Well to be fair, this Morticia had a harrowing experience of being chased out with pitch forks on her wedding night, and she never really got over it. So that’s where all her isolationist tendencies are coming from 🤷🏻♀️ I don’t know why they went with this backstory, but well, there you have it 🤷🏻♀️ She wants to maintain status quo as much as possible.
probably an origin story take on her character. She couldve became open minded after the events of this movie. She did become more open minded in the end so that's a start.
@@Tioko the Morticia from the show also had a story of people burning her ancestors and she didn't seem to become moody or resentful at all.

If they had just trusted Morticia's instinct to stay away and then this entire movie would have ended right there.
Nahh, Margo would’ve came after them eventually. Their house is unsightly and kills the view of some of the houses, and since EVERY house has to sell, the two would’ve collided eventually.

@@ccggenius he's voices by Oscar Isaac but he's not Mexican, he's from Guatemala. As for Gomez Addams himself, he has always been portrayed as European Spanish or Hispanic. John Astin, the first Gomez, was mostly portraying him as European and American. Raul Julia, portrayed him as Hispanic. Tim Curry portrayed him as European. And Oscar Issac portrayed him as Hispanic.
I actually really liked this movie. It's geared more towards kids, and the designs are actually based off the original comics (that's why they are all disproportionate and cartoony)
But the humans look awful, I like the artstyle they choose for the family but that's about it

I like Gomez Addams, he’s so honest, enthusiastic, and open-minded.
I wish I could walk into a coffee shop while shouting “GOOD DAYITH, 1 AND ALL” then ask an employee at the counter what kind of coffee they have that kicks 1’s brain out of bed and has a sweet and exotic flavor to make your tastebuds pop with WOW like New Year’s Eve fireworks.

It do like the movie it’s funny but I hate how they made Mortica, she’s always been open minded and as long as her children are happy she’s happy her character has always been that way since the original show. Even in the live action movie when the Nanny says the kids want to go to summer camp they are really confused to why they would want that but they pay for them to go because if that’s what they enjoy then it’s what they enjoy even if the parents themselves don’t like it.

It’s the interpretation for this particular version of her only I believe, as you saw in the beginning, she grew up in an atmosphere that didn’t accept her compared to the 90s version that seemed to have always been around regular folk
Keep in mind, she was given those traits because back then they were considered examples of BAD parenting. It's only logical that they apply a more modern (lack of) sensibilities to a modern remake.

@@Eldoski there’s also the original show from the 40’s where it shows multiple times that the children express interest in things they don’t approve of but they let them do it because it makes them happy. Like one episode Pugsly wants to join the Boy Scouts and even tho Mortica and Gomez hate that idea they let him do it bc he’s a child trying to figure out what he’s likes and dislikes are. These characters have always been kind hearted and open minded people, so when you see them take that and turn them into closed minded, their way or no way people it takes away everything about the Addams family which is to always be yourself and never be ashamed of who you are and that even tho you don’t understand why someone is the way they are you should never judge them until you get to know them and that you should except everyone for who they are no matter their interests no matter who they are or what they look like. The Addams family Values in the 90’s in both movies shows Talley’s wife in both movies the first movie she thinks just like everyone else, she thinks their freaks and is closed minded but then after she meets cousin it at first she’s appalled by him but by the end of the night she becomes more open minded and then she actually falls in love with him leaves her husband and and marries cousin it and then has a baby with him in the next movie. She learned from the Addams family to not judge, just bc someone looks different it sounds different doesn’t mean their a monster sometimes there’s a sweet and beautiful soul that lies underneath and that is what they are all about and that’s what I loved about them when I was little.

Yeah, honestly the song is kinda off key, it has harmony moments, but when it gets off it really sounds ugly, also I don’t like how some of the kids faces are squished and don’t have a chin so the bottom of their mouth is their chin, it really isn’t pleasing to the eye, the blonde little girl is the only one that has a remotely normal face shape and facial feature placement, I really hate how some of the kids have so much forehead, yet their mouth and nose and eyes are so far downward, it just looks really bad, especially since they are 3D models. The little blonde girl actually has a very nice singing voice though, I can understand why she wanted to show off

I understand it's the art style they went with. But, man. These characters are uncomfortably skinny. It just seems weird to me idk
They're heavily influenced by the designs from the comics. I actually think they did a pretty damn good job taking the art style from the comics and transitioning it to 3D animation.

I don’t get why everyone freaked out about Gomez… I mean asides from Thing (the severed hand) he was really nice! I work in fast food and let me tell you I’d personally LOVE it if customers were always as nice as he was

It’s a reference to Wednesday’s pet lion in the og show and I believe comic strips but I’m not entirely sure kitty was in the comic strips but in the show Wednesday named her lion kitty because she was six and kitty was a popular name for a cat.

Sometimes this movie can be really fun and quirky, like Gomez saying “Dont let me interrupt your cup of Joe, or whoever you have in there.” Or even in other parts of the movie like when Moricia questions Gomez on why he knows what cotton candy tastes like and he says “i was young, i made mistakes!” Or EEVENN like when they make the classic “New Jersey fucking sucks” joke. But other times (most of the time) its just drab and lame which really sucks. This couldve been a really cool way to introduce The Addams Family to younger audiences but it just completely failed

@@GorgeousGirlGenius im quite literally within the age range this movie is trying to reach and i was especially within it when it released. I'm 14-16 and when the movie came out i was 11-13, so its safe to say i am the target audience! Plus, just because a movies for kids, or for a newer generation, doesnt mean that it cant be good, or that it has to be half-assed, or that it cant be a proper representation of what the original material used to be

Holy crap, I haven't heard the "I haven't got a hat" song since I was little and watched that positively ANCIENT cartoon. I think it has owls in it.
I think the movie was great on its own, but it pales in comparison to the live action. The Addams Family are always accepting, no matter what their kids do. Plus, Morticia is the one that strikes fear in the common folk; she wouldn’t fear them for being too normal around her. The little things I did like were Pugsley and Wednesday’s relationship, Morticia’s parents being contacted through a ouija board, and their family’s designs.
