good video. Alot of people don't realize the reason why you cut strips "backwards". To clarify- it is because the bonito meat is layered/ overlapped. like waves. One on top of the next. As you can see in your video. the "waves" in the meat. So While it is pulling through the water, you don't want the water to pull the meat apart. It will wash out prematurely. Especially if the meat has been brined and is hard. That's the reason you pull it "with" the wave direction of the meat.. so the water flows over the meat, and doesn't tear it apart. Making it last long. As a bait strip supplier, i am constantly explaining this to new fishermen, learning how to troll strips, and I love the "Ah Ha" moment they get, when it all clicks together :). Tight lines my friend!
Sweet! Thanks so much for taking the time to watch my video and drop a meaningful comment!!!! I’m fairly new at the bonito strip making game but it seamed easy enough and definitely saves money! Cheers!
Thanks for the input. Just curious. I rewatched the video to try and see where you are referring to me cutting toward myself, I can’t find it unless you mean when I was making the outline of the filet …. 🤷♂️
The guy is correct. You were def cutting toward your opposite hand with no glove on. I was cringing too. Other then that, great video and I learned a lot. I'll be trying this in the coming week, as I drive to my family to West Palm Beach. Keep the instructional videos coming!
