    Got my hands on a Yashica 635 and it works. I’m super excited to get into medium format!

      Amazing! They're a beautiful bit of kit!
      Did you get the 35mm kit with it as well?
      Best of luck with it! If you ever need any help with anything definitely give us a shout 🙂

    The TLR experience is something every photographer should try, at least once, in their life.
    The classic TLR swing, as you pan left to try to get that bit on the right into the frame is a dead giveaway. TLR's are a natural progression in the history of cameras, from a simple one lens box to a box with 2 lenses, to the SLR medium format. These cameras aren't just a box with a lens at one end and film at the other, They are Art Deco meets technology.
    I don't have a Yashica (would love one at the right price, but as you point out, prices are skyrocketing), what I do have is a Mamiya C3 - now that IS a beast - with wide angle and telephoto lenses as well as the 80mm.
    It's heavy, very heavy, and really needs to be on a tripod for all day shooting, but the images are just beautiful. They have that indefineable "something", everything looks old fashioned through the lens of a TLR.
    Incidentally, I have added to my Zenza Bronica collection - I found a practically mint S2A with a Nikkor 50mm f3.5 to add to my EC and lenses haul.
    Great to see you both out shooting together, there seems to be a magic when you both play off against each other, shame that life has to intervene.
    Merry Christmas, Guys, thank you for the entertainment you have given us over the past year and I'm looking forward to 2022 with anticipation.
    Happy New Year to you, your families, and to your 518 other subscribers.
    George

      Hey George! Great to hear from you 😁 We hope you had a lovely Christmas!
      It is 100% something everyone needs to experience, there's no doubt about that! For me there's something special about looking down the viewfinder of a TLR. A lot of the time it makes me more creative!
      Definitely keep an eye out for one 😊 they're a perfect addition to any collection 👌 I've never had the privilege of shooting a mamiya c3. I've seen a few but never been able to justify the price of them enough to be able to really want one. They are absolute tanks though, you're right! I can imagine they're heavy...
      Oh nice! Tom still has his bronica but I'm still yet to find one. I'm sure I'll add one to the team soon though 😊
      Merry Christmas to you too and a happy new year to you and your family! Thanks for being there and supporting us through what's been a tough year! You've really kept us going and it's been a pleasure to have you watching and supporting us! We cannot thank you enough!!
      We will see you soon! Take care,

    I love both of these film cameras. Nothing beats film photography. Especially, black and white.

      They're real gems! Definitely underrated in terms of price, quality and results against other 6x6 cameras. We also couldn't agree with you more on that one!
      Thanks for your comment and taking the time to watch, we really appreciate it!
      Stay safe, happy shooting ✌️

    Most 635 cameras mount the 3 element Yashikor, what he has here. Late versions mounted the 4 element Yashinon, used in all later Yashica TLRs until ended in 1986. Whether this 635 lens is acceptable depends on your image end product. If you plan on prints of 11x14 inch or larger, it lacks acceptable sharpness at lens apertures wider than f 8.0. Many years ago, I acquired a 635 kited just like here. On its first trip out, I used it to shoot an odd pattern of ice crystals. Unfortunately, I used the lens at 4.0, and was disappointed to get ice with no clear, sharp edges - total waste. That's the only roll I put through the camera, as I consigned it for sale after looking at my prints. If lighting had permitted a small lens opening, I probably would have gotten what I wanted. (The 35mm film adapter kit, which was copied because Rollei introduced one, is a clumsy waste of time, just like the Rollei version.)

    I can certainly vouch for the TLR as a conversation-starter! wandering around town I often get people coming up to talk about the camera. Mine is an early Yashica Mat and the only criticisms I have are a) the lack of a shutter lock means I sometimes take pictures by accident and b) the lens (Yashinon) is a bit susceptible to flare - in fairness many cameras from the period are the same (my Ensign Selfix and Zeiss Nettar folders and even my Bronica SQ are much the same) - it's best to avoid any backlight unless you want that washed-out effect!
    I enjoy your photos and the natural feel to your video chats.

      Best tip I could give is just to remember to wind on after each shot so you don't double expose 😂 other than that just go out, experiment with it and have fun! Did you get the 35mm kit with it as well?

    Love this video got some unreal shots loved joshes vine photo and the a.w suitcase shot and toms train photos would you say there's much difference in the Mat 124g lens quality wise ? To the 635 and the lm ? Need to get mine out of the cupboard

    • @andywalczak7659
      @andywalczak7659 2 роки тому +1

      To add to my comment my mat 124g I got for a steal as you boys know and I love it and I've never had bad results with my 124g

    • @OnlyAnalogue
      @OnlyAnalogue  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you, Andy! Really appreciate it mate! It's hard to say really... The 124g has the yashinon lens as well like Toms LM so shouldn't be far out. The yashica mat 124g is a lovely camera, it just felt a little too plastic like for me when I had mine. I would never choose it over my 635. But each to there own! 😊 Get it out for a shoot again mate

    • @andywalczak7659
      @andywalczak7659 2 роки тому

      @@OnlyAnalogue that's interesting I thought it had a similar lens to the lm I don't understand the massive price increase between the lm and the 124g ? I'm going to wait until the weather clears up and shoot it with some fp4

    • @randallstewart175
      @randallstewart175 2 роки тому

      @@andywalczak7659 The Yashinons mounted on the LM and the 124G are exactly the same lens with possible difference in coatings over the many years. If the guys found their Yashinon to be clearly sharper than the Xenar in their Rollicord, then there is something wrong with the Rollicord, the lens in such being significantly superior to the Yashinon, which is one the lowest resolving lens (4 element Tessar copy, like the Xenar) ever put on a TLR. I can make that claim, as I personally tested these lenses while searching for my perfect TLR. The "massive price increase" between the LM and 124G is part of the social media fiction surrounding the 124G, which are about the same mechanically except for 124 ability to use the discontinued 220 film format, and for its cheapened mechanism.

    Pardon the lack of experience with these or any TLR, but I am guessing these do not have light meters, so would also not have an ISO setting dial. Correct?

    • @OnlyAnalogue
      @OnlyAnalogue  2 роки тому

      Toms LM does have a built in light as do some of the yashica TLRs however for this particular shoot we used a light meter app on our phones 😊 we set the ISO and desired aperture and our light meter app will tell us roughly what shutter speed is needed 😊

    Question, when I wind the camera without film it doesn’t move the counter for the number of exposures, will that change when I do put film in it or is it possible broken, asking before I waste film

    • @OnlyAnalogue
      @OnlyAnalogue  2 роки тому +1

      It’s not broken it needs film in it in order for the count to work so don’t panic
