Love this. Just wish I watch this one before the one you did 6 years ago. A great tutorial but this one has a more finished look.

I love *French Hitching* as it is really fast and effective way of covering things!

I used this with thread to cover a stylist for my tablet. It was so slippery to hang onto and this worked out really well to add just enough grip to it. Been using it for about a year with no prob. Even thread seems to be lasting longer than I thought it would.

      Glad to hear it!
Although it is simple it still looks great and works really well with pens, knife handles, pencils and the likes. Just makes these items much more comfortable to use.

Any rough idea of amount of cord needed against length / diameter of the handle?

    • @KnottingKnots

David, I always find it useful to do a quick test run. Just do enough turns to cover say an inch, then from that work out the length required for the full distance.

Indeed Johnny Debt is correct. Usually, due to a number of factors (cord diameter, handle diameter, tightening) it makes sense to do a short trial run and see how much cord you use up. Always add 10 or 15% more just in case- better to waste some cord than time and effort.

David, you will also find that with time comes the ability to estimate quite accurately, how many arms length of cord you require particular job.

yeah, I was just wondering if there was a quick method. like with normal herringbone plaiting it is twice the length of what you're covering and enough strands to circumnavigate the circumference.

I like this as you don’t have to predetermine the length of cord...also you don’t have to pull the entire length through each time..

Just to clarify, you removed the rubber band when you got to the top and didn't need to hold that piece down anymore, right?

Will cloth electrical tap work? Any reason not to use it?

      Hey!
Instead of waxing the grip? As long as it gives you enough friction it should do just fine!

      Hey Rick!
I am sorry if I missed your comment. I do get quite a few.
It is best if we talk through Facebook. Would that be an option?
