Interestingly that pain only applied to rides based on the Arrow derived MK-1200 track. Even back in the day they built pretty solid coasters that used different track styles. Like what started as Space Center at Phantasialand in 1986 or Vogel Rok at Efteling (both using the same track style which is very different from their MK-1200) or their mine trains, like Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyland Paris or Colorado Adventure at Phantasialand, with the latter often considered being the best mine train coaster in the world (I can't say for sure since I don't know all of them, but it's certainly a really excellent one). But unfortunately US coaster enthusiasts mostly got their terrible SLCs and Boomerangs as major Vekoma coasters and so it's really understandable that the name is often associated with painful rides.
New gen Vekoma loopers like Lech and Formula FEEL completely different track-shaping wise than any other manufacturer. It's like riding an FVD++ layout IRL. Really cool!
We're very excited here in Denmark to get a new Vekoma thrill coaster in Fårup Sommerland. It'll be Denmark's first proper thrill coaster since 2008, and it will take the height and likely the speed records of the country
@@gemmachaos No, it's very new information. All we know is that we will get a 37 meter tall Vekoma coaster in a new spot in the park, and it's coming because the park stated it needed something with more speed and excitement. I'm guessing it will be similar to the hyper space warps, but probably a new layout or even model
@@NorthernRidesYaBoi Thanks for sharing this! I'll be watching closely, Fårup looks like an interesting place. How does it compare to the other Danish parks in your opinion?
I dont understand why people complaining about boomerangs. These arent bad coasters and arent unconfortably rough you cant say that about SLC's off course.
@@bmfanboy8838 I mean I rode it multiple times lol, it's super comfortable and the bar doesn't press into your stomach at all. Occasionally the vest can get too tight but otherwise it's awesome.
I have ridden F.L.Y. at Phantasialand a total of 7 times in one day. I can say it being at the top of this list definately is well deserved. It is as of current one of the only flyers in europe. It is the first launched flyer which makes it unique. And the amount of near misses when flying through the extensive theming is just incredible. Its not supposed to be an intense coaster. All it needs to be is to be fun. And thats what F.L.Y. does perfect. As of currently i rank it higher then taron because its so fun and visually appealing to ride.
I just took a 2 day trip to Phantasialand and rode F.L.Y a couple of times. I gotta say even though it aint the most thrilling coaster model, it definitly made my list for most fun to ride rollercoasters. Also as you said in the video, the themeing and everything around it is part of the Track unlike anywhere i have seen it. The whole waiting area is packed with Steam punk themed blue prints and printed advertisements for inventions. The whole area is just jawdropping and i didnt believe this one myself but its really is as many people said, as you enter Rookburgh there is a good chance you actually forget that there is a whole other park outside of this area. The feeling of soaring throught the whole rookburgh back and forth is just incredible and the 2nd launch and immediate rise after that really gives you a great kick as well. I recommend booking a ticket or two for Phantasialand if you visit germany and take some time in the Park, 2 days recommended imo because there is much to see outside of the thrills as well as maybe wanting to reride one or two times :D
It really feels like flying, they did so well with this one. It has several pops of good Airtime and in the back the positives are really really strong, but all of that isnt what makes the ride awesome for me, its the whole experience
F.L.Y. has it's station underground and that's why it doesn't go far above the walking area's... The new hotel has been built inside Rookburgh too and the coaster winds true that as well! We go visit Phantsialand every 5 years and it was always fun and there was always something new, but never something as F.L.Y. ;-) (I wonder what they think of next, haha!)
I just rode Battlestar Galactica Human, and don't underestimate it being not so intense. It had moments of airtime and positive Gs. My favorite roller coaster so far!😊
The entire old track is just not smooth, it is just the way the track is that it will becone rough, it has to do bith track on the outside and the wheels on the inside
Metal fatigue is better managed with the wheel assemblies on the outside of the track since the train wheel assembly can easily be replaced as it stretches.
I must say tho, I rode the boomerang at Hershey Park with the new vest restraints (Sidewinder) and it transformed the ride. I legitimately think the restraints are what really hold these rides back.
Fighter Jet at Fanta Park Glorious Orient Ganzhou is a Vekoma Top Gun that has a POV on the Roller Coaster Dream Channel that you could have used for timing the real thing. Didn´t compare the times, but the POV looks slower than the animation after the MCBR.
If you ever need more ideas for videos like these, I suggest coasters by the numbers - country editions. Obviously, it'd be a pain in the ass for countries with more than like 15 coasters, but maybe in those cases you could look at the big parks exclusively? But hey. It's just an idea, and just because I love these videos so much.
I really hope one of these new-gen vekomas come to the states. Imagine six flags gives one to great adventure, cedar fair gives one to kings dominion or cga, seaworld gives one to san antonio or san diego, and herschend gives one to wild adventure or kentucky kingdom. That'd be insane.
I’m from Singapore and yes both Human and Cylon tracks contain dead spots. But the G forces as a result of some of these are quite spikey, as the train suddenly picks up ample speed through some tight transitions, notably the bottom of the vertical drop of Cylon. I’ve not experienced this sensation in other vertical loops of other manufacturers
Abyssus is not a Shockwave but a Shockwave+. The Shockwave model is only a single launch coaster. The Shockwave+ adds a new area before before the launch that features an additional launch.
Top gun is 60.273mph/97kmh, around 105ft/32metres. Found from a blooloop article. This puts it at #3 in speed, superseding both Lech (now #5) and TRON (now #4). Height should be unchanged and I haven’t run pacing calculations.
I love you content. Hey know your running out of ideas. But I find this to be very interesting! The only new Vekoma coaster I’ve ridden is dragonflier at Dollywood 🦋

As someone who has been on the Battlestar Galactica coaster, I can honestly say that the POVs don't do this coaster justice. This coaster was actually quite fast and was pretty intense, especially the Cylon side. Human was tamer, but was still pretty good and fast.
If Six Flags Over Texas was to put a Vekoma Shockwave and it's Park what do you think the land over there behind the giant over by the Titan as a ride area and naming it the Texas Bull
Nice video? Any idea from your side why almost all next gen Vekoma rides get build in Asia and a few in Europe? I think some US parks can really benefit from these rides.
I think it has to do with Vekoma being owned by Sansei, who also owns S&S, and America is getting most of the s&s projects while vekoma gets the europe and asia projects
Most of them are designed by Benjamin Bloemendaal, no wonder why all Vekoma coasters in the modern day are very ridable and amazing, although Stefan Holtman led the way for Vekoma Renaissance with the Stingray, and Peter Clerx designed Tron and Battlestar Galactica, Benjamin Bloemendaal designed more sought after coasters like Lech Coaster, F.L.Y., Abyssus, Wrath of Zeus, and the new STC coasters and people love them, he's a genius.

I have ridden battlestar Galactica and while the pacing certainly is bad throughout most of the ride, I don't think it is as sluggish as the pov shows in the 2nd half, and it is still a fun coaster (albeit not intense coaster).
