starting price of the CX-50 hybrid is way too high. Pretty much any gas savings are obliterated. What we really need is a fairly priced CX-30 hybrid with either the Corolla Cross hybrid system or a Mazda system but either way, something around $30k is much more compelling and the CX-30 really needs more range.

  • @jayt2266
    @jayt2266 3 дні тому +1

    Wish they would lift all the CX-50s the 1 1/2 inches the hybrid got and offer all the Canadian options in the US. We have a 24 base model and it is fun to drive but the seats could definitely be more comfortable and wish it were just a bit taller and roomier. And that subscription to be able to remote start after three years, c'mon Mazda, really?

    Here’s some pricing information from Mazda Canada:
    - Hybrid is +C$ 3k
    - Hybrid is higher interest rate which will account for another +C$ 1.5k
    - Dealer wants to charge +C$ 4k
    So, is it really worth it to get the “Hybrid” version for “+C$ 8.5k” ?

    Mazdas are a step above Hondas and Toyotas in terms of design and driving feel. Maybe somewhere just below Acura and Lexus, which makes them feel like a great value.

    • @almassengale
      @almassengale Місяць тому

      Depends on what you value. Mazdas are at the bottom of their classes consistently for interior packaging which is a key part of design. For instance a CX-90 has roughly the same amount of cargo space behind the first row as a CRV does and is worst in class for practicality. Or take the CX-50. 31 cubic feet of cargo space. A Rav 4 or CRV is closer to 38. If Mazda could package well, they'd sell like hotcakes. Until they do they will be an also ran.

    Rest in peace rav4. The cx50 has wiped it out of existence. Because there’s literally zero reason to get a rav4 over a cx50. Even with a torsion beam rear suspension the cx50 still out handles a rav4 or even an nx with an independent rear suspension

      A Rav4 has far more cargo space than a CX-50 which is one of the biggest things people look to in a small wagon and something that sells far more cars than cornering performance does. CX-50 has 56 cubic feet or cargo space behind the first row which is Crosstrek type numbers. A Rav-4 has 70.
