Slight correction update: Thanks for the shout-out Paul, but I (Jack) am merely the sales and marketing guy for Milmar Buildings. Marvin is our owner and president and has run Milmar for over 12 years. I appreciate it and thanks again!
The biggest benefits to laminated columns is they stay straight they're stronger and size is consistent. However, they are way more expensive. The laminated columns I need are 20' long. I need 20 of them. They are approximately $250 each = $5000. 4" x 6" x 20' treated post are approximately $90 each = $1800. $3200 difference. That's a lot of jack for posts but the quality of laminated columns is far better. For a pole barn I'd go with the posts. For a barndominium I'd go with the laminated columns. Just my 2¢.
Hello, I was just looking for a rough estimate of what it would cost to build and convert a 44X36 Carolina Barn into a home? According to what I've found a 44X36 Carolina Barn is available at just under $16,000 for the shell so I would still need to have concrete work, plumbing, electrical, insulation, interior walls, and various expected/unexpected ins and outs. I realize that pricing for any and all varies on location. Just wanted an idea of the cost. Thanks for any thoughts, opinions, advice, or help.
